Wizard: Stronger through Marriage

Chapter 514: Chapter 212: Adorable Witch_2

”This is a record I obtained from a wanderer, which is said to mention a ruin containing critical clues about the lost Divine Hall. And the path to the ruins connects to the place you wish to find...”

”My team still needs a wizard, and I think you’re suitable.” The merchant spoke with a smile, a silver gleam flashing in his eyes.

This was a detection spell he mastered, allowing him to sense the magic power fluctuations within his target and discern that the person in front of him was indeed a First-Ring Mage.

Wild First-Ring Mages are not common, this is an opportunity for them.

David pondered for a moment, opened the scroll to take a look, and his face revealed an expression of surprise.

He didn’t expect to unexpectedly gain news of a ruin, but the merchant was clearly spreading the news about the ruins, intending to lure more people there, likely to gain benefits later, but the risks would certainly not be small.

David calculated the ruin mentioned by the merchant in his mind.

He realized that this piece of information might signify opening new opportunities, but also housed unknown dangers.

David slightly frowned, knowing this guy was evidently not simple, yet he didn’t want him to notice his wariness.

El discerned David’s hesitation and continued, ”If you’re willing, I can help you find more clues about the ruins and Bloodline Mages. I have my channels and resources, and we can cooperate and explore together.”

Despite his inner vigilance, David also knew that some things cannot be done by oneself alone; he thought for a moment and then said, ”Cooperation? How exactly do we proceed?”

”Listen carefully.” El moved a bit closer and spoke in a low and urgent tone, ”This ruin is located next to an abandoned village.”

”And it’s rumored that there are some strange creatures active in the village; I happen to have a team preparing to go on an adventure, if you can join us, we can go together, and then figure out a way to enter the ruins.”

David considered thoroughly and laughed, ”Alright, I’ll join. But we must agree on some rules, including sharing information and distributing benefits.”

El nodded, ”Of course, that’s the basic principle, we’ll prepare tonight and set out tomorrow morning.”

David stayed at an inn for the night, and the next day, he relied on the Beastification Mark to conjure a doppelgänger to head to the meeting place.

Under the sunlight, six distinct individuals gathered together, including a swordsman who was a body refining mage, a witch proficient in magic, and several experienced explorers.

Under the shine of the sun, the witch was like a ray of light, attracting everyone’s attention.

Her long hair was as smooth as silk, cascading down her shoulders in gentle waves, golden strands glistening warmly in the sunlight.

Her bright and deep eyes were as dazzling as the starry sky, exuding liveliness, while her skin was akin to delicate porcelain, fair and glistening.

The witch was dressed in a light and flowing robe embroidered with exquisite and mysterious runes, perfectly complementing her elegant and slender figure.

Whenever a breeze blew, her robe lightly danced like petals in a summer day, swaying in the sunlight.

She was not only beautiful in appearance but also emitted a sense of gentleness and kindness that made others feel immensely at ease.

The hint of a smile at her lips radiated an invisible charm and amiability, making people want to approach and converse with her.

David glanced at the witch, feeling a slight ripple in his heart; if possible, he would do everything to protect this beautiful witch.

”Let’s go, we’re heading towards the abandoned village!” El shouted.

The team traversed along rugged paths towards the abandoned village, with the surrounding vegetation gradually becoming more dense, and sunlight spilling fragmented shadows through the leaves.

”There’s something odd about the creatures in this village,” El said upfront, ”We need to be cautious.”

”You mean those strange monsters?”

David inquired; he thought of the bloodline modification experiments.

”That’s right,” El nodded, ”From what I understand, these monsters are controlled by some ancient power, they might protect the ruins or attack intruders.”

As they stepped deeper into the village, a peculiar and pungent smell permeated the air.

Everything around appeared exceptionally eerie; the houses were mottled and shabby, the ground covered with a thick layer of moss, and even the birds seemed unwilling to approach this place.

When they finally reached the village center, a feeling of unease hung over the team.

Just then, a low and hoarse roar came from the darkness, accompanied by shadows flickering by.

”Prepare for battle!”

El promptly ordered, retreating swiftly while others quickly picked up weapons, ready for combat.

Several monsters emerged from the shadows, their massive bodies and twisted muscles resembling a fusion between humans and some kind of beast.

Their skin was like scales, hard and tough, with eyes glowing with wildness and anger.

”I’ll distract them, you flank from the sides!”

David said in a deep voice, aiming at the closest monster, then used the Beastification Mark to enhance his strength, launching himself forward.

The swordsman and witch swiftly dashed to the sides, each unleashing their skills.

In the battle, everyone exerted themselves fully, fighting fiercely against these powerful creatures.

The swordsman struck a sharp blade towards a monster, while the witch waved her magic staff in the air, channeling a lightning bolt to directly hit another enemy.

At this moment, David was just displaying the normal strength of a First-Ring Body Refining Mage, entangled with one of the bloodline modified monsters.

This bloodline modified monster also surprisingly had the strength of a First-Ring Mage.

This piqued his interest in the possible ruins even more; perhaps he could indeed find the legacy of Bloodline Mages within.

Finally, with a precise stab, the monster let out a painful and furious roar, collapsing to the ground, no longer moving.

Meanwhile, the other members also successively repelled or knocked down enemies, leaving only one last struggling monster with no place to flee.

At this point, they finally caught their breath, gazing at the group of defeated bloodline modified creatures.

”We must find the ruins quickly.” El said urgently, ”These creatures are guarding not just the village, but deeper information.”

David nodded, after his companions organized their equipment, they all headed to the depths of the abandoned village together.

After passing by dilapidated buildings and paths overgrown with weeds, a concealed entrance gradually revealed itself, covered with vines and moss—it’s a door leading to the underground ruins.

They exchanged glances, each face reflecting excitement and tension; this would be a journey into the unknown, filled with lurking dangers.

El took a deep breath, leading the way towards the concealed door.

The vines on the door seemed to have life, quivering slightly, as if warning them about the unease ahead.

David and the other team members followed closely, weapons in hand, watching their surroundings vigilantly.

”Ready?” El asked softly.

”Absolutely.”

The team members spoke in unison.

El pushed forcefully against the heavy wooden door, accompanied by a screeching creak as it slowly opened.

What unfolded before them was a dark and damp passage, flanked by ancient and crumbling stone walls, covered in moss and unknown runes.

The air carried a scent of mold and a faint metallic aroma.

The team treaded carefully forward, occasionally lighting the area with flashlights.

”Watch your step,” the swordsman reminded, ”the floor might be slippery.”

The passage gradually narrowed, forcing them to cling to the walls as they proceeded.

Suddenly, a low echo reverberated through the open space, making everyone stop.[/p>

”Did you hear?”

The witch whispered, sweat glistening on her forehead, ”This sound...it’s like it’s warning us of something.”
