Wizard: Stronger through Marriage

Chapter 863: Chapter 387: Triple Shackles

”This... how is this possible!”

David was stunned, his heart filled with shock and confusion.

Everything he had understood before now seemed so small and powerless in the face of this truth.

Lucia had knelt on the ground at this point, covering her face, with blood as radiant and sparkling as stars flowing from the corners of her eyes.

The intertwining red and gold seemed to speak of her pain and despair from the depths of her heart: ”We are all... the Tomb Guardians...”

She muttered to herself, her voice trembling and low, like a hopeless fawn looking back into endless darkness.

”We have always been deceived, the information fed to us by the Church has obscured the truth.” David slowly walked toward Lucia.

He felt an invisible force trying to drag them into a deeper level of unease.

”Our existence is to guard this secret from being disturbed by the outside, to prevent a greater catastrophe from coming.”

The First Pope seemed to sense their conflict in consciousness, his cold and grand voice rang out again:

”If you continue to search, you will be drawn into an inescapable cycle. Time is meant to be constant and irreversible, you are merely small chess pieces, do not try to challenge fate!”

”We are no longer chess pieces!”

Lucia suppressed the pain, she stood up, looking determinedly at those scarlet multi-eyes, ”We choose our destiny! Even if we must face the unknown, we will never again be sleepers!”

Her words ignited the unyielding will hidden deep in David’s heart like flames.

He gripped the Silver Moon Sword, stepped forward forcefully, standing shoulder to shoulder with Lucia, gazing together at those multi-eyes.

”If this is our fate, then let it be the starting point of our rebellion against darkness and pursuit of truth!”

At that moment, the multi-eyes suddenly shrunk to a point, then exploded outwardly again, a formidable force, seemingly tearing through space, crashed down.

The surrounding space began to collapse, the Earth shook violently, an abyss-like calling message surged toward the two.

”Prepare for the true test!”

The First Pope said coldly, the words like a cold blade cutting through their souls, pushing them into a thick and unknown new realm.

David closed his eyes, he felt time passing rapidly, various information continuously burning his soul.

However, under this destructive impact, they found themselves gradually becoming clearer.

The Light Vortex gradually unfolded its true form before David, like a door leading to another world, magnificent and mysterious.

Countless shimmering points of light were like elves dancing among the galaxies, gathered into a powerful force, as if an invisible hand was summoning him.

”David,” a deep and powerful voice came from the center of the vortex, ”you need to inherit this force to combat the impending darkness.”

”How should I bear this force?”

David felt a sudden palpitation, he knew what this meant. The Power of Light was not only redemption but a kind of responsibility and burden.

At the same time, Lucia’s gaze was drawn to the scenes spinning with mysterious runes, suddenly realizing deeper secrets hidden by the First Pope.

The runes depicted not only time and space but even more terrifying truths—

”The Pope used these forces to create the Holy White Cage... to imprison the deity!” She exclaimed, ”The entire Church is a furnace of consciousness!”

”What?” David snapped back, he gripped Lucia’s shoulders firmly, ”What are you talking about?”

Lucia bit her lower lip, trying to organize her words: ”The First Pope wasn’t simply pursuing faith.”

”But rather using the followers’ desire for truth and the depths of their souls, by constantly absorbing their pain and desires in consciousness, transforming this energy into the force needed to control the deity imprisoned within the Holy White Cage. He hoped to use this power to fulfill his desire for eternal dominion over everything!”

As she spoke, the scenes illuminated by the faintly glowing runes gradually became clearer.

In an ancient and magnificent great hall, countless devotees prayed devoutly, their souls gradually fading, being extracted as invisible energy converging into the massive Holy White Cage.

That cage, like a giant crystal, refracted a meticulous yet ruthless ominous atmosphere, countless images imprisoned inside seemed to be calling out but unable to escape.

”We have always lived under this illusion construction.”

Lucia’s eyes showed fear and anger intertwined, her heart was full of defiance, ”Our faith has been twisted into shackles that bind ourselves, yet we are oblivious to the truth within!”

Then, the voice from the vortex sounded again: ”Choose! Either inherit my power, use it to liberate all the oppressed; or reject it, let darkness continue to devour everything.”

David felt his heart pounding wildly, he knew he was facing the most significant choice of his life.

He looked around, at the uneasy scenes woven from reality and illusion, once again at Lucia, her determined but fragile side evoking his respect.

”I cannot give up! For my future, for all those oppressed, I will accept the challenge!”

He slowly raised his palm, resonating with that Light Vortex.

A warm current flowed through his entire body, cleansing every cell.

He felt a newfound freshness he had never experienced, it was a transcendence beyond oneself, and a supreme responsibility.
