I Am The Game's Villain

Chapter 494: [Event] [Elven Utopian War] [33] Breaching The Walls

The third day of the assault on Valachia dawned, but by nightfall, the tide had turned in an unexpected and devastating manner.

Blood Elves, forced inland from the seas, swarmed the gates in increasing numbers, their relentless assault pounding against the cityʼs defenses. The once unbreakable Valachian forces now struggled to defend their walls and gates simultaneously.

Elashor Sarkian, the Blood Elf King, had bided his time. For two days, he held back, watching and evaluating Valachiaʼs defenses. Now, as the third day stretched, he made his move. ”Have you collected them all?” Elashor asked. ”Yes, Your Majesty! Weʼve retrieved every body we could from the Tepes forces.” One of his men gestured to a gruesome pile of corpses.

Elashorʼs lips twisted into a smirk. ”Excellent.”

He raised his hand, and the air around him thickened ominously. A massive crimson-red mana circle flared into existence above the pile of bodies. The emblems etched within its six concentric layers shimmered darkly, casting an eerie glow that bathed the battlefield in a bloody hue.

The weight of his mana descended, pressing down on everyone within its radius. Even from the walls, the Valachian defenders felt the oppressive force. Their faces turned ashen as they realized the enormity of the mana circle being summoned.

Then it began the blood. Streams of crimson liquid erupted from the corpses, flowing upward in a gravity-defying torrent. The blood spiraled into the mana circle, its vile essence fueling the Blood Spell. The circle expanded, its glow intensifying, and the stench of iron and death filled the air. ”What is he doing?!” A Valachian knight whispered, his voice trembling with dread.

The answer came as the colossal mana circle shifted, its target now fixed on the city walls. Panic rippled through the defenders immediately. ”Heʼs preparing an attack! Everyone! Ready your defensive spells! We must hold the walls!” Desperate hands and weapons were raised as Valachian knights scrambled to erect barriers.

Elashor looked at their futile attempt, almost amused. ”Your own kindʼs blood will carve the path for your doom.”

With a flick of his hand, he unleashed the spell.

The earth shook as an earsplitting explosion tore through the battlefield. From the mana circle, hundreds of bloodied hands erupted like a crimson tide, their clawed fingers reaching forward with terrifying speed. Each hand radiated destructive mana, and the shockwave from their emergence shattered the ground beneath them. ”Princess!” A Valachian knight cried out in alarm.

Atop the wall stood Elizabeth Tepes. Her dark cloak billowed in the gusts of mana-charged wind, her cold eyes fixed on the oncoming onslaught.

Elizabeth raised her rapier. Gripping the slim blade with her other hand, she let her blood bead along the edge as she sliced her fingertip across it. The sword responded, exuding a dark, smoky aura laced with the essence of her blood. The ominous cloud enveloped her, shrouding her figure in a menacing veil.

Taking a single step forward, she vanished, her movement a blur of speed as she propelled herself toward the oncoming torrent of mana. Her lips curled into a smirk as she assessed the devastating force of the attack-a seething wave of blood.

But instinct made her head snap to the right.

Out of nowhere, Elashor materialized, his blood-red sword gleaming with lethal intent. His blade aimed for her head.

Elizabeth reacted instantly. Twisting her body with impossible agility, she avoided the blow by a hairʼs breadth and retaliated with her rapier. The blade flashed toward Elashorʼs head, but he dodged with equal precision. Still, her strike found purchase in his shoulder, the sharp tip sinking into his flesh.

Elashor grunted, his eyes narrowing in pain and irritation. But the force of his earlier attack sent Elizabeth hurtling backward, crashing into the bloodstained earth with a resounding impact. Dust and debris scattered as she hit the ground.

Elashor wasted no time retreating, slipping away from the path of his own destructive spell.

The battlefield fell deathly silent for an instant. Then- -BOOOOOOM!

The bloody hands reached the walls. A deafening explosion followed, obliterating the defensive mana circles erected by the knights. The walls of Valachia crumbled under the devastating impact, stones, bricks and mortar shattering as screams of agony filled the air. The knights stationed atop the ramparts were annihilated, their bodies reduced to dust and blood amid the rubble.

Amid the chaos, Elashor landed gracefully in front of his men. ”Kill them all.”

His crimson gaze then shifted back to Elizabeth, who now stood amidst the wreckage, brushing dust from her black dress. ”I will handle the Witch.” *** ”Goddamn, youʼre heavy! What the hell are you wearing?” I groaned, dragging one of the fallen Blood Elves by his collar. His battered body hung limp in my grip, his face charred and unrecognizable from a direct hit by a fireball. ”Arghh!”

The pained groan behind me drew my attention, followed by the deafening roar of spells exploding. I turned just in time to see another group of elves struck down. Some of them fell instantly, lifeless, while others writhed in agony.

