Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 301 - 296: Mysterious Little Island
”Another rule-based skill!”Chen Pingchuan looked at the newly appeared ”Lucky Dice” skill. Just from the description, he could feel the terrifying boost it offered.

This skill must never be used in reality. Chen Pingchuan stroked his stubble, setting the rule for himself decisively. After all, being targeted by the world’s will had already made him unlucky enough. If he rolled a 1, he was afraid not even the Heavenly King himself could save him.

Looks like I can only test it in the simulation. Having made up his mind, he turned his gaze to the simulator.

[Looking at the pitch-black night outside the window, your mood is somewhat complicated. Even with the potential to become a god, you can’t help but worry about the future. After all, as your power increases, your divinity also strengthens, allowing you to naturally sense the threats lurking in the shadows.]

[According to the original plan, you should have held Xu Lingyin hostage again the next morning to head to the lab and enhance your power. However, you know your location has been exposed. If you want to avoid these tribulations, you need to break the path of fate.]

[After much deliberation, you decide to kill all the prisoners in the cells tonight. After all, even an ant is made of meat, and having something to eat is always better than having nothing.]

[You brutally slaughter every single prisoner in the cells.]

[Under the horrified gazes of your lackeys, you open the Void Gate and disappear with them from the prison area behind the mayor’s villa.]

The divine self actually fled. Chen Pingchuan’s pupils widened as if he were witnessing something unbelievable. After all, given the pride of his divine self, he would never flee unless there was absolutely no chance of victory. Even when he was a low-level power user, he always pushed things to the limit. He had used his charisma to subdue Hu Dahao and later even waged a battle against Celestial Palace No. 1 with a horde of flesh puppets. Now, he didn’t even try. He just fled. It seems the situation here is more complicated than I imagined.

Chen Pingchuan continued the simulation.

[As your vision blurs between black and white, you and your lackeys appear on a strange island. Facing the new environment, Lilia and the others exhibit unusual curiosity.]

[You look at your excited underlings, but a peculiar feeling rises within you, as if a voice is calling to you from the center of the island.]

[Faced with this eerie situation, you directly summon the Fate Dice and get a lucky roll of 4.]

[Indeed, the next day, not only do you find a clean source of freshwater, but you also discover edible fruits and a type of meaty ingredient called a meat-egg.

[You spend a whole day advancing several dozen kilometers. The reason you don’t go further is that the dense jungle makes it difficult to find your way.]

[As night falls, your pace slows even more. The jungle, which had been quiet during the day, is now teeming with shadow creatures.]

[You appraise the shadow creatures.]

[Would you like to display the appraisal information?]

Seeing the system prompt, Chen Pingchuan knew there must be something different about this creature’s information. Otherwise, the system, with its usual stinginess, wouldn’t offer such a prompt. So he softly made his decision.

”Display!”

[Shadow Demon]: A creature created by an other-worldly Evil God, either by twisting and corrupting normal beings or by shaping them directly from the dark void.

Form: Usually appears as a shadow, lacking a definitive shape. It is semi-transparent with blurred, distorted edges, as if condensed from darkness. It can crawl or flow across various surfaces and is also able to float in the air.

Ability 1: Concealment. Can easily blend into dark environments, making it very difficult to spot with the naked eye. They can silently approach a target and attack without being noticed.

Ability 2: Shadow Manipulation. Can control surrounding shadows, stretching and deforming them into various weapons or tools. It can also use shadows to create illusions, confusing and disturbing an enemy’s perception.

Ability 3: Passive. Its touch has an erosive and corrupting effect. Objects or beings it comes into contact with are eroded by dark power, causing objects to decay and a living being’s life force to be drained. Victims can even be infected by the dark power and gradually transform into shadow creatures.

Weakness: Sensitive to light. They fear bright light, which will damage them, restrict their movement, and can even temporarily strip them of their power.

Damn!

A three-ability creature, and it seems to be a mass-producible, consumable type of soldier at that. Chen Pingchuan was momentarily speechless. Is my unstable dimensional travel cursed? Why is it that every place I teleport to is never normal?

How about next time, I roll the dice first before teleporting?

A sudden flash of inspiration made Chen Pingchuan realize the synergy between his skills. It seemed like he could exploit a bug.

[The shadow creatures are not powerful, roughly at the level of a Third-level Power User, but their immunity to physical harm is impressive. Both the Porcupine, the Great Fierce Bear, and Lu Jiaojiao need to strike these monsters multiple times to kill them.]

[Facing these monsters, Lilia and Wei Hao display extraordinary damage-dealing capabilities. Of course, compared to you, their efforts are like an ant trying to shake a tree. You secretly activate the Skillful Hands skill. With each use, a gray crystal appears in your hand.]

[Half an hour later, thanks to your frenzied hunting, the entire jungle abruptly falls silent. You have also acquired hundreds of gray crystals, which you casually store in your personal space.]

[Following the call in your heart, you continue toward the island’s center for another day. On the second night, you encounter a more aggressive attack. This time, it’s a mix of shadow creatures and many of the island’s native inhabitants.]

[The strength of the island’s native inhabitants varies greatly. The strongest among them is only a level-seven, a body-enhancement type, the weakest kind. Using your Skillful Hands skill, you easily restrain their strongest member and successfully repel the assault.]

[In the following days, you face continuous attacks from different evil spirit creatures. Based on the intensity of their attacks, you deduce their weakness, but you don’t advance recklessly. You hold your ground, steadily repelling each assault.]

[After a whole week, you finally reach your destination. When you see the majestic and grand palace, your heart suddenly becomes restless. You recognize the feeling welling within you—it isn’t fear, but rather... anticipation.]

The evil spirit creatures and Shadow Demons happen to be creatures I can easily counter. I just happen to arrive on this specific island, and on this island, there just happens to be a voice calling out to me.

Chen Pingchuan frowned deeply. He sensed an invisible hand orchestrating the course of his life.
