I, the Villain, Become Invincible the More Descendants I Have

Chapter 76 The Saintess Turns Against Her, Childhood Sweethearts Become FoesAfter the statue of the Tathagata Buddha in the Grand Buddha Hall was smashed, Abbot Xuan Ci and Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi scrambled into the Scripture Library in the backyard, bracing the heavy doors shut, panting like two dying old dogs.

”Master! What do we do now? That devil Emperor Cao Xukun has already broken in!” Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi, his face drenched in sweat, grabbed Abbot Xuan Ci’s arm and shook it incessantly. ”The outside is full of rebelling commoners; we can’t escape!”

”What are you panicking for!” Abbot Xuan Ci wiped the dust from his face, forcing a look of composure. ”We still have one final trump card! Governor Ye Qingyi is guarding the Scripture Library with five hundred Saintess Guards. She is your childhood sweetheart, Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi, and has been devoted to you since childhood. Plus, she possesses Golden Luck. As long as she is willing to act, we may still have a chance to turn the tables!”

”That’s right! How could I have forgotten Governor Ye Qingyi!” Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi’s eyes lit up, and he instantly perked up, his tail practically wagging in the air. ”Governor Ye Qingyi is deeply affectionate toward me; she will certainly help me! Once she kills Emperor Cao Xukun, I will be the master of the Western Desert. When that time comes, I will make her Empress, and we will rule the world together!”

While he was daydreaming, the doors of the Scripture Library creaked open. Governor Ye Qingyi walked in slowly, dressed in a simple white silk dress and holding a long sword. Her skin was fairer than snow, her features were as picturesque as a painting, and she had a cinnabar mole between her brows. Her temperament was as cold and elegant as a plum blossom on a snowy mountain. Behind her followed five hundred Saintess Guards holding long swords, each one looking heroic and spirited.

”Governor Ye Qingyi! You’ve finally come!” Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi rushed forward, saying with a look of deep affection, ”That devil Emperor Cao Xukun has slaughtered his way into Great Leiyin Temple and smashed the Buddha’s golden body. Quickly, help me kill him! As long as you kill him, I will marry you, and you shall be the Empress of the Western Desert!”

Abbot Xuan Ci also chimed in: ”Your Highness the Saintess, you are the hope of our Buddhist sect; only you can save us! As long as you step in and repel Emperor Cao Xukun, I will immediately petition the Buddha to canonize you as the First Bodhisattva of the Buddhist sect!”

Governor Ye Qingyi looked at these two disheveled men, a flash of deep disgust crossing her eyes. Having grown up in Great Leiyin Temple, she had long since seen through the hypocrisy of these monks. Abbot Xuan Ci appeared compassionate on the surface but was actually insatiably greedy; Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi appeared gentle but was actually selfish. They treated her like a chess piece, forcing her to adhere to strict monastic rules and compelling her to marry Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi to consolidate their power.

”Marry me?” Governor Ye Qingyi sneered, her tone icy. ”Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi, why don’t you take a good look at yourself in the mirror? You were beaten by Emperor Cao Xukun and ran back like a stray dog, and you still have the nerve to talk about marrying me?”

”Governor Ye Qingyi, you… why would you say that?” Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi was stunned, the smile on his face freezing. ”We are childhood sweethearts! Haven’t you always liked me?”

”Childhood sweethearts? Don’t flatter yourself.” Governor Ye Qingyi scoffed. ”I must have been blind to ever think you were a good person. It wasn’t until I saw Emperor Cao Xukun single-handedly break the Duer Grand Formation for the sake of the people, exposing your true colors, and saw him return the incense money you embezzled to the commoners so they could live better lives, that I finally understood. Your so-called compassion is nothing but deceptive nonsense, and your so-called Buddhist sect is nothing but a den of thieves that feeds on human blood.”

Just then, a deep, magnetic voice came from outside the door: ”Well said.”

Everyone turned their heads sharply to see Emperor Cao Xukun dressed in a black dragon robe, hands in his pockets, walking in slowly. He hadn’t brought a single soldier, yet his mere presence was enough to make the air in the entire Scripture Library freeze. The five hundred Saintess Guards subconsciously gripped their long swords, but were so intimidated by his aura that they didn’t dare to move.

[Ding! Detected female with Golden Luck: Governor Ye Qingyi] [Identity: Saintess of the Western Desert Buddhist Kingdom, childhood sweetheart of Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi] [Cultivation: Peak of Soul Formation Stage (Can fight against early Void Refinement stage with Golden Luck enhancement)] [Favorability: 30 (Appreciation)] [Special Bonus: Upon submission, gain half of the Buddhist Kingdom’s Luck, and any offspring will possess Golden Luck!]