Above, atop the gates, the enemies unleashed an endless barrage. Hundreds of spells rained down on us.

On our side, Shuria stood at the front. Her voice carried above the din, commanding the Blood Elves forward, even as they struggled to counter the onslaught. Their losses were mounting, bodies piling up with every passing second.

This canʼt go on.

A pained grunt pulled my gaze to the left. I spotted Edryn crumpled on the ground, clutching his side. Without hesitation, I rushed over and offered my hand. ”Are you okay?” I asked, pulling him to his feet. ”Y-Yeah,” Edryn replied, forcing a shaky laugh. ”Just a bit tired.” ”You look worse than tired,” I said, eyeing the blood staining his armor. ”Go back and rest.” ”And let everyone else fight while I sit around? No way,” Edryn said, shaking his head with a stubborn smile. His gaze wandered to the others, still pushing forward under Shuriaʼs lead. ”Are you that eager to die?” I asked with a frown. ”Didnʼt you tell me you had a family waiting for you?”

Edrynʼs smile faltered. ”I do. And Eden knows how much I want to see them again. But this war... we have to win. If we donʼt, our future generations—my familyʼs future-will be doomed. Even though we donʼt share exactly the same genes, we are all Elves of Utopia and we are all in danger if we donʼt do anything. You, of all people, should understand that, Loki.”

What was he speaking about... ”Thanks for the help,” Edryn said. He adjusted his grip on his arm and walked forward, limping slightly.

I watched as he rejoined the Blood Elves. Their battered ranks pressed on, shouting encouragement to one another despite the carnage. At the forefront, Shuria remained there as strong as ever. She was the only woman among them, yet she led with more strength, than others. ”What would the ʼyouʼ of Earth have done?”

Cleenahʼs voice echoed in my mind. I clenched my fists.

Kneeling beside a fallen Blood Elf, I reached for his sword. ”Forgive me,” I muttered, my gaze lifting to the enemyʼs walls. My grip tightened around the hilt. ”Itʼs for my mother.”

I gritted my teeth and I surged forward, rushing past Shuria and the others. Their shouts of surprise and protest faded behind me as I sprinted headlong toward the gates, toward the storm of spells.

Before I could reach the walls, the Valachian knights turned their attention toward me. Their shouts ringing as elemental spells emerging from their mana circles rained down-fireballs crackling with heat, spears of ice, gusts of wind sharp as blades, and jagged rocks hurtling through the air.

I raised my free hand in a sweeping motion, conjuring a shimmering barrier of mirrors around me. ”Reflect.”

The mirrors flared to life, catching the incoming spells. -BOOOM!

Cries of pain echoed as the deflected attacks shot back toward the walls. ”Arghh!” ”Urghh!” ”A-Aghh!”

The retaliation was merciless. Knights were flung off the battlements, some falling limp to the ground, others writhing in agony. ”What happened?!” ”I donʼt know! Stop her!”

More spells came hurtling toward me. I summoned additional mirrors, each one gleaming.

The attacks were turned back on their casters, thinning their ranks. The wall, once bristling with defenders, was now a graveyard of fallen knights.

I was close-barely a hundred meters away-but the tide shifted. The knights abandoned their standard spells, replacing them with blood-induced magic. The mana circles glowed an ominous crimson, pulsating with raw blood. Weapons forged of blood streaked toward me at blinding speeds. ”Raven Arts,” I whispered.

I felt the transformation take hold quickly. My skin turned slighlty pale, my senses sharpened to an unbearable degree. Every sound, every heartbeat, every ripple of mana was as clear as day. My speed surged, and I dodged the attacks.

The spells I couldnʼt evade, I parried with my blade. Even so, some of the blood weapons struck true, forcing me to skid back and leap away to recover. Pain flared with each impact, but

I pressed forward. ”What in the world?! She isnʼt affected?!” ”She doesnʼt seem to be a Blood Elf! How?!” ”Who cares?! Donʼt let her reach the walls!”

It was already too late.

With a final burst of speed, I launched myself toward the walls. My grip tightened on my sword reinforcing with my Ruah. White sands coiled around the blade like restless serpents.

But the weapon couldnʼt withstand the sands of Fate even with my Ruah and mana as it began to disintegrate in my hands. But I didnʼt need it to last. Just one strike was enough. Channeling Samaraʼs ability, I propelled myself mid-air, the remnants of my sword glowing with white-hot intensity. As I neared the wall, I caught fleeting glimpses of the knightsʼ faces -wide eyes, mouths agape, paralyzed by terror.

There was no time for hesitation.

With both hands on the crumbling hilt, I swung my sword in a wide, horizontal arc. -BOOOOM!
