Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1109: Intruders [1] (Edited!!!!)

If Michael had never seen the treasure, he wouldnʼt have cared. That was normal. After all, how could someone desire something they didnʼt even know existed?

Unfortunately, Michael had already seen it. Now that he had, simply turning around and pretending the tower didnʼt exist was almost impossible.

Even if he left this place, the image of the tower would remain somewhere in the back of his mind.

Michael couldnʼt help but find the current situation somewhat amusing. Before entering the Origin Battlefield, he had wanted absolutely nothing to do with this place.

His reluctance and dislike to this unfamiliar realm was mostly thanks to his cousin. But now, after spending close to three days here, Michael had to admit that he didnʼt need to be forced to come back. He would return willingly.

Perhaps it was the same for most awakeners who experienced this place.

The Origin Battlefield was obviously dangerous. One mistake could easily lead to disaster. However, danger wasnʼt the only thing present here. There were also extraordinary opportunities.

The Origin Battlefield was currently a place where an awakener at his stage could experience rapid growth. Perhaps this would change in the future, but for now it was undoubtedly one of the greatest lands of opportunity for awakeners at his level.

In a strange way, it even coincided with Michaelʼs original intention of traveling through the void. Why had he wanted to explore it in the first place?

Even if all its resources were eventually consumed, just the occasional treasure descent alone was worth returning for. The Incense of Enlightenment was already the perfect example.

Now, another mysterious treasure was sitting directly in front of him.

For all Michael knew, it might have nothing to do with Law comprehension or his advancement to Rank Four. But did that really matter?

The fact that four Epic Grade Level 100 monsters and close to a thousand other Rank Four creatures were guarding it already said enough.

Whatever was inside that tower, or whatever the tower itself was, it was special. And Michael wanted it.

”…This is a huge problem. If only it could be carried away. Iʼm confident in my speed, but this seems rooted to the ground. And what if I canʼt even store it? This is so troublesome…”

Michael carefully observed the four Epic Grade wolves. The three-headed wolf remained lying near the eastern side of the tower.

The enormous armored wolf guarded the west, while the winged wolf and the silver-furred wolf occupied the remaining directions.

Michael continued observing them from a distance, his mind rapidly considering several possibilities.

Could he lure them away?

Even if he managed to draw one or two away from the tower, the remaining creatures would still be a problem. There were also nearly a thousand other monsters surrounding the area.

Could he summon his undead and force his way through?

Though it was a bit reckless and there was a high chance of multiple casualties, dealing with the four using all his cards should be more than doable. However, the main thing causing his hesitation was the value of the treasure.

It was obviously extremely valuable, but it would be deeply painful if he lost one of his primary undead by over something he that might just end up not being worth such a loss.

Just as he was wondering whether to temporarily retreat and return with a better plan, something unexpected happened.

The largest wolf suddenly raised its head. Its dark silver eyes slowly swept across the surroundings. Then it spoke in a strange language, one completely unfamiliar to Michael.

Fortunately, thanks to his status as an awakener and the built-in translation that came with it, the meaning naturally appeared within his mind.

”If the one hiding is done hiding, come out.”

”…”

Michaelʼs heart sank. For a brief moment his body trembled before he managed to control himself and remained still.

”…They found me?”

How? Michael couldnʼt understand. The four creatures were indeed Epic Grade. Their senses were undoubtedly far superior to those of their ordinary peers.

However, Michael had confidence in his stealth. It was already a powerful ability by itself, and with the passive blessing of his class, all of Michaelʼs abilities associated with darkness and death became even more potent.

Michaelʼs eyes narrowed slightly.

”…Is it bluffing?”

It was possible. Perhaps the creature had merely sensed something unusual and suspected an intruder was nearby without knowing Michaelʼs exact position. If that was the case, moving now would only confirm his presence.

Michael remained silent.

Several seconds passed.

The enormous wolf remained still. Its expression was difficult to read since it had a monsterʼs face, and Michael didnʼt dare hold his gaze on it for too long. But he could almost feel its patience gradually disappearing.

The largest wolf spoke again.

”I will not repeat myself after this.”

The dark mist surrounding its body suddenly became denser.

”Come out.”

Michaelʼs expression grew grim. This time the wolf began slowly moving its body.

”…Damn.”

But Michael still didnʼt move. His muscles were tensed. Mana silently circulated throughout his body while his spatial abilities prepared to activate at the slightest sign of danger.

He was ready to run. There was no shame in retreating. He could always return later.

Michael was just about to move when he felt a disturbance in another location.

”…Hm?”

Michael stopped.

Several meters away from him, the void suddenly rippled. The surrounding space twisted violently before four figures stepped out of nowhere. Michael stared in silent shock.

”Even with Wisdom State active, how did I sense nothing?”

It was obvious the newcomers were not simple. But discovering that the wolf hadnʼt been addressing him gave Michael an indescribable sense of relief.

The four figures that emerged from the void were all humanoid, though most appeared non human.

The first was nearly three meters tall. His skin resembled cracked stone, with faint golden light leaking from the gaps across his muscular body. A massive black hammer rested against his shoulder.
