I Am The Game's Villain

Chapter 719: [Final Event] [Blood Moon Festival] [1] Lazarus Raven Imprisoned

The Blood Moon Festival

The Blood Moon Festival a celebration of ancient times. For centuries, it had marked a rare celestial event when the moon itself seemed to bleed, casting its red light across Sancta Vedelia. To most, it was a spectacle of beauty. But for the Vampires, it was sacred—a divine echo of the night when their Goddess, Merithra, breathed life into their kind.

For one fleeting week, their blood surged hotter, their strength soared, and their instincts sharpened. It was the season of awakening, of reverence... and once, of terror.

Long ago, during one such Blood Moon, the Vampire Witch unleashed the Blood Moon Spell, cursing the land in a storm of madness and crimson. The skies burned red, the earth wept blood, and the memory of that horror lingered for centuries. What should have been a sacred time became a wound etched deep into history.

Yet time, as it always does, dulled even the darkest scars. Centuries passed, and the festival was reborn — no longer a night of dread, but of unity. Humans, Elves, and Werewolves began to join the Vampires in celebration, turning what was once a solemn rite into a grand festival of light, music, and shared wonder.

Each year, the festivities alternated between the twin Vampire Kingdoms—Tepes and Ravenia. Whichever capital hosted the event became the heart of Sancta Vedelia for that week, flooded with travelers, merchants, and nobles eager to bask beneath the red glow.

This year, it was Ravenia’s turn. Lanterns of blood-red glass lit its streets, music echoed from every plaza, and laughter filled the air. It should have been perfect.

But this year’s Blood Moon didn’t happen as peacefully as the Heads of Sancta Vedelia would have wished.

A few days before, tragedy struck—an incident so vile it sent tremors through every noble house.

The Head of House Raven, Lazarus Raven, stood accused of the unthinkable: murder, rape, and countless other unspeakable crimes. In another age, his power and prestige might have shielded him—after all, the Ravens were one of Sancta Vedelia’s Great Houses. But this time, one of his victims carried blood as noble as his own.

The one who brought these horrors to light was none other than Leora Bloodspire—once Leora Raven, wife of James Raven. She had long withdrawn from the affairs of her former household. But two weeks prior, her daughter vanished without a trace. Desperation dragged her back into the matters of the house she had grown to despise.

Her suspicions fell first upon her father-in-law. He had always been... strange. But when Leora began digging into his secrets, she unearthed something far darker than even her worst fears.

In one of Lazarus Raven’s hidden dungeons, she found Thelma Olphean—the long-lost sister of Lydia Alea Olphean, missing for years and presumed dead. But Thelma was alive... barely. Chained, broken, starved and she was not alone. Dozens of women were imprisoned with her, all sharing the same hollow eyes and trembling bodies. Victims of Lazarus’s monstrosity.

The revelation sent shockwaves through Sancta Vedelia. And just when the nobles believed they had heard the worst of it, another truth clawed its way into the open.

Victor Raven, once thought as the bastard son of James Raven from an unknown wife, was revealed to be Lazarus’s bastard son, born from the very woman he had defiled—Thelma Olphean.

The revelations about Lazarus Raven’s atrocities didn’t surface during the Blood Moon Festival itself. They erupted before it—just days prior, sending ripples of chaos through Leaders of Sancta Vedelia.

The scandal was too grave to ignore. A full-scale investigation was immediately launched, spearheaded by none other than Duncan Tepes, the current head of the Tepes House.

It wasn’t merely a matter of politics. Lazarus Raven wasn’t just a noble—he was a Demigod, a being whose power demanded caution. To confront him openly required someone of equal might, and Duncan Tepes, a Demigod himself, was the only one capable of facing him without fear.

At first, it should have been simple a formal interrogation, a calm, measured process to confirm what was already obvious. The evidence was overwhelming, after all. Documents, witnesses, even physical proof, everything pointed to Lazarus’s guilt.

And yet, despite it all, the council hesitated.

Lazarus Raven was too powerful, too deeply rooted in the structure of Sancta Vedelia. Striking him down would send shockwaves through every House. So, they followed protocol—cautious steps, endless deliberation, layers of bureaucracy meant to temper justice with politics.

But the moment the victims were brought forth, everything began to unravel.

Each woman rescued from his dungeons was broken beyond recognition—silent, trembling, unable to speak his name. Whenever it was mentioned, they merely shook their heads and wept. Their fear spoke louder than words ever could.

The lone hope for undeniable testimony lay with Thelma Olphean. She was still recovering from years of torment, her body and spirit both fragile. Yet as the Princess of House Olphean, her voice carried weight no one could ignore. The council decided to wait—for her strength, for her truth.

