Esper Harem in the Apocalypse

Chapter 467 Who To Blame

Rusher gulped down anxiously and took a deep breath before saying anything. He was prepared for what was going to come. The worst thing that could happen to him was a divorce.

When Rusher had an incestuous relationship with his twin sister— Ria, he hadnʼt met his wife— Nyara, yet. Even when he got her pregnant, he hadnʼt met his wife.

Even incestuous, that was his past relationship, and Nyara couldnʼt judge him for that as it was before he met her, although it was surely questionable. However, even after he met Nyara and later married her, he still continued his relationship with his sister.

If he were to confess everything to Nyara, there was a high chance that she was going to divorce him, and their whole family would break apart.

Rusher was prepared for the worst.

He looked into Nyaraʼs eyes and then glanced at Maria, who was looking at him with a curious and confused look on her face. She had no idea what was going to come.

Even Rudy was afraid of how Maria would react.

ʼI noticed it before when I was playing dead after the boss shot me, that Maria is mentally unstable. Even Rusher had mentioned something about her having a mental breakdown ʼagainʼ. Not in a way one would think, but she is mentally weak. She was ready to kill herself back then.

So this can also easily go wrong. Honestly, anyone would start questioning their existence quite literally. I canʼt imagine how one would feel if someone told them that the family members they considered their brother and sister were actually their biological parents who produced you from an incestuous activity.

But well… I am not the one to judge here. I have no right to say that after I look at mom that way. If I tell her my honest feelings, wouldnʼt she feel the same as Maria would feel when Rusher will confess everything?

Part of me doesnʼt want that to happen, but the other part wants her to know everything. This is honestly mind blogging. Even if Rusher doesnʼt tell her now, Maria will realize it one day eventually. And then she would ask me if I knew about it. I donʼt want to break her trust.ʼ

Even Rudy was feeling a bit anxious, so he held Lilimʼs hand, who was standing beside him. Lilim glanced at Rudy in surprise but didnʼt say anything.

”What is it?” Nyara asked. ”Hurry up. Itʼs late at night, and I want to go to sleep. I donʼt even remember how I got outside, so there is that. You said you would tell that in the morning when everyone is at the dining table, so if what you are going to tell now is not that important, then why donʼt you just tell everything in the morning altogether?”

”This is… important.” Rusher exhaled sharply and said, ”The truth is that Maria is actually—”

”Father, I am home,” a loud, feminine voice said from behind.

Rusher looked past Nyaraʼs shoulder and saw Ruby standing at the doorway.

”Ruby… when did you…?” Rusher had no idea Ruby had returned, nor did he know that she had won the VIP underworld tournament.

”Whatʼs going on here?” she asked while glancing around. ”Why is the door broken?”

”Some angry people—”

”Oh, you mean them.” Ruby walked past Nyara and Rusher and stood in front of Rudy. She looked into his eyes with a soft glare and said, ”In other words, he is responsible for that, am I right?”

”If you put it that way, yes,” Rusher nodded.

”This is the only way to put it. This wouldnʼt have happened if he had not made such a stupid challenge. Had he not skipped the tournament today, this wouldnʼt have happened,” she said while glaring into Rudyʼs eyes.

”If your family wasnʼt kidnapped, I would have made it to the tournament, and this wouldnʼt have happened.” Rudy shrugged his shoulders and said, ”In other words, itʼs technically your fatherʼs fault.”

”But you made the challenge before this happened, so you are responsible for it.”

”How bold of you to assume that you would have won the VIP tournament,” Ruby scoffed softly. ”I was planning to return in todayʼs tournament anyway, so we would have faced each other.”

”Mind your manners, little girl. You are standing in front of #1 in the underworld. Have some respect.”

Rudy and Ruby glared into each otherʼs eyes, and neither of them wanted to back off. Ruby was right, and Rudy was also right. It was one of those rare situations where neither of the parties was in the wrong.

”Letʼs stop blaming each other,” Maria interjected and stood between Rudy and Ruby so they couldnʼt glare at each other. However, both Ruby and Rudy were tall compared to Maria, so that didnʼt do anything.

Ruby raised her brows and said with a judging look on her face, ”I see. So you are already taking his side now, huh?”

”I am not taking anyoneʼs side!”

”Is that so?” Ruby squinted her eyes and said, ”Then you should have blamed him with me. What I am saying is true. Itʼs also true that father and you all were kidnapped by the Under Blades because of fatherʼs action. But that could have happened any day. It could have happened tomorrow too. The issue here is that he made such a stupid challenge.”

”What makes you think that? It had to be today, you know? If it was tomorrow, then I would have never known or heard about it as there is no tournament tomorrow, and I wouldnʼt have come here.”

”...” Ruby raised her brows in confusion and muttered, ”But… you would have made it to the tournament and either completed or failed the challenge. Either way, they wouldnʼt have marched here and done all the damage.”

”Uhh… there seems to be a misunderstanding…”

”What?”

”They didnʼt break the door. They didnʼt even get past the fifth check post, so it makes no sense for them to destroy the door.”

”Then who did it? The Under Blades?” she asked curiously. ”If that was the case, then I apologize for my rudeness.”

”It was me.”

”...!”

However, it was indeed Rudy who had destroyed the door, although he did that because he didnʼt receive any response from the other side.
