Esper Harem in the Apocalypse

Chapter 504 Modern Vampires

”Any last words?” Janet asked with a dead glare in her eyes.

”You have got the wrong guy.”

”I have been waiting for you to pick me up!” Janet yelled furiously.

”But I thought you werenʼt coming to school today.”

”Why would you think that?!” she slammed her hands on Rudyʼs desk.

”Well, if someone stayed awake for the entire day and worked a shift for the rest of the night, itʼs extremely obvious that the person wouldnʼt come to school the next day. I mean, I wouldnʼt,” he shrugged.

Alice shot a judging glance at Rudy after hearing that. She was well aware that Rudy didnʼt sleep for most of the nights and still came to school every day.

Janet bit her lips and said, ”You are doing this one purpose to get revenge on me for bullying you a little, right? Is it fun to play with an innocent maidenʼs heart?”

”I am not taking any revenge. My revenge is not ʼthatʼ petty. And excuse you, miss. When we parted ways this morning, you clearly said, ʼI am going to sleepʼ. So anyone would assume you meant to sleep for the rest of the day and not two hours.”

”Well…”

”Letʼs just solve this matter as it was a misunderstanding, and we both were at fault. You didnʼt specify that you would be coming today, but itʼs also my fault for not asking for clarification. I will now pick you up every morning with Alice, happy?”

Janet nodded meekly and said, ”Can we go home together too?”

”Uhh…”

ʼI want to say no as Alice and I are going to meet the vampire gang, but I canʼt turn her down after promising, especially after this misunderstanding,ʼ Rudy uttered inwardly.

”Yeah, sure. We will leave when the school hours end.”

”Hmm.”

Janet glanced at Alice and muttered, ”Must be lucky to be you.”

”Anyway, you didnʼt answer my question. Why did you come here when you havenʼt slept for more than 24 hours. And I doubt you got enough sleep after we parted ways this morning,” Rudy asked calmly.

”I didnʼt want to ruin my perfect attendance,” Janet replied and returned to her desk as the teacher had arrived.

Rudy lowered his gaze and thought, ʼI think I know a reason why I was attracted… no, why Janet and I will become good friends in the future. In the university, Janet had stopped trying to become someone she wasnʼt and lived like who she was. We are both similar. I can see my old self in her.

Honestly, though, those small achievements meant a lot to me, and I tried my best to complete them, but in the end, all that didnʼt matter. One should live every moment fully so they donʼt regret not doing something when they had the opportunity.

I now feel the same, but after a lot of regrets. I guess… I have changed. Is it for good or worse? I donʼt know. But I can confidently say that I am enjoying my life!ʼ

Fast forwarding to the end of school hours, Rudy, Alice, and Janet, went home together.

”Thanks for walking home with me. Donʼt be late tomorrow,” she remarked with a judging look on her face.

”Wait.” Rudy called out to her and said, ”Why donʼt you give us your contact information. You can also have ours. That way, you can just call or message her whenever you want.”

Janetʼs face flushed a little after hearing that. She immediately took out her phone and exchanged contact information with Rudy and Alice.

”Donʼt you dare spam call or message me, or you will go straight to my block list,” Rudy said jokingly.

After that, Janet parted ways with them as her house was in the opposite direction from Alice and Rudyʼs street. However, she was content with what happened today.

After todayʼs incident in the morning, she had been dying to get Rudyʼs phone number, but she was hesitant to ask for it as —according to her— they had just begun to have regular conversations. Hence, when Rudy suggested exchanging contact information, she felt blissful.

”Is she gone?” Alice asked Rudy while glancing back and forth in all directions.

Rudy was scanning the area with his vision abilities one by one.

”Yeah, she is gone.”

Rudy grabbed Alice and teleported them straight to the vampire gang.

They all had just woken up, but Jane looked the most sleepy.

”Good morning… I guess?” He greeted them.

Rias was sitting on her bed, and Jane was lying on the bed, using her phone. While Niti and Vriti were the only ones who had gotten out of bed.

”Niti, Vriti, you two donʼt have to do any chores here. I didnʼt bring you here for that. You are here as Rias and Janeʼs maids, so only focus on their needs, okay?”

”Okay,” Niti and Vriti said in unison.

Rudy turned to Rias and said, ”Had a good sleep?”

”Hmm.”

”What about you, Jane?”

”...”

”Jane?”

”....”

Jane didnʼt reply as she was too immersed in using her phone.

ʼMaybe it was a bad idea to give phones to the girls. The modern world has already started its effect.ʼ

Rudy snatched the phone from Janeʼs hand using telekinesis and looked at what she was doing on her phone.

She had searched, ʼHow can a vampire walk under the sun?ʼ on the internet.

”Did you seriously believe you would find an answer on the internet?” Rudy asked in disbelief.

”Well, Angelica told me I can find a solution to everything on the internet. Was she lying?”

”No, but there are certain limitations. And the internet can only provide you information about the human world and humans. Everything else would be fake.”

”I see. So I will have to visit this person and ask face to face to make sure they are not lying,” Jane muttered.

”Visit who?”

”The internet,” Jane shrugged her shoulders as though it was something obvious.

”....” Rudy shook his head and face palmed himself. He didnʼt say a word and glanced back and forth at Vriti and Niti to realize they both also had the same idea.
