Madam’s Identities Shocks the Entire City Again

Chapter 553 - She Knew He Was Acting Pitiful

On the other hand, Qiao Nian had just put down her phone and pulled out a chair, preparing to turn on her computer, when Nie Mi called her.

Her eyebrows were restrained as she picked up the call irritably. She had just finished her shower and her voice was low. ”Hello.”

”Nian Nian, are you busy?”

Nie Miʼs voice came through the phone.

Qiao Nian glanced at her computer, which had just been switched on. She placed her hand on her forehead and walked to the side to answer his call. ”No. Whatʼs the matter?”

Nie Mi didnʼt like to beat around the bush. He said bluntly, ”I want to tell you about the concert.”

Qiao Nian wasnʼt interested. However, out of courtesy, she controlled her temper and said, ”Oh, tell me.”

Nie Mi immediately started promoting the grand event that was going to be held in Rao City.

”The level of this concert is very high. Apart from me, the Wen Family has also invited many masters from the music industry domestically and overseas. You can get to know a lot of people. Also, this is a very good opportunity to promote traditional music. With your standards, you will definitely amaze the entire audience. When the time comes…”

Qiao Nian had been listening to him patiently. But when she heard this, she interrupted him in frustration. ”Iʼm not interested.”

She had never liked crowded places, not to mention such places as Nie Mi had mentioned. Therefore, she was even less interested.

She wasnʼt Qiao Chen, who liked to show off in crowded places.

If she could choose, she would rather sleep in her room and play games to relax if she had time, rather than attend the concert.

She didnʼt want to show off in that kind of setting, either.

Nie Mi knew she would say that. Before making the call, he had already thought of a countermeasure. His voice immediately softened. ”You really donʼt want to go?

”This is a rare opportunity. Not many people in the country have a spot. I originally thought that if you wanted to go, I would go with you.”

Qiao Nian lowered her eyes, not interested. ”I donʼt want to go.”

A direct refusal.

He didnʼt even have a chance to persuade her.

Nie Mi felt stifled. The level of this concert was clearly very good, and many people were not qualified to go even if they wanted to. Why was it the other way around when it was his turn? It was him begging her to go, but she had refused.

He said gloomily in a low voice, ”…Why donʼt you reconsider? This is really a good opportunity. Itʼs fine even if you go. Iʼve asked the person who led the exchange, and she promised me that not many people will attend. Itʼll be considered a private gathering. Sheʼll lead the way and let the Midwestern Music Competition be held. You know, itʼs easy to find students from Western Music. There are many of them. Theyʼre all good seedlings who study the piano and the violin. But itʼs difficult for us with traditional instruments!”

”Didnʼt others learn traditional music?” She had seen many people playing traditional music on the video website.

”There definitely are, but too few people can spar with others at this level. No one will be able to show off when the time comes. I can represent my generation, but I donʼt want others to think that Iʼm the only one who can do it. In a hundred years, the skills behind this instrument will be lost and it will be my fault…”

Hearing his depressed words, Qiao Nian knew that he was pretending to be pitiful, but she still couldnʼt help but rub her forehead and say, ”I might not have the time.”

Nie Mi heard her tone soften, and she didnʼt reject him as firmly as before.
