Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 279: My Wish Is... To Meet the Person I Like Honestly, Lucas Reeve himself didn’t understand why his soul was scattered everywhere like pellets from a shotgun.

He even seriously suspected that his former self might have been forced to self-destruct in the sky. The soul fragments from the explosion, like an erupting volcano, scattered like flowers tossed by a heavenly maiden, landing in every corner of Terra, attaching themselves to various objects. However, as time passed, the vast majority of these soul fragments perished. Other soul fragments, however, instinctively changed what they were attached to, evolving into the current, baffling situation.

”Ahhhhh!!”

Sora screamed, her voice sharp, rivaling that of a horror movie protagonist. Lucas Reeve, who didn’t know what he had become, was startled by this sudden scream and couldn’t help but scream as well. This led to the current situation of them screaming at each other.

Fortunately, Sora didn’t have any neighbors. Her only former neighbor, Lin Qingyan, had long since returned to Yan. Plus, this apartment was located in the center of Lungmen and had excellent soundproofing. So, no matter how Sora screamed, any ’neighbors’ who were even slightly far away wouldn’t hear it. Even if they could, they’d at most assume a young couple was playing ’games’ late at night instead of sleeping.

Sora quickly turned on the bedside lamp and grabbed a nearby teacup, ready to throw it.

After the light came on.

Sora was stunned to find...

That the teddy bear on her bed... was actually moving on its own. It even blinked its eyes with a surprising amount of spirit.

”????”

Although... five minutes ago, Sora had indeed complained that it would be nice if this doll could come to life and talk to her, but... when this dream actually came true five minutes later, all Sora felt was terror.

This was a classic case of ’Lord Ye’s love for dragons.’

Eh? Isn’t this Sora?

It took a while for Lucas Reeve to recover. He looked at the young woman in front of him, clad in a thin nightdress. Because the situation had been so tense, Sora hadn’t had time to worry about her image. Her untied hair was messily splayed across her cheeks. She wore no makeup, a completely bare face, but her pure and adorable features and large, watery eyes were enough to instantly defeat 90% of celebrities.

Because her nightgown was loose.

As Sora stood there, one side of the collar had already slipped below her shoulder, revealing her snow-white shoulder and perfect collarbone, her long, slender legs, and her tense posture.

Yoho, an acquaintance.

Lucas Reeve, on the other hand, looked at his own situation.

He looked down, puzzled, at his current body.

Fluffy, not too big, with fluffy, soft arms.

”Hmm?”

This appearance?

A doll?

Hiss...

How were the things his soul attached to recently getting more and more ridiculous.

First Laevatain, then Skadi, then an Originium Slug, and now a doll. Thinking about it, it was much more reliable back when he was in necklaces or bracelets. The ’version’ had updated, and it was getting absurd.

And.

Lucas Reeve suddenly thought of a problem.

Why could he move?

Even if his soul was attached to this teddy bear, the inside of this kind of doll was completely filled with cotton. Theoretically, it was impossible to move like a physical body, with muscles contracting to drive movement. And why could he see? Did teddy bears have eyes?

Lucas Reeve quickly observed this body and suddenly discovered some problems.

This body... didn’t seem to be just a doll. Although it was filled with cotton, there were energy threads, invisible to ordinary people, woven within the teddy bear’s body. These energy threads had existed for an unknown amount of time, but under their modification, the teddy bear had gradually gained its current form, slowly changing from a doll into a true living being.

The principle was similar to Shamare’s Little Moti, except that if Lucas Reeve hadn’t come over, this doll, which merely contained power, would have just been a doll. It was more like a special kind of staff; an ordinary person could use Originium energy to activate the power within the staff.

And this power that was gradually changing a doll’s body was something Lucas Reeve didn’t recognize either. He could only say that the world was vast, but why did he always encounter such strange things.

Wait.

Magallan isn’t in Lungmen, is she??

He’d have to make a call and ask soon.

Magallan truly was a figure of causality. Even he, with his Causality Vision, had to admire her causal influence.

While Lucas Reeve was thinking, Sora had already gone to the kitchen and brought back a cutting board and a kitchen knife, looking fully armed. It was actually somewhat cute.

”You... You!! Who are you!!”

Sora hid far away, looking at Lucas Reeve. To be honest, Sora was quite brave. Anyone else encountering such a paranormal situation would have been scared stiff and fled immediately. But Sora was still in the room, questioning it. It seemed that after staying with Penguin Logistics and seeing so many strange events in Siesta, Sora’s mental fortitude had improved considerably.

”Uh... I don’t really know either. I just woke up like this.”

Lucas Reeve didn’t say who he was, just told a simple lie.

Sora could be considered someone who had seen the world in Siesta.

After all.

’Beach ’Kill’ Volleyball,’ ’Lethal ’Melon-Split’,’ ’Seaborn Coming Ashore,’ ’two-kick,’ ’pandemonium of gods,’ ’tentacle monster,’ ’Flame Twilight,’ ’volcano vanishing act.’

After experiencing so many events that an ordinary person wouldn’t encounter in a lifetime, or even several lifetimes, it would be strange if her mental state hadn’t improved.

And precisely because she had seen so many unbelievable things, Sora’s mindset gradually stabilized.

So what if a teddy bear started moving on its own?

Big deal.

Besides... she herself had wished for Bailey to move. Did this count as her wish being granted?

Bailey was given to her by Jessica.

And Jessica was surrounded by so many incredible people. This meant that the strange things Jessica experienced in her daily life, things ordinary people couldn’t comprehend, had become her new normal. And Jessica definitely couldn’t have been unaware of Bailey’s situation. After all, even if Jessica couldn’t tell, the people around her, Miss Nian, Miss Dusk, Miss Nine-Colored Deer, could definitely tell.

