Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 352: She’s So Brave Everyone already thought the Flametail Knight was dead.

”Strange, do you feel like Little Sona’s aura has changed??”

In the audience, some sharp-eyed spectators seemed to notice something amiss and asked their companions in confusion.

”A little... I feel like it’s similar to her aura during the Spring Major.”

Just as some spectators were discussing this.

Suddenly.

Floating in mid-air, the Psionic Knight, with his dazed expression and empty eyes, suddenly froze. This reaction came from his body’s instincts.

Because he felt that the prey before him seemed to have hardened.

Before, this prey was so weak it could be crushed with a light squeeze, but now, no matter how hard he tried, it felt like squeezing metal.

”Be still.”

Lucas Reeve murmured softly. With the release of his terrifying Spiritual Power, what was invisible to outsiders felt like a bursting dam to the Psionic Knight. Decades of accumulated river water rushed down all at once, and compared to it, his own mental energy was pitifully weak.

Lucas Reeve’s voice wasn’t loud.

But to the Psionic Knight’s mind, it was like a great bell tolling in his head.

The Psionic Knight’s abilities were similar to Rosmontis’s, though far less refined. The principle was almost identical: using terrifying mental energy as a medium to give it substance. Lucas Reeve, however, directly collided with him using his own god-level mental energy.

It was like a Landship hitting an ant—a complete, irresistible crush.

Under the scouring of Lucas Reeve’s Spiritual Power.

The six giant psychic hands released by the Psionic Knight also became extremely unstable, looking as if they might disappear at any second.

Losing the support of the psychic hands, Lucas Reeve landed easily and gracefully on the ground. The Psionic Knight, in contrast, was in a wretched state. The moment he hit the ground, he clutched his head and knelt in agony. The way he looked at Lucas Reeve changed completely. Although he had lost his emotions and consciousness, fear is the most basic instinct of all living things. Even without a mind, the terror of a higher-order being was carved into his very being.

At this moment.

In the Psionic Knight’s eyes, behind Sona’s small body, stood a giant, golden figure. This figure was like a king looking down on the world. Before It, he was like a tiny lizard facing a massive Tyrannosaurus Rex. There was no way to resist at all.

”Huh? Strange, why did the Psionic Knight suddenly fall to the ground?”

The surrounding audience was getting confused. After all, the situation just now had been crystal clear: the Psionic Knight could have easily crushed the Flametail Knight. But then came this dramatic reversal.

”It’s not match-fixing for show, is it?”

”Probably not. I heard the company behind the Flametail Knight is Raythean Industries, not one of our Kazimierz companies. They wouldn’t fix a match just to let her win.”

The audience buzzed with different opinions.

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Commerce fell into a strange, awkward silence.

The conference room door opened, and Czarny walked in pushing a cart with several bottles of aged red wine and glasses. The moment he entered, the silent atmosphere gave him a sense of déjà vu, straight back to eight months ago. A repeat performance, was it?

Czarny was savvy enough not to serve the wine. He just retreated back into the shadows, making himself invisible.

Director Barton shot a strange look at the Chairman of Shaw-Ranke.

”What’s going on? Why isn’t he finishing the last blow??”

Director Barton’s face was ashen.

This feeling... it was like the enemy team was wiped, four of your own were dead, leaving just one survivor. The enemy’s crystal was down to its last sliver of health, one basic attack (A) would win it, but your team’s sole survivor just *wouldn’t* hit the crystal, preferring to torture their teammates.

The Chairman of Shaw-Ranke Biotechnology was already sweating profusely.

”Director Barton, I’ll go ask right now.”

With that, he quickly pulled out a phone to call the person responsible for controlling the Psionic Knight.

And on the field.

Seeing Lucas Reeve get closer and closer, the Psionic Knight was like a mouse seeing fire, desperately trying to flee for his life.

Suddenly.

An irresistible command seemed to take over.

The Psionic Knight’s terrified expression gradually turned savage.

”Quiet. Sleep!”

Lucas Reeve’s formidable Spiritual Power was released again. This time, his mental energy formed a sharp sword that easily pierced the Psionic Knight’s weak mental defenses. The next second, the Psionic Knight’s vision went white, and he instantly lost consciousness, swaying before collapsing to the ground, out cold.

The entire stadium fell silent again.

Ah... this...

A long time passed, but still, no one cheered. Even the host was stunned, unsure how to announce the match’s result.

It’s... over??

This ridiculously??

Even a fixed match wouldn’t dare to be this blatant!

”Uh... let’s count down from ten. If the Psionic Knight still can’t get up, he will lose this match.”

The host was also baffled.

He had hosted so many Knight Majors, but this was the first time he’d seen such a ridiculous ending. One thing the host was sure of: this definitely wasn’t a fixed match. After all, this outcome looked faker than a fixed match.

Ten seconds passed.

The Psionic Knight remained motionless. The staff below were so anxious they nearly had high blood pressure, because this time, no matter what method they used to stimulate the Psionic Knight, he was like a dead man. He wouldn’t wake up, no matter what they did.

”The match is decided!! Let us congratulate the winner of this quarter-final match, the Flametail Knight!”

