Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 113: What was Stolen

”So, you are telling me your husband was part of the mysterious group that attacked your home and that the spy I caught was the leader of these people?” Kent asked, looking rather shocked.

After leaving his master’s room, Kent came to talk to Cynthia, who was a little shaken by the incident.

After all, hundreds of guards and maids had died in the sudden attack on their home. It was so sudden, in fact, that many died, not even knowing what was happening.

However, what made her mind flip was the fact that the one who had led the attack was her very own husband, who was meant to ensure the safety of their home.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, her husband had tried to kill her and the Saintess. It was mind-boggling, and Kent was completely taken aback by hearing it for the first time.

”Yes. It seems John was under some spell that made him act against his free will,” Cynthia said. ”As to whether he was pretending or not, I don’t really know. But I know for sure John didn’t act like the John I knew.”

”I see. Then can I assume John and the Ashlands are in cahoots?” Kent asked.

Since he had just found out that the spy he caught was the one who had come back and massacred the Alderfords, he could only imagine that he might have been in league with his enemies—the Ashlands.

”I don’t think so. Just an hour ago, a spy we have in the Alderford Mansion reported that Dave Ashland, his wives, and some high-ranking members of the family were assassinated.

From how he described it, it all happened overnight and was only recently discovered,” Cynthia replied, making Kent frown.

”Then does this mean that aside from this mysterious group that calls themselves the Hand, there is another organization at work?” Kent asked, immediately feeling a bad premonition.

Somehow, he knew this had something to do with him—or, more importantly, Li Hua.

[Master, I think this is related to the lady you killed at the prison. From the little memory you extracted while blacked out, it appears she belonged to an underworld organization called the Dark Devil Church.

I don’t know much, but we can start with that.]

’Thanks, Tower. Let’s review the memories after this,’ Kent said before returning his gaze back to Cynthia.

”I don’t know if the two incidents are coincidences or connected to the same people, but I know this wasn’t a random attack.

Do you perhaps have any idea what they were after?” Kent asked.

Cynthia nodded. ”I think they were after a key. A while back, John returned from one of his many business trips with a key. Back then, he only told me a name and said it would be better if I didn’t know the details of it.”

”Now that I think about it, that was also around the same time that scheming bitch came into this family,” Cynthia said, her gaze deep in thought.

”What is the name of this Key?” Kent asked.

”It was called the ’Key of Aetherial Flame,’” Cynthia said, her voice barely above a whisper.

”The Key of Aetherial Flame,” he repeated.

”Yes. That was the name he told me the last time.” Cynthia nodded.

[Master, I believe this is a major issue. In fact, this is a dangerous issue that can’t be discussed now. Finish everything now, and we can talk about it. Also, I have already started looking for the key, but it seems it’s long gone]

”John stored it in the treasury, but an hour ago, when I checked, the key, along with every treasure, was gone. It seems that was what they came for, or maybe they just picked it up after robbing us of everything,” Cynthia sighed.

Right now, she was in a difficult spot. Hundreds of her guards and maids were dead, so she had to do something for their families.

Also, now that her family’s foundation was gone, it meant only one thing: total destruction. The only thing she could do was hope to find a way to send them on their way.

But as it stood, she was broke beyond limits.

Millions of spirit stones and all the goods they possess that can be sold for profit had been stolen. Basically, she was penniless at the moment.

”What do you plan on doing next?” Kent asked.

He didn’t need to be a genius to know the lady in front of him was not having an easy time. Her husband had betrayed her and her entire family, causing the deaths of hundreds.

”I will sell the rest of the properties and send the remaining guards and Maids on their way. I will also have to compensate the families of the deceased. After that, I will go back home to see if I can get back on my feet somehow,” Cynthia said with a defeated sigh.

Kent shook his head and stood up to leave.

He needed to get things sorted out and leave for the academy. He didn’t find staying in the city safe at the moment.

That was especially true as long as he still hadn’t awakened the Tower. He had to get into the academy and work on that.

”Take this. I believe it will be enough to cover the guards and other expenses. Also, don’t sell the house. Donate it to an orphanage or something.

I will be leaving now to take care of some things. If you need me, you know where to find me.”

Kent vanished, leaving Cynthia shocked.

Kent had just dropped a billion spirit stones in her lap and left. That alone was enough to tell her the man who had just left was no ordinary person.

She was so shocked that she didn’t move an inch for the next ten minutes. Only after she regained her senses did she leave to talk to Lilian, her daughter.

Lilian, who hadn’t expected Kent to drop that money on her mother’s lap, giggled when she saw her mom’s face.

”Mom, you already made up your mind, and now that you’re free, you can’t wait any longer.

Give the money to me and go to him. If your performance is worthwhile, he might just make you his woman. After all, how long has it been since you’ve had something enter your body?”

Lilian giggled, taking the pouch of money from her mother. To her, now that John was dead, it was good riddance.

She knew the pain her mother had endured all these years, and now that the source of her pain was headless and burnt to ash, it was time for her to move on.

”I will need a few days,” Cynthia said, still looking shocked.

Lilian sighed and stood to leave. ”Just don’t take too long, Mom. Unity is talking to him now, and since I already know the answer, you shouldn’t waste too much time.”

She left to take care of her family. She knew her family was done for her but didn’t care. She is now Kent’s woman. The Alderford can go screw themselves.

Cynthia lay on her bed and started contemplating what she had to do. In the end, she chose to follow her heart’s desire.

If only she knew that, in the coming months, she would experience the best times she had ever had in her entire life.
