Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1254: The Seeds

After revealing that all the chosen heroes and heroines were indeed a part of the Demon God left behind across the multiverse, Morpheus also revealed that their lives were also a result of his own sufferings across different lives the Demon God has lived.

“We all reflect one aspect of one of his countless lives over the billions of years.

When the Demon God planted all of us, who would be born in different worlds, timelines, eras of civilization and a random species… he had to make us all distinct.

So that even if he died in Vantrea, he would resurrect in some other world and find a way to come back here.

The war against him started 3000 years ago in name only, but in reality, his birth was imminent billions of years ago.” revealed Morpheus.

This basically exposed the whole Demon God being birthed over 10,000 years ago due to the bloodshed caused by Kravel, the War Deity, as nothing but a mere lie.

“First, we had to become a vessel for him to return in case he truly died in Vantrea. And for it to happen, he imparted the essence of those lives as an aspect that tied our life force across the multiverse.” iterated the 8th Hero of Darkness.

“Let me ask you something about your life before.” said Morpheus.

Soon, his countenance turned serious as Morpheus asked…

“What kind of parents abandon their own child for no apparent reason? Did you never wonder why they treated you as if you didn’t exist for them?

What about your siblings? They also grew up with you, so why were you treated like an outsider by them?

As you struggled through loneliness and even depression in your last days… was the world really so empty that not a single person reached their hand to you?”

Shock!

The moment he raised those questions… Kahn’s entire body jolted in shock as his mind turned hazy.

He tried to find a reason, such as him being an unwanted child or his parents having selfish character. But it also felt like this is how he projected them in his consciousness as a child, and not the facts.

“I… I do not have an answer.” responded Kahn, his entire being frozen from this conundrum.

“And most importantly?…

Why did you never take matters into your own hands to change your life?

Was it really that difficult, or did you just not even have that survival instinct within you from birth?” asked Moprheus.

Kahn was shocked again beyond belief.

[Why? Why did I never choose to change myself and just keep carrying on with everything that made me unhappy?

Was it that hard to find a bunch of like-minded people or even take necessary steps, such as going to the gym or joining a support group for people going through depression like me?

Why did I become my own enemy?] asked Kahn to himself.

At this point, he wondered if he truly even had a real life as Elric Johnson.

“He has planted millions of people like us in different worlds.

Every life he lived and suffered across billions of years, became all of our fates.

Most of us have similar but distinct lives. You and I faced our fates differently, but we know both of our ends would be to die a life of regret.” stated Morpheus.

“I would have eventually died at the hands of the Outer Gods despite my unending struggle to survive, and you just chose to kill yourself even if you still had hope left.” elaborated Morpheus as he dived deep into their previous lives.

“How? How did you find out something like that?

Are you telling me that my entire life has been a complete lie?” asked Kahn, shaken to his core.

“No. Your life was just as real as mine. And to be honest, even though we all were meant to suffer, I’ve seen that many versions of millions of seeds like us have eventually overcome their fate and managed to live their lives happily after a certain time in their life.

If they managed to live past their greatest moments of peril that is.” spoke Morpheus as he assured Kahn.

“So you mean to tell me that if I hadn’t committed suicide that night…” spoke Kahn with great hesitation, asking a question that he didn’t want an answer to.

“Yes. You would have lived like a normal human being. And most likely, you would have never been summoned here in the first place, just like all the other versions of you have across the multiverse.” reiterated Morpheus.

Kahn was both gobsmacked and regretful at this moment.

He had an entirely different life awaiting him if he hadn’t jumped from the building that night.

Maybe that life would be a mediocre one. But there was a high chance that it’d be a peaceful one.

It was right then… Kahn remembered a specific encounter.

“Raum, the God of Space.” he said with his eyes wide open.

“What’s with him?” asked the previous Hero of Darkness.

Kahn, on the other end, responded…

“When I met him after achieving the 4th Enlightenment in the Space Law… he mentioned that there are thousands of Kahn Salvatore in different worlds and timelines.

Some of them were even reincarnated in different worlds and had achieved many more things than I did as Elric Johnson.

Yet out of all of those highly successful and capable Kahn Salvatores… the God of Darkness chose me among them despite my lack of real-world achievements or eligibility.

All of it because…”

It was Morpheus who finished the sentence.

“You were a seed, just like me.”

******************

At this point, it became clear that if they weren’t the seeds among their counterparts across the multiverse, both Kahn and Morpheus would’ve never been chosen as the Heroes.

“So you mean we were the unlikest, among the unlikest?” asked Kahn as he facepalmed.

“Umm… You could say that.”

“Hey! You’re not exactly evoking confidence in me! How am I supposed to fight the Demon God after knowing this?”

“The fact that you know this… is exactly why you have the highest chance to kill the Demon God.”

Kahn then asked with a serious tone…

“Why did the Gods and Goddesses choose us of all the people then?”

“Because we are the only ones who can kill him. If a normal human from any world came, became a Demi-God and killed the Demon God, he would resurrect on the spot.

It wouldn’t even matter if it were another version of Morpheus Constantine or Kahn Salvatore.” responded Morpheus.

“You are the only seed amongst all the others, just like I was among my variants.

We were just unfortunate enough to catch the eyes of these gods. At least, both of us know about the truth, unlike all the other Heroes and Heroines.

They probably would never find it because they haven’t killed him themselves and also didn’t spend decades researching this possibility like me.” iterated Morpheus sternly.

“He would just use some of the seeds across the multiverse to supplement his lifespan and resurrect on the spot.

That is why it’s only we who could stop him.” he spoke with a confident tone.

“What makes you so sure? Do we have some advantage because we’re all just Demon God seeds?” asked Kahn.

To his question, Morpheus revealed a pleasant smirk, acting happy for the first time.

“Because we are also the virus that can eradicate its own creator.”
