Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 880: Another Surprise

For most of his peers, such a mission would destroy their future.

Even if they succeeded, it would take years.

And the final reward rating would likely be ordinary.

Michael understood all of this instantly.

But instead of discouragement, a strange smile appeared on his face.

Because something else was happening.

Right in front of him the number changed.

Automatically.

[Advancement Quest: Have 100 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 101/100]

The panel froze.

Then the familiar message appeared.

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[You have exceeded the limit.]

[Creating a one time Limit Break quest based on the conditions met.]

Michael’s smile widened slightly.

”Here we go again.”

Another panel appeared.

[Advancement Quest: Have 200 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 201/200]

Michael did not even need to move.

The number already exceeded the requirement.

The panel trembled slightly.

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[You have exceeded the limit.]

[Creating a one time Limit Break quest based on the conditions met.]

Another update followed immediately.

[Advancement Quest: Have 300 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 301/300]

Michael leaned back slightly while sitting cross legged among thousands of silent undead.

A quiet laugh escaped him.

”So that’s how you want to play.”

The Origin Will had tried to stop him.

But it had underestimated one thing.

Michael had not prepared five Rank Three undead.

Or twenty.

He had prepared thousands.

The moment the system attempted to raise the requirement, it immediately broke again.

Just like before.

Panel after panel continued appearing as the system struggled to adjust.

However Michael’s satisfaction did not last long.

The interface suddenly froze.

Every floating panel stopped moving.

Then a familiar line appeared once again.

[The Origin Will has intervened]

Michael’s smile disappeared instantly.

”You’ve got to be kidding me.”

Another message appeared.

[It is discovered that you are an Outlier]

[Reevaluating your advancement task]

[New task generating...]

Michael cursed again.

”Damn it!”

This time the frustration in his voice was obvious.

Moments earlier he had been amused.

Now unease appeared in his eyes.

Because this time felt different.

Before, the Origin Will had interfered only after he finished.

Now it had intervened twice before completion.

Michael’s fingers slowly tightened against his knee.

He did not like this.

Not at all.

The first time the Origin Will interfered it only increased experience difficulty.

Annoying.

But manageable.

Now it had already intervened twice.

And that meant there was a real possibility it would keep interfering.

At this point, even Michael began to feel that perhaps he had bitten off more than he could chew. However, he could not really be blamed. The rewards one could obtain from breaking the limit of a rank advancement quest were simply too tempting to ignore.

In fact, if it were not for the fact that he always pushed beyond the limits placed before him, he would never have reached where he was today, even with the same talent.

Michael exhaled slowly.

The undead around him remained perfectly still.

A faint tension filled the spatial dimension.

For the first time genuine anxiety appeared in his mind.

Because if the Origin Will continued interfering, the requirement might become absurd.

One thousand Rank Three undead.

Two thousand.

Or something even worse.

Michael clenched his jaw.

”Just show it already.”

The panel flickered again.

New words slowly appeared.

[New Advancement Quest Generated]

[Advancement Quest: Have 500 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 501/500]

Michael stared at the number.

”...Five hundred.”

He sighed softly.

”Isn’t this unfair?”

”How am I any different from other awakeners?”

”What type of discrimination is this?”

Five hundred Rank Three undead.

Even Rank Four necromancers rarely possessed such numbers.

Yet even as that thought crossed Michael’s mind, the panel changed again.

[Advancement Quest: Have 500 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 501/500]

The requirement had already been exceeded.

The notification appeared again.

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[You have exceeded the limit.]

[Creating a one time Limit Break quest based on the conditions met.]

Michael sighed again.

”Of course.”

Another panel appeared.

[Advancement Quest: Have 800 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 512/800]

The increase was no longer small.

Three hundred at once.

Michael watched silently.

The number continued rising.

Soon the panel updated again.

[Advancement Quest: Have 800 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 801/800]

Michael did not react outwardly.

But a quiet tension began building inside him.

The notification appeared again.

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[You have exceeded the limit.]

[Creating a one time Limit Break quest based on the conditions met.]

The panel flickered.

Another requirement appeared.

[Advancement Quest: Have 1100 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 1101/1100]

Michael narrowed his eyes.

”So it increases by three hundred each time.”

The pattern had stabilized.

But the problem remained.

His preparations were simply too large.

The number rose again.

[Advancement Quest: Have 1100 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 1101/1100]

The system froze again.

The familiar message returned.

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[You have exceeded the limit.]

[Creating a one time Limit Break quest based on the conditions met.]

Michael rubbed his forehead.

”This is getting ridiculous.”

Another panel appeared.

[Advancement Quest: Have 1400 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 1401/1400]

Even Michael felt the scale becoming absurd.

Yet the process continued.

The notification appeared again.

Michael stared at the screen.

”Let me guess.”

”Seventeen hundred?”

But the system did not follow the pattern.

The panel froze.

No notification appeared.

Several seconds passed.

Michael frowned.

”What now?”

Then a new message appeared.

Not a quest.

Not a system panel.

Just a single line.

[Origin Will: Why not choose to become a god instead?]

Michael stared at the message.

For a moment he wondered if he had read it wrong.

Then another line appeared.

[Origin Will: With greed like yours, even the Demon King of Greed cannot compare.]

[Since you want the previous rating, just take it.]

[But from now on that will be your new standard, Outlier.]

The words hung silently in the air.