But not everyone had the patience to wait.

When Queen Alea Olphean, Thelma’s younger sister learned that her lost sibling had been found alive, and worse, learned what had been done to her, she snapped.

During a diplomatic meeting in Central Vedelia, as Lazarus Raven sat across the chamber, wearing that same cold, smug smile, Alea’s fury broke through whatever composure remained of her.

In a flash, she launched at him with murderous intent.

It was a miracle she had agreed to attend the talks at all. The disappearance of Amael, her son, had already left her in grief and rage. Now, faced with the monster who had destroyed her sister’s life, her restraint shattered completely.

It took Alector and the other House Heads to intervene before her wrath ignited a full-scale war in the council hall.

The talks collapsed. Duncan Tepes, his patience exhausted, turned to Lazarus and made his position clear. If Thelma Olphean confirmed the accusations, he would personally see to Lazarus’s downfall.

For now, Lazarus was permitted to return to Ravenia, watched and bound by oath. But everyone knew, his time was running out.

Two days later, the silence ended.

Thelma awoke. And when she spoke, the truth that left her lips shattered the last remnants of Lazarus’s protection.

Word of her confession spread quickly and with it came chaos.

Victor Raven, unable to contain his anger upon learning that he was the bastard born of his father’s crimes and what happened to his mother he just had found, struck first. In a fit of rage, he attacked Lazarus within the family’s ancestral castle.

James Raven soon joined the fight. Though he had long suspected their father of terrible deeds, the truth cut deeper than he could bear. He and Leora had been the ones to uncover the dungeon and its victims, and seeing Lazarus stand so arrogantly after what he’d done...it broke something inside him.

Their battle raged through the halls of Ravenia, shaking the foundations of the castle.

But it didn’t stop there.

When Duncan Tepes arrived, the conflict escalated into something far greater, a clash between two Demigods that shook the heavens themselves. They took the fight outside the capital and where eyes couldn’t see them near a mountain away from the Capital of Ravenia.

The sky darkened. Winds roared. The earth cracked under their blows. For hours, the eart trembled beneath their strength, until at last, Duncan Tepes emerged victorious—bloodied, but standing.

Lazarus Raven, once the untouchable Head of his House, was dragged before the council by Alector and the assembled Heads.

And so, Lazarus Raven was finally imprisoned.

But the world would not know.

Outside the council chambers, silence reigned. The people of Ravenia and Sancta Vedelia as whole went about their lives unaware that one of their most powerful leaders had fallen. Not a single whisper escaped the sealed halls of judgment.

Only the Heads of the Great Houses and a few trusted nobles were privy to the truth. It was a matter far too delicate to be aired in public. Lazarus Raven was not merely a noble, he was one of Sancta Vedelia’s two Demigods, a living symbol of divine strength. To expose his crimes would not only stain his name but shake the very foundations of faith and power upon which Sancta Vedelia stood until now.

For Alector and the other Heads, silence was survival. If the outside kingdoms learned that one of Sancta Vedelia’s mightiest had fallen to corruption and madness, it could invite chaos. They needed time. Time to contain the scandal. Time to build a new balance.

And so, under carefully woven lies and half-truths, the Blood Moon Festival continued.

Every plaza shone with crimson lanterns. Music filled the streets. Dancers twirled beneath the red light of the moon, never realizing how close they had come to losing their celebration entirely.

Tradition dictated that James Raven, as the rightful heir, should preside over the festivities. But James refused.

How could he stand before crowds and smile when his daughter remained missing, when his family lay in ruins, and his father’s sins still echoed in his mind? No—there would be no festival joy for him.

Instead, the duty fell to Cyril Raven, James’s son. Or rather he readily took upon the role telling the Heads, that he would take care of the festivities himself.

And so, the festival went on with Cyril Raven leading it.

But peace never lasts.

In the midst of the festivities, another announcement shook Sancta Vedelia—this time not from rumor or shadow, but from the council of Heads itself.

With Lazarus Raven stripped of all titles and awaiting judgment, the line of succession was made clear. James Raven would soon inherit the position of House Head. And after him, his heir—Cyril Raven would rise to lead.

Yet power alone could not heal the fractures between the Great Houses. The accusations, the battles, the revelations they had sown distrust like poison in still water.

To mend what had been broken, and prepare Sancta Vedelia for the future revelations about Lazarus Raven, a new bond was proposed, not through war or decree, but through marriage.

An alliance between two Great Houses

The Prince and Heir of the Raven House, Cyril Magnus Raven, would be betrothed to none other than Celeste Indi Zestella, the newly anointed Prophetess of the Holy Tree of Eden.
