Earth's Greatest Magus

“Peak-level expert! We can’t stay here!!” Gelael barked.

Emery stepped forward, placing himself between the Ember Sage and the incoming threat. “Senior, healing this man is our best chance to survive. Please… do your best. I will hold the line!”

Despite the strength in his voice, a deep unease gnawed at Emery’s gut as he watched the female barabrain ride the hulking frog beast and stride through the smoke and debris.

Among the enemy’s peak cosmic experts, she was among the most dangerous. She might not possess the sheer physical strength of the other, but her mastery over godly beasts made her an enslavement path expert. A soul master—like the infamous Mo Yan— with the addition of monstrous godly beasts under her command.

And the beast she brought today was unlike anything Emery had seen up close.

When the monstrous frog burst through the fortification with sheer brute strength, VIA quickly analyzed it, data flashing across Emery’s vision.

[Terror Blighttoad]

[Godly Beast – Level: 7]

A level 7 godly beast. Its power rivaled a Stage 7 Cosmic Expert—a full grade stronger than the venomous godly spider Emery had fought back in the Skyroot Faction’s secret realm. The threat it posed was immense.

The barbarian woman gave the ruined hall a single glance before her eyes locked on the huddled non-combatants. Stroking the slimy head of her beast, she grinned and whispered, “Your next meal.”

At her command, the Blighttoad bellowed. It leapt forward with terrifying speed, its cavernous mouth opening wide. A swirling vortex of suction formed, yanking a dozen screaming defenders into its gullet. Their screams ended in sickening wet snaps.

Emery’s fists clenched, but he forced himself to stay focused. He could not leave Gelael unprotected. The infected Veyarel’s life depended on it.

The beast turned next toward another cluster of terrified civilians, this group guarded by a handful of guards. But before the Blighttoad could devour again, the guard captain—one of the stronghold’s elites—stepped bravely into its path.

The captain unleashed his battlefield domain, showing the power of his two cosmos. The temperature plummeted. Frost bloomed across the stones, and sheets of ice crawled over the Blighttoad’s massive legs, attempting to pin it in place. Shards of razor ice formed around the captain, who stood tall, spear leveled at the beast.

“CROAKK!!”

The frog roared in anger and with a single, monstrous stomp shattered the frozen ground like glass. Without hesitation, it spat a glob of black, steaming bile through the air like a cannonball. It splattered across the captain’s squad with a wet, sickening hiss.

“AARRGHH!!”

Screams of terror tore through the hall as the deadly liquid worked instantly—armor buckled and sizzled, flesh turned to bubbling ruin. These magus-realm warriors didn’t even have time to cast a final spell before their bodies melted into grotesque heaps of bone and gore, staining the icy floor crimson.

The agonized wails echoed against the walls, a horrific chorus of death that sent a chill even through seasoned warriors.

Only the captain survived, quick enough to dodge and shield himself with a thick block of enchanted ice.

“YOU DAMN MONSTER!!” he roared, his voice choked with rage.

Fueled by fury, the captain launched himself forward, spear aimed for the Blighttoad’s eye. The beast reacted instantly—its thick, slimy tongue lashed out like a bladed whip.

CRACK!

In a horrifying moment, the captain’s body split in two.

But a second later, his form shattered into misty shards of ice—an illusionary clone. His real body was already leaping toward the female barbarian herself, spear poised for a killing blow.

The female barbarian didn’t even flinch. A wicked smile crossed her face as the Blighttoad’s massive tail swung upward like a hammer.

BAM!!

The captain was smashed mid-air, sent hurtling back toward the ground with a sickening crunch. He barely managed to land on his feet—but the beast’s tongue lashed out again, severing his legs below the knees in a flash of gore.

“ARGHH!!”

He collapsed, blood spraying the ground, helpless.

The Blighttoad advanced, one massive foot raising to crush him.

It was then that Emery decided to move.

With a sharp command, two of the golden constructs surged forward, hurling themselves between the monstrous Blighttoad and the dying captain. Though the constructs were dwarfed by the towering beast—only a quarter its height—their heavy metallic frames slammed into its legs with a thunderous impact, forcing the creature to halt mid-stomp.

The ground quaked under the collision.

The Blighttoad roared in anger, thrashing against the constructs. It swung its massive limbs, trying to throw them off, but the golden golems moved with mechanical precision.

One latched onto the beast’s thick, slimy thigh, its clawed hands locking like steel vices. The other drove itself into the creature’s abdomen, delivering relentless, hammering punches—each blow strong enough to crack stone.

The frog monster, furious at the resistance, opened its mouth wide and spat another jet of dark, poisonous bile. The corrosive liquid splattered against one of the golems, sizzling and steaming.

But the golden metal didn’t yield.

The golem’s body, forged by the Supreme Magus’ power, was immune to mere acid. Though a blackened scar marred its chest, the construct barely slowed, its mechanical joints grinding with renewed ferocity as it shoved harder against the beast.

Taking advantage of the brief respite, Emery sprinted into the chaos.

Using the precious seconds won, Emery summoned his Elysian roots. Vines of brilliant green surged under the captain, wrapping around his ruined body and pulling him to safety. Emery immediately focused on regenerating his legs, pumping healing energy into the wounded man.

Across the battlefield, the female barbarian watched, her eyes narrowing.

“Hmph. Resistance is futile,” she said, pulling out a black-flagged staff from her back.

As she raised it high, sinister runes burned to life across the Blighttoad’s skin.

The monster bellowed, and its body swelled. With a violent convulsion, it broke free from the construct’s grip. One golem was seized by the beast’s grotesquely powerful hands and ripped apart—chunks of molten gold and iron scattering across the battlefield.

The barbarian sneered, her eyes falling on Emery.

“So… you’re the one controlling these annoying toys,”

Standing firm, Emery said nothing. The two remaining golems immediately returned to his side, moving like loyal sentinels. As for the broken one, Emery simply gestured—and to the astonishment of those watching, the shattered pieces began to twitch.

The golem was rebuilding itself.

Golden metal flowed like liquid, its body reconstructing piece by piece, pulling shattered limbs and twisted plates back into form with a shrill metallic hum.

The female barbarian frowned, annoyed. She pointed her black staff at him and hissed, “Eat him.”