Emperor Cao Xukun’s eyes lit up; she was truly a rare gem. He leaned against the door frame, looking at Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi with a mocking smile: ”Did you hear that? She doesn’t think much of you at all. Stop being delusional; you are the clown here.”

”Emperor Cao Xukun! You devil!” Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi was trembling with rage, pointing at Governor Ye Qingyi and roaring, ”Governor Ye Qingyi! Don’t be deceived by him! He is a devil, he will kill us! Quickly, join me and kill him!”

”Kill him? Why would I kill him?” Governor Ye Qingyi turned around, pointing her long sword directly at Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi. ”All these years, you have enslaved the commoners, embezzled incense money, and forced countless families into ruin. Emperor Cao Xukun came to save the people of the Western Desert, while you are the true devils!”

”You… how dare you betray the Buddhist sect!” Abbot Xuan Ci was so angry his beard bristled. ”Governor Ye Qingyi! Don’t forget, it was the Buddhist sect that raised you! If you dare to betray the Buddhist sect, the Buddha will surely punish you and condemn you to eternal damnation!”

”Punish her?” Emperor Cao Xukun sneered, stepping forward to shield Governor Ye Qingyi behind him. ”Her fate is decided by me. Never mind the Buddha; even if the Tathagata Buddha himself came, if he dared to touch a single hair on her head, I would still crush him with one punch.”

His tone was calm, yet carried an unquestionable majesty. Governor Ye Qingyi looked up at his tall, sturdy back, her heart skipping a beat. From childhood until now, no one in Great Leiyin Temple had ever protected her like this. She had always been the Saintess who had to adhere to strict monastic rules and could not have her own thoughts, but with Emperor Cao Xukun, she could be herself.

”Abbot Xuan Ci, Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi, your good days are over.” Governor Ye Qingyi took a deep breath and shouted sternly to the Saintess Guards behind her, ”Everyone, listen to my order! Drop your weapons and submit to Great Xuan!”

”As you command, Your Highness the Saintess!” The five hundred Saintess Guards had long since grown tired of the Buddhist sect’s strict rules. Hearing the order, they immediately dropped their long swords in unison and bowed to Emperor Cao Xukun: ”Greetings, Emperor Xuan! We are willing to submit to Great Xuan and pledge our loyalty to Your Majesty!”

”No! Impossible!” Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi completely broke down, collapsing to the ground with a look of disbelief. ”Governor Ye Qingyi! How could you betray me! We are childhood sweethearts! You said you would be with me forever!”

”Those were just things said when we were young and ignorant.” Governor Ye Qingyi said coldly. ”Now I understand. Following you means being trapped in this cage for the rest of my life, acting as a soulless puppet. Only by following Emperor Xuan can I see true light and do something tangible for the people of the Western Desert.”

[Ding! Successfully conquered female with Golden Luck, Governor Ye Qingyi!] [Reward obtained: Half of the Buddhist Kingdom’s Luck! Loyalty of the Saintess Guards!] [Reward obtained: Cultivation skyrocketed! Only one step away from the peak of the Void Refinement stage!] [Favorability: 95 (Adoration)]

The system notification sounded. Emperor Cao Xukun nodded with satisfaction and reached out to take Governor Ye Qingyi’s hand: ”Rest assured, with me here, no one will ever dare to bully you again. Whatever you want to do, I will support you.”

Governor Ye Qingyi’s face flushed instantly, and she lowered her head, not daring to look at him. The warmth from his palm made her heart race.

”It’s over… it’s all over…” Abbot Xuan Ci looked at the scene before him, his face ashen, and he slumped to the ground. His last hope had been shattered; all that awaited him now was the judgment of the people.

Li Tieniu rushed in with his soldiers and, seeing the surrendered Saintess Guards, laughed heartily: ”Emperor Xuan is awesome! You just intercepted Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi’s childhood sweetheart and put a massive green hat on him! Let’s see how that Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi acts all high and mighty now!”

”Standard procedure, don’t make a fuss.” Emperor Cao Xukun waved his hand, his expression calm. ”Pass down the order to capture Abbot Xuan Ci and Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi, lock them outside the main hall, and publicly announce their crimes tomorrow so the people of the Western Desert can judge them personally.”

”As you command!” The soldiers stepped forward and dragged Abbot Xuan Ci and Saintly Monk Jin Chanzi out like dead dogs. The two struggled and cursed, but no one paid them any mind.

Emperor Cao Xukun held Governor Ye Qingyi’s hand and walked out of the Scripture Library. Seeing that the Saintess had submitted to Great Xuan, the commoners outside cheered with joy.

”Her Highness the Saintess is wise!” ”Long live Emperor Xuan!”

Looking at the hopeful faces and then at Emperor Cao Xukun beside her, Governor Ye Qingyi curled her lips into a happy smile. She knew she had made the most correct decision of her life.
