Chapter 2191  Auction for a Single Gold Coin(2)

It took a couple of hours, but Yuanʼs group eventually made it to the entrance of the auction house.

”Iʼm sorry, but the seats are already fully occupied. If youʼre here to bid for the gold coin, youʼll have to do so out here,” said the worker at the entrance.

Yuan didnʼt say anything and retrieved the token he got from Chen Cheng, showing it to him.

The workerʼs eyes widened at the sight of the token, and he quickly said, ”Please excuse me for not recognizing you, esteemed guests! We have reserved seats for you all in room three!”

He then stepped aside to let Yuanʼs group into the building.

”Hey! How come they get to go inside but weʼre not?!”

Those who werenʼt allowed inside began complaining outside. However, Yuanʼs group simply ignored them and quickly disappeared inside.

A few minutes later, they arrived at their room and went inside. Their room was located above the ground floor, allowing them not only a perfect view of the stage but also of other guests.

Yuan and the others took a seat by the window and began waiting for the auction to begin.

”Most of these guests are mortals with a few cultivators sprinkled within,” Yuan remarked as he gazed at the crowd.

”Iʼm not surprised. Only collectors would be interested in something like a gold coin since it doesnʼt have any practical use,” said Wu Qi.

Minutes later, they heard a knock on the door.

”Esteemed guests, itʼs me, Chen Cheng. May I bother you for a moment?”

”You can enter.”

”Thank you.”

Chen Cheng opened the door and bowed to them, ”I came here immediately after hearing of your arrival. I hope this room is to your liking. If not, we can change it.”

”Our room is just fine. Do you need something from us?” Yuan asked.

”Itʼs not me. The Chaotic Sect wants to have an audience with you,” said Chen Cheng. ”After I spread news of the spirit stone and notified the Chaotic Sect, I was contacted by them and was told they wanted to speak with you.”

”Did they say what they wanted to speak to me about?”

Chen Cheng shook his head.

”No, I was not told the details.”

Yuan pondered for a moment before responding, ”Tell them Iʼll speak with them after the auction—for the spirit stone.”

”Is it not possible to speak to them before? They sounded a bit impatient…”

”So what? Itʼs just five days. They can wait,” Yuan calmly replied, leaving Chen Cheng speechless.

”I understand. Iʼll let them know. If you need any service or have any questions, there will be a servant available right outside your room. Now, if youʼll excuse me.” Chen Cheng bowed to him before leaving the room.

”Why are you making the Chaotic Sect wait? Theyʼre one of the most powerful and influential backgrounds in this world…” Wu Qi stared at him with a dazed and confused face.

”They probably want to see if they can buy the spirit stone directly from me. Even if thatʼs not the case, Iʼm just trying to send a message.”

”A message?” Wu Qi became even more puzzled.

Yuan smiled but did not elaborate.

Seeing how Yuan didnʼt want to explain, Wu Qi didnʼt press further and returned to looking at the platform below.

About an hour later, Chen Cheng walked onto the platform and stood before the crowd with a satisfied smile on his face. The Chaosʼ Auction House had a thousand seats, but there were usually no more than a hundred or so guests. However, not a single seat was empty today. ”Welcome to the Chaosʼ Auction House, fellow guests and esteemed guests. I am Chen Cheng, an appraiser for the auction house. Normally, the auction is done by someone else, but due to circumstances, I will be hosting it today. Therefore, allow me to apologize in advance for my lack of experience and any mistakes I may make during the auction.”

”Before we begin, allow me to explain some of our rules…”

Chen Cheng proceeded to reveal the typical auction rules.

”You are not allowed to threaten other guests with your background. Once you call out a bid, you are not able to take it back—”

A few minutes later.

”Now, let us begin the auction! For our first treasure, we have an excellent sword crafted by the renowned blacksmith Xi Yang from the…”

Yuan watched the auction with interest at first, but his interest disappeared after several items when he realized that everything being auctioned was meant for mortals. ʼWhat was I expecting from the Primordial Realm, a world where there is no natural spiritual energy?ʼ Yuan shook his head inwardly.

A world without natural spiritual energy didnʼt just make cultivation difficult. It also made crafting treasures almost impossible, so most of the weapons in this world were ordinary weapons without any special capabilities.

After a dozen items were sold, it was finally time for the gold coin to be auctioned.

”Before we begin selling the last item for the day, I would like to thank everyone here for their participation and appearance,” said Chen Cheng as another worker pushed a cart onto the stage.

Atop the cart rested a single gold coin, displayed upon a luxurious cloth and treated as though it were a priceless treasure.

”And now, the main item of todayʼs auction—a gold coin untouched by time! Not only is it perfectly pristine, but it bears not a single mark of damage!” Chen Cheng proclaimed as he gestured at the cart.

”Oooh! It really is a pristine gold coin!” many guests exclaimed, leaning forward in their seats to catch a clearer glimpse.

Naturally, the auction house had cleaned up the gold coin before the auction, but even if they hadnʼt done such a thing, the coin was like new.

After a brief pause, Chen Chengʼs voice rang out once more, ”We will now begin the auction for this gold coin! The starting bid—five hundred thousand small Chaos Coins!
