Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 276 - 271 Madness
With a sense of curiosity, Chen Pingchuan cast his gaze upon the tables and chairs in the room. With a thought, he stood up, placed his hand on the furniture, and in an instant, the scarlet table and chairs vanished without a trace. He focused his senses and found the items resting quietly in a strange space. Although it wasn’t large, roughly forty square meters, it was more than enough to store many daily necessities, as long as they weren’t massive pieces of equipment.

Just like that, Chen Pingchuan played around until his Spirit began to feel weary, and then he drifted off to sleep.

「Another morning arrived」

The clear, crisp songs of birds woke Chen Pingchuan. He was starting to quite like his days here. He was waited on hand and foot, and if it weren’t for the impending insect apocalypse, he would have truly felt like he was on vacation.

As Chen Pingchuan finished getting ready, guests began to appear one after another in the backyard. Apparently, yesterday’s success had attracted even more people who had heard of his fame.

Chen Pingchuan coldly watched the laughing and chatting crowd, people who had no idea of the fate that was about to befall them.

Actually, it’s not so bad being blissfully ignorant. When death comes, it comes. Living on helplessly is its own kind of pain. So, Chen Pingchuan, don’t hold onto any unrealistic fantasies. You’re different from the others. Wherever you go, disaster follows.

Chen Pingchuan patted his cheeks, sternly warning himself. Just two days of peace had nearly corroded his will.

I still need more training.

Throughout the entire day, Chen Pingchuan didn’t see Xu Lingyin, nor did he receive any word from her. According to his calculations, her mobility issues shouldn’t have affected her mind. The panic from being paralyzed would surely make her send someone to find him. He could then take the opportunity to offer her a drink that would lift the restriction on her movement. Just like that, their brief partnership would be established.

”What if she doesn’t play by the rules? What should I do?” he muttered to himself. ”Hmph. I’ll just have to deal with it.”

At some point, Chen Pingchuan had started talking to himself. It was a habit he himself hadn’t even realized he’d picked up.

The day passed quickly, mainly because there were so many people. Chen Pingchuan also felt his Spirit growing somewhat fatigued. Among the guests, a few exceptionally beautiful noble ladies would occasionally approach him. They didn’t just cast flirtatious glances his way; they also used their tender little hands to explore his more... mysterious parts, taking advantage of him.

This made Chen Pingchuan both pleased and annoyed. Pleased, because his charm hadn’t faded one bit. Annoyed, because he preferred being the aggressor, not the one on defense. In this environment, their constant teasing only left his desires with no outlet.

A bunch of little tarts.

「On the third day of his captivity in the villa’s backyard」

This was also a very important day, because tomorrow was the day of the Battle Royale. Tonight, Chen Pingchuan had to take the lead and get his new followers in order.

Recruit who I can, kill who I must.

That day, Xu Lingyin still did not appear.

「That night」

Dressed in a luxurious brocade suit like a high-status young noble, Chen Pingchuan strode gracefully along the corridor. He soon arrived in front of Cell No. 1. The cell door was extremely firm from the inside, but from the outside, it posed no obstacle. Chen Pingchuan easily unlocked the door to Cell No. 1.

”Surprise!” he chirped. ”Wei Hao, the jig is up. You’re coming with me.”

Inside the cell, Wei Hao was curled up in a corner, lost in thought. Chen Pingchuan’s voice startled him.

Wei Hao looked at Chen Pingchuan as if he were a lunatic. Although he didn’t understand the man’s cryptic words, it was clear that this Chen Pingchuan person was not mentally stable.

Putting his mental instability aside, the pressure this man exerted was immense, as if he could take Wei Hao’s life at any moment. This intuition arose from some unseen place, but Wei Hao believed it without a doubt, because this very instinct had allowed him to cheat death many times before.

”Hello,” Wei Hao said. ”I don’t know how you know my name, but I’d still like to ask you a question.”

Chen Pingchuan raised an eyebrow. In reality, the two had no prior relationship. While he didn’t know how he had convinced Wei Hao in the simulation, he figured it couldn’t have been more complicated than giving him a good beating. Thus, his tone was slightly flippant.

”Oh? Speak.”

Chen Pingchuan’s attitude made Wei Hao’s heart tighten. ”Will you kill me?”

Hearing this, Chen Pingchuan’s expression froze for a moment.

Hmm? Interesting! Since you’ve already guessed, I’ll be blunt. You have two choices: become my subordinate, or die! Alright, choose. Let’s make it quick; I need my beauty sleep.

Listening to Chen Pingchuan’s shameless threat, Wei Hao patted his forehead. He really is a madman. Who in their right mind would choose death?

Of course, on the surface, Wei Hao made the most logical choice. ”Boss, whatever you need, just say the word. I’m here to solve your problems.”

Wei Hao’s response pleased Chen Pingchuan. He really was the coolest guy on the cell block.

”Hahahaha! Not bad, kid! Don’t worry. Stick with me, and your future will be bright—even if you’re so busy you’re hungry nine times a day.”

With that, Chen Pingchuan didn’t spare Wei Hao another glance and turned toward Cell No. 6. If he remembered correctly, the simple-minded giant known as Porcupine was locked up in there.

Convincing Porcupine took much longer than it had with Wei Hao, but Chen Pingchuan was very patient. He started by painting a beautiful picture for Porcupine and made him a solemn promise: he would never let Porcupine go hungry again. In the future, he could eat whatever he wanted, and as much as he wanted.

These simple words contained a terrifying power. At least, that’s how it seemed to Wei Hao. Chen Pingchuan was like a demon luring souls into Hell, and the ”poor soul” in this case was a three-meter-tall giant. The sheer dissonance of the scene was a powerful shock that lingered in Wei Hao’s mind.

Having subdued both Wei Hao and Porcupine in less than ten minutes, Chen Pingchuan felt he might wrap up early today. On a whim, he opened the door to Cell No. 5.

Compared to the cleanliness of the other rooms, Cell No. 5 was an absolute garbage dump. A dark, damp air hit him, thick with the intermingled stench of rot and despair.

A hunched prisoner with a brutish, fleshy face was curled up in the corner. When he heard the door open, his murky eyes snapped open, shooting out a fierce glare, like a trapped beast still baring its fangs.

Chen Pingchuan stood with his hands behind his back, stepping into the cell with a steady gait. His gaze swept over the man as he spoke slowly, ”Hey, brother. Do me a favor and play a game with me, will you?”

However, the answer Chen Pingchuan received this time was truly beyond his expectations.

”Imbecile...”