”The Flametail Knight becomes the eighth contestant in history to enter the semi-finals as a newcomer in her first Knight Major. The last contestant to achieve this was three years ago—the Radiant Knight!!”

The host was trying desperately to hype up the atmosphere.

However, the whole process was too absurd and abstract. The entire audience had no idea how to react; they could only stare blankly at the field below.

Unlike the expected departure of both contestants to start the next match...

After the victory was announced, Sona didn’t leave gracefully as she had in the previous matches. Instead, she walked straight toward the motionless Psionic Knight lying on the ground.

This action confused many spectators, who began to discuss it among themselves.

”What does the Flametail Knight want? She’s not going to finish him off, is she?”

”I remember the Flametail Knight isn’t bloodthirsty. In most of her previous matches, her opponents were heavily injured, but none of them died. She wouldn’t go for the killing blow, would she?”

The audience was confused about what the Flametail Knight intended to do.

Lucas Reeve walked to the center of the arena and snatched the microphone from the host, who had just run up on stage to announce the next match. This was an action almost never seen in the history of the Knight Major. This move by Lucas Reeve stunned not only the host but also the audience, and even the people from the Chamber of Commerce. They all wanted to see what the Flametail Knight was planning.

”Everyone, I was actually thinking about a problem during the match.”

Lucas Reeve’s voice echoed throughout the huge stadium.

”Once, in Columbia, there was a company called Loken Water Tank. I suspect most of you in the audience haven’t heard of it, but you can search for it online. Loken Water Tank claimed to be a biotechnology company, but in reality, it was constantly conducting all kinds of inhumane human experiments.”

Holy shit!!

The audience was immediately interested. Tens of thousands of people went silent, waiting for Lucas Reeve to continue.

But the people from the Chamber of Commerce were panicking.

”What is that little squirrel trying to do!!!”

One of the directors stood up abruptly, his face red with anger.

”Why does she know about Loken Water Tank!! Loken Water Tank disappeared two years ago because of an ’accident’.”

”It’s Raythean Industries!! Raythean Industries did this deliberately! I remember Loken Water Tank was taken down by Raythean Industries. They know the most about this kind of test subject!!”

All the directors’ faces grew darker.

Human experimentation.

On Terra, in any nation, human experimentation is the greatest taboo. Even in a country like Columbia, human experiments can only be done in secret, never out in the open.

This is bad!!

The directors of the Chamber of Commerce realized a serious problem.

If Raythean Industries chose to let the Flametail Knight be their spokesperson at this time, it meant Raythean was preparing to make a move. They planned to use this huge leverage against the Chamber of Commerce to give them a huge slap in the face. If that really happened, the subsequent chain reaction would be severe.

After Raythean Industries delivered their slap, the Supervisory Commission definitely wouldn’t hold back either.

In the past, even if Raythean Industries tried to cause trouble, the Chamber of Commerce wouldn’t panic. After all, it was just words without proof. But now, the test subject was lying right there on the arena floor...

Isn’t this solid evidence?

”You might find it hard to imagine, but in this peaceful modern age, there can still be a day when corpses pile up like mountains. And every single one of them is the corpse of a child...”

Lucas Reeve said a lot.

At first, he felt nothing toward the Chamber of Commerce, just that they were assholes. But now, the moment the Psionic Knight appeared, Lucas Reeve felt that the Chamber of Commerce was rotten to the core.

The more detail Lucas Reeve went into, the more anxious the Chamber of Commerce directors became. Moreover, this was a live national broadcast. Basically, all the common people were watching. And the audience all had the expression of ”eating melons” (watching drama). They felt the Flametail Knight was about to drop a massive, shocking bombshell.

”The various characteristics displayed by the Psionic Knight are identical to the test subjects from Loken Water Tank—empty eyes, dazed expression. I strongly suspect that people in the Chamber of Commerce are conducting heinous human experiments.”

Following Lucas Reeve’s shocking exposé.

The entire stadium, including the audience watching the live stream, absolutely exploded. It was as if a pot had boiled over; everyone was discussing it nonstop.

”Holy crap, the Flametail Knight is so brave. She dares to say anything.”

”Is it real or fake?”

Many of them chose to believe the Flametail Knight’s words.

After all, if she were lying, it wouldn’t be worth it for the Flametail Knight to stand up like this. She would definitely face terrifying retaliation from the Chamber of Commerce later. Why would she joke about her own future? There was only one possibility: this was true.

If it’s true...

*Hiss*...

Many people didn’t dare to think about it further.

And now, the directors of the Chamber of Commerce completely lost it.

The Chamber of Commerce had no other choice. If he was really sent to a hospital for an examination, they would definitely find something. And if they tried to snatch him back, it would only prove their connection. That left only one option.

Director Barton gave the Chairman of Shaw-Ranke a cold look. He could already predict that with Raythean Industries’ media propaganda, the direction of public opinion would definitely point straight at the Chamber of Commerce. In that case...

That one look gave the chairman a very bad feeling.

”Director Barton...”

”I’m very sorry, Mr. Shaw-Ranke, but the Chamber of Commerce needs you to make a sacrifice. Why... did *you* conduct inhumane human experiments?”