So, it was very

likely Jessica knew Bailey was actually alive and could move.

And the reason Jessica gave her to her was perhaps...

To give her a companion??

The more Sora thought about it, the more likely it seemed.

After all, how could Jessica, a top-tier heiress, possibly harm her? It must have been for some kind of protection, or maybe she just wanted to give her a surprise, which is why she gave Bailey to her without telling her the truth beforehand, choosing to keep her guessing.

Yes!!

That must be it!

How could a gift from a super-rich young lady like Jessica be just an ordinary teddy bear? There had to be something more to it.

Sora felt like she understood!

As for the Lucas Reeve opposite her, seeing Sora’s expression gradually shift from initial panic, to nervousness, and now to relaxation, he only grew more puzzled.

Did this girl... misunderstand something?

Sora moved a little closer, wanting to get a better look at Lucas Reeve.

It had to be said.

Now that it was alive, Bailey, with its little black eyes blinking, was actually quite cute. Coupled with its short arms and legs, it stood on the bed, wobbling slightly.

Awww!

Her girlish heart was exploding!!

In reality, 90% of people in this world weren’t afraid of supernatural phenomena; they were afraid of ugly appearances. For example, if every zombie in a Columbian zombie movie was a fair-skinned, beautiful, mature woman or a cute lolita, it would probably only take an instant for the situation to reverse from zombies hunting humans to humans hunting zombies, with the zombies fleeing in panic.

Take, for example, a movie from Higashi... Sadako crawling out of the TV.

If Sadako was cute, beautiful, and had a hot body, I reckon... probably no one would be afraid.

Some might even, in the instant Sadako crawled out, pull the TV’s power cord, ensuring she couldn’t go back, then reveal a sleazy smile, announce their family name was Ning! and immediately make his move.

If the one standing on the bed was an ugly demon, Sora would have probably fled immediately. But it was a cute teddy bear... This... it didn’t look like it had much attack power at all.

”Bailey, were you able to move all along? Or....”

Sora cautiously walked over, reached out a finger, and poked Lucas Reeve on the head.

”Uh... no. I just gained consciousness.”

Is that so...

Phew...

Sora let out a heavy sigh of relief.

If Bailey had been conscious all along, then thinking about it would be really embarrassing. After all, she lived alone in her own home, and there were bound to be some unladylike things.

For example...

Despite being a sweet idol, she unexpectedly liked heavy metal music and rap.

Or, since no one was home anyway, she often walked around the living room wearing only panties after a shower.

Or lying on the bed in a very unladylike manner.

After all...

Sora was human too.

Being an idol was a job. She needed to present her most perfect persona to her fans. But anyone who is human is bound to have some embarrassing little habits. Sometimes Sora would complain about not having a boyfriend and ramble on and on to Bailey, or about how annoying someone at the company was, and then curse them ten thousand times in front of Bailey.

If Bailey had seen all of that, Sora would probably die of social embarrassment on the spot.

Looks like she’d have to be more careful in the future.

”Miss Sora.”

Lucas Reeve suddenly said.

”Hmm?”

”Do you have any wishes? I can help you fulfill a few wishes. This is my destiny.”

Since Lucas Reeve has many soul fragments now, he naturally couldn’t stay here forever like when he first woke up from Jessica’s necklace.

But, since it was an acquaintance, and he was already here, he definitely had to harvest the Prayer Power before leaving. Although one person could only provide five thousand at most, every little bit adds up.

”Wishes?”

Sora looked at Lucas Reeve, puzzled.

”You can grant wishes? Bailey?”

Lucas Reeve nodded. ”I don’t remember my origins. I only vaguely remember that I need to help people fulfill their wishes in order to one day obtain a real body.”

Eh?

This line.

Lucas Reeve felt a wave of nostalgia. It had been a long time since he’d said that. Who was the last person he said this to? Zumama?

”A real body?”

Sora pressed: ”Bailey, isn’t this your body?”

”How could it be... Who uses a toy bear as a body.”

”Oh~”

Sora looked a little dejected, then said.

”Bailey, you’re so pitiful...”

”So, Miss Sora, do you have any wishes? Feel free to say them. As long as they’re reasonable, I will help you fulfill them. And, don’t feel embarrassed. Fulfilling people’s wishes is my job. Just stating your wish is, in a way, helping me too.”

Sora thought for a moment: ”Um... I can’t really think of any wishes right now...”

”Uh... can you let me meet that boy I like again??”

Lucas Reeve: ”???”

”Sora, you have a boy you like?”

Sora nodded, somewhat shyly.

”Honestly, it’s a bit embarrassing.”

”Uh... actually, I’ve told you about it before, but you probably weren’t awake back then, so you don’t know.”

”Um... I... I have a very good friend named Jessica...”

”We truly got to know each other over a year ago. Jessica knew me before, she was my fan, but I didn’t know her. A year ago, I needed to hold a concert, and Jessica, Sister Franka, and the others acted as my bodyguards. And then... Jessica saved me...”

”At that time, Jessica’s aura was so cool... so deep. It made my heart pound.”

”But... I found out later that Jessica’s aura at the time didn’t seem to be her own. It was someone else, temporarily occupying her body. A person named Lucas Reeve.”

”Earlier, in Siesta, I met Mr. Lucas Reeve’s real body. But I could only watch Mr. Lucas Reeve from afar... Although I really wanted to go up and talk to him... I... I didn’t dare. I really want to go up and express my gratitude, to thank him for saving me back in Lungmen... but... uh...”

The more she spoke, the redder her face became.

And Lucas Reeve, who was right opposite, froze.

Well, this is...

Damn!!

Good thing I didn’t use my real name.

As expected, you need an alt account when you’re out and about.
