Esper Harem in the Apocalypse

Chapter 768 Anomalous Existence

The shadow was pitch black with no body or facial features. Only its limbs, head, and fingers were shaped, making it look humanoid.

The shadowʼs shadow fell on sleeping Janet, but it didnʼt have the abyssal black like the original shadow.

It moved its hands towards Janet and uttered in a deep yet ethereal voice that sounded neither masculine nor feminine.

[You are an anomaly. You shouldnʼt exist. You were never supposed to exist. Your father… whoever he was, he didnʼt belong to the timeline he met your mother in. You were never supposed to be born.

Janet Liousenne… You need to die. You need to cease to exist. You are the reason Rudy has to die. Even in the last timeline, you werenʼt supposed to exist, but we didnʼt do anything, hoping you wouldnʼt be a problem.

We thought you were just one of the thousands of other anomalies which would automatically cease to exist once they were eaten up by the mother universe. But you… were formidable.

Everything was going well in the last timeline, but your interference in Rudyʼs life messed everything up. Sadly, we had to kill him, but strangely… even after getting hit by a truck at high speed and breaking every bone of his body… he survived.

How did he survive something like that? And he didnʼt die… he didnʼt die for days and months. In fact… he was recovering. How? Who was helping him do that? We are the ones who created him!

We are the ones who gave him his powers. We are the ones who decide everything. We are the slaves of the mother universe… and no one can go against our will. We donʼt follow any rules and laws… they donʼt exist for us… except one…

We canʼt interfere or change anything once the said reality has begun. If we wanted, we would have gotten rid of him the night he got into the accident. And then… he gained… no, he was…

We couldnʼt figure out why everything didnʼt go as it was supposed to. The Lord in that timeline wasnʼt Rudy, but it was someone close to him. And she was the slave of her emotions.

Sadly, we had to get rid of her too. We had to erase that timeline since it has become unrepairable. In the current timeline… everything was going the same until you… you made an impact in his life.

Itʼs a good thing we noticed it at an early stage. If we get rid of you now, everything will be fixed!]

The shadow pointed its finger at Janet, and a small dotted black matter appeared on the tip of its finger. Slowly, the matter got bigger and began to suck everything inside as if it was a black hole.

Soon, the border of the black matter turned red, and everything began shaking as lightning came out of it.

[Farewell, Janet Liousenne. Yes, it is a rule that we cannot interfere directly with the universe. However, you are not a part of this or any universe, to begin with. So we have permission to remove you from existence.

But donʼt you worry, no one will remember you. Everyone will forget about you, even Rudy. You will be removed from time and space, all your belongings, pictures… everything will disappear with you... just like that little girl from the tunnel. She interfered too much!]

After saying that, the shadow shot the matter at Janet. However, it grabbed it in its hand and closed its fist.

[Tsk! He is here. I will have to finish this job another time. Or better yet, I should wait until he dies and a new Lord is born.]

The shadow disappeared into thin air as though it had never existed, just like the smoke of the fire that vanishes when there is no more fire.

Meanwhile, Rudy finished eating his dinner and went to the washroom as an excuse to take a bath, while in truth, he teleported to Elenaʼs room after locking the washroom door.

There, he found his phone on the table.

ʼThere it is. So it was here, after all. I thought I had left it in my school bag. Well, that would have been fine too. As long as I didnʼt lose it.ʼ

He used telekinesis to pull the phone in his hands.

ʼOh, I have missed calls? Thatʼs rare. Letʼs see…ʼ

Rudy checked the call logs and let out a short sigh.

ʼItʼs from Maria and Rias.ʼ

Since Rudy missed their calls, they thought he must be busy, so they left a message instead.

He opened Mariaʼs message and read, ”Do you find vampire girls hot, or would you rather try your luck on wolf girls?”

ʼWhat the… whatʼs with this question? And did she seriously call me to ask that? Also.. I donʼt think wolf girls actually exist.ʼ

He then opened Riasʼ message and read, ”Do you find the romance between a vampire and a human better than the romance between vampire and wolf?”

ʼSeriously… what the fuck are they doing? I bet they found another movie or show about vampires and wolves.ʼ

”Mnh… Rudy…” Eleanor muttered.

Rudy turned to Eleanor, thinking she had woken up because of his voice, but she was speaking in her sleep.

”Harder… Rudy…”

”...” Rudy shook his head and muttered, ”I donʼt want to know what type of dream she is having.”

He covered Eleanorʼs body with a blanket and kissed her on the forehead.

”Sleep well.”

He looked at the time on his phone and mumbled, ”Itʼs 21:21.. not a bad time to call someone.”

Rudy dialed Janetʼs number to make sure she had reached home, but he was left even more anxious than before when his call didnʼt get through as Janetʼs phone was dead.

He instantly teleported to the schoolʼs infirmary and saw Janet sleeping on the couch in a sitting position.

”...”

His ears immediately twitched crazily as he heard the sirenʼs sound going off in his brain.

”What is this… feeling…?”

He activated his vision ability and scanned the room.

ʼWhat the…ʼ

In the middle of the room, he saw a trail of ashes floating in the air in a spiral shape.

”...Shadow…”
