Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: A Bedsheet Dragnet
chapter 46: a bedsheet dragnet

thirty meters above the ground.

twelve firefighting drones, like ghosts, silently hovered.

the advantage of propellers is that they leave no exhaust trail, and their noise is low.

on this cloudy night.

apart from night vision goggles, the naked eye can’t see a thing.

even if you can hear the sound.

it’s difficult to locate the drones.

tang rui moved the mouse and marked a point on the map.

then he selected the drones and clicked on the stealth infiltration mode.

woo-woo-woo…

after receiving the command.

the electro-optical systems of the twelve firefighting drones started working.

ground scanning system.

laser ranging system.

optical detection system.

infrared detection system.

these devices on different drones were activated simultaneously.

the data obtained, shared and distributed through a multi-drone coordinated intelligent control program, instantly calculated the path to the target.

the twelve firefighting drones hovering in the air changed their flight trajectories simultaneously.

these twelve drones adjusted their directions, forming two groups in a staggered formation, descending in height.

then, the two groups of drones flew toward the target, one after the other.

tang rui clasped his hands and quietly watched the screen.

he didn’t need to control these firefighting drones.

just set the target.

choose the flight mode or attack mode.

the system automatically calculates the flight path.

no manual operation was required.

otherwise, even if he had fast reflexes, he couldn’t control twelve drones alone.

during the flight, when these firefighting drones detected people and obstacles ahead, they adjusted their flight paths to avoid them.

tang rui watched as the flight trajectory traced a path and nodded in satisfaction.

the coordination problem of multiple drones had always been a big issue.

the enhanced multi-drone coordinated intelligent program on the system panel not only solved the problems of data transmission, sharing, and task allocation, but also addressed the issue of coordination.

when avoiding obstacles on the road, the twelve drones adjusted their directions and slowed down simultaneously.

at their closest points, there was only a 20-centimeter gap between the two drones.

this kind of coordination couldn’t be achieved through manual operation.

in no time, the twelve firefighting drones successfully maneuvered through various obstacles and flew over the target, then began hovering at low altitude. tang rui reached out and marked a point at the villa’s location.

this time, he selected the annihilation mode.

upon giving the command.

the twelve firefighting drones simultaneously ascended. after reaching an altitude of one hundred meters, they headed towards the villa while scanning and searching for the target.

vehicles and pedestrians on the road were all marked.

at this point, as long as tang rui clicked the screen to confirm the annihilation command.

the drones would initiate the attack.

however, he wouldn’t click it.

so, during the flight, all the marked targets remained on the map.

this was a function of the reconnaissance mode.

but he embedded some of those instructions into the annihilation mode.

for example, sometimes the target might not be completely annihilated, but there weren’t enough drones left.

in such cases, marking the enemy allowed for direct attacks on those targets during the next assault.

soon, the twelve firefighting drones returned to the airspace above the villa, hovering at low altitude, waiting for commands.

there weren’t any more commands.

all systems were normal, and all functions were functioning properly.

as for the actual ‘firefighting’ effect.

he couldn’t test it.

so, this test flight ended.

landing…

at that moment, tang rui realized he hadn’t arranged landing nets.

glancing at the screen’s cruising time, there was just over twenty minutes left. he hurriedly got up, tore the bedsheet off the bed and rushed to the yard.

there, he fetched four poles and tied them to the corners of the bedsheet. after securing them, he inserted the poles into the ground.

once he was sure it was fine, he returned to the room, controlled the firefighting drones to fly over his villa, marked the bedsheet in the yard, and then clicked the landing command.

the twelve drones circled the villa twice, scanning the surrounding terrain and obstacles, then adjusted their flight paths.

one firefighting drone plummeted from the sky in a dive, arriving at the villa’s entrance and pulling up just in time.

speed was counteracted by gravity and resistance.

at the same time, the propellers stopped.

finally, this firefighting drone dropped from over three meters, executing a u-turn in mid-air before accurately landing on the bedsheet.

after this firefighting drone landed, the second one started repeating the same maneuver.

during this time, tang rui was beside the bedsheet, quickly removing the drones as they landed.

after a while.

when the final firefighting drone accurately landed on the bedsheet, he breathed a sigh of relief.

fortunately, everything went smoothly.

the initial landings were precise.

but during the third-to-last one, it almost hit the ground.

it startled tang rui.

aluminum alloy wasn’t that durable.

falling from over three meters, it wouldn’t turn into dust, but it would definitely be damaged.

he glanced at the drone’s system panel. it was 230 experience points away from an upgrade.

one more flight and it would likely level up.

however, he wasn’t pursuing upgrades.

whether it leveled up or not, it didn’t matter much.

at most, it would look better.

the equipment remained the same; he couldn’t enhance it.

he went upstairs, took the transmitter from the balcony, inserted all the firefighting drones into the launching tube, and began charging.

then he dismantled the bedsheet.

it was rendered useless.

several places had been scratched by the metallic protrusions on the drone.

a spin in the washing machine would certainly tear it apart.

however, it could be repurposed as a landing net for the firefighting drones.

after a busy period…

with everything tidied up, he returned to his room, put on the subconscious learning device, and lay on the bed to sleep.

in his dreams, theoretical knowledge of various rocket engines flowed into his mind.

he had already finished studying mechanical design and circuitry textbooks.

he had considered studying some microelectronics-related knowledge but he eventually gave up.

although he had a golden finger, he couldn’t cross into a different field to study chips.

others wouldn’t believe it.

even if he studied tanks, exoskeletons, or even rockets and spacecraft, it would be more credible than dabbling in chips.

so, lithography machines and such were off-limits, not unless he developed interstellar travel.

at that point, if domestically-made lithography machines still fell short, he could step in.

first, he needed to understand the relevant knowledge in his field, and then consider other things.

rocket engines were something he had to comprehend.

it wasn’t for creating firefighting incendiary devices.

those had already been developed and sold to the wealthy.

it needed to have a range of 300 kilometers and a non-negotiable payload.

even after reducing the payload, there was no warranty and after-sales service, not to mention the glaring range error of 1700 kilometers.

tang rui was learning this to work on true fighter jets, and to directly build cyclically-activated engines.

such engines were true black-tech stuff..
