Becoming an Immortal and Ancestor, Starting from the Clan-protecting Divine Beast

9: Chapter 9 Luoyun Mountain, Chen FamilyA mountain several hundred zhang high appeared before the man and the ape. From the mountainside upwards, clouds and mist swirled, and traces of buildings could be vaguely seen, possessing quite the atmosphere of an immortal abode.

”Brother Yuan, that is Luoyun Mountain, and it is where my Chen Family resides!” Chen Fufeng’s tone was somewhat excited. Having been away from home for several months and having experienced life and death, he was finally returning home today.

Yuan Feng nodded. The Luoyun Mountain where the Chen Family resided looked pretty good; it wasn’t the small hill he had imagined.

After seeing Luoyun Mountain, Chen Fufeng walked for a while before reaching the foot of the mountain. There were some Mortals gathered nearby, with wisps of cooking smoke rising and children playing; they were all dependents of the Chen Family.

The ordinary people along the way bowed in greeting upon seeing Chen Fufeng. Portraits of this Chen Family Head were in every household, and everyone knew him.

Chen Fufeng wore a calm expression with an elegant temperament. He occasionally nodded slightly in response, having no intention of stopping, and walked straight past this Mortal settlement, stepping onto the stone-paved stairs.

Continuing upwards, after reaching the mountainside, thick fog filled the air, making things unclear, as if one had arrived in a Realm of immortals.

Yuan Feng had yao power flowing in his eyes, seeing through the reality of the clouds and mist. This should be created by a Formation, which could prevent Mortals from accidentally entering; after wandering around, they would come out on their own, unable to see the real path.

If a Cultivator tried to trespass without permission, it probably wouldn’t be as simple as just clouds and mist; there would be other changes.

”Brother Yuan, this is my Chen Family’s Mountain-Protecting Formation, a First-Grade High Grade Fog Shadow Maze Formation. It belongs to a type of trap Formation, and it can trap a Late Stage Qi Refining Cultivator for a period of time.” Chen Fufeng introduced, feeling slightly proud.

In terms of Opportunity, he had already surpassed the vast majority of Cultivators in the world. He fell off a cliff in his youth and did not die, and he even obtained the Legacy of an ancient Cultivator, possessing substantial wealth.

The Mountain-Protecting Formation used by ordinary Middle Stage Qi Refining small families was at most First-Grade Medium Grade, and for those families, a First-Grade High Grade could only be described as a heavy blow to their foundations.

Among the hundred arts of cultivation, the price of Formations was far more expensive than Talismanic Incantations and Magical Artifacts of the same grade. After all, they were the basic guarantee for establishing a Family or sect, so the price was generally on the high side.

”Old Chen, not bad.” Yuan Feng praised him appropriately.

With a smile, Chen Fufeng walked forward while pinching hand seals. Wherever he passed, the mist dissipated, and a neatly repaired staircase appeared, winding upwards.

As the Formation was unlocked, Yuan Feng’s Divine Thought was already able to probe the situation on the mountain, giving him a general understanding of the current Chen Family.

There were three Qi Refining Cultivators on the mountain, one of whom was a woman with delicate features who seemed to be pregnant and had a cultivation level of the Fourth Layer of Qi Refining.

The remaining two were one at the Second Layer of Qi Refining and one at the First Layer of Qi Refining. Both looked quite old and belonged to the type with no potential.

Besides that, there were three children, all of whom were still young.

This woman and the three children should be Chen Fufeng’s wife and children. As for the other two Cultivators, he was not sure; they might be the rest of the Chen Family’s Cultivators.

”Sure enough, the Chen Family is just a few small cats and kittens, with only four Cultivators, two of whom are basically hopeless for a Breakthrough. Sigh.”

Yuan Feng sighed in his heart. With just these few Cultivators, he didn’t know when his clan destiny points would start skyrocketing.

Immediately, he patted Chen Fufeng on the shoulder and said earnestly: ”Old Chen, do you remember what I told you at Wangyue Cliff?”

”Ah?” Chen Fufeng looked puzzled.

”You need to have more children to be worthy of me.” Yuan Feng’s tone was strange, as if encouraging him, ”The most important thing for a Family is to continue the ancestral line and spread branches and leaves. Old Chen, don’t be shy, give birth to many, give birth to dozens or hundreds of them.”

Chen Fufeng’s smiling face froze, his complexion flushed slightly, and the corners of his mouth twitched. What do you mean by giving birth to dozens or hundreds!

Without waiting for him to speak, Yuan Feng had already chosen a place to stay and said to him: ”Alright Old Chen, I’ll go first. If you have anything, come find me at the Back Mountain Cliff.”

Yuan Feng had been reborn as an ape in this life and had long been prepared to be single for a lifetime, but he couldn’t bear to see Chen Fufeng being lovey-dovey with his wife; he wouldn’t be that third wheel.

After speaking, a black light flashed, and he disappeared from this place, heading straight for the Back Mountain Cliff.

At the Back Mountain Cliff, an old tree was rooted there, looking weather-beaten. The upper part of the trunk bent outwards towards the cliff, and the dark brown trunk was cracked in many places, yet it was living very tenaciously.

A black light flickered, and Yuan Feng’s figure appeared. He released the Size As Desired Divine Ability, and his six-zhang-tall yao body was extremely oppressive, but the aura emanating from him was very weak.

He had been operating his Breath Concealment Art. A First-Grade High Grade Formation could not stop the perception of a Foundation Establishment Great Cultivator. A Great Cultivator at this level could be considered to have truly stepped into the gate of the immortal path; with a sweep of their magic power, cutting rivers and breaking mountains was but a momentary affair.

Stretching his muscles and bones, a sound like thunder rang out on this deserted cliff, drowning out the whistling wind.

Immediately after, Yuan Feng wandered around the perimeter, branding his own aura and marking it as his territory.

As for why he did this? It was just the instinct of a Yao Beast.

After doing all this, Yuan Feng leaped onto the old tree on the edge of the cliff, sat cross-legged, facing the sea of clouds, his chest heaving as he began to breathe and absorb Qi.

On the mountainside, Chen Fufeng opened his mouth to say something, but Yuan Feng was extremely fast, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

”Was I teased by an ape? Or does Brother Yuan really hope I have more children?” Chen Fufeng’s expression was unreadable, and a sense of unspeakable shame seemed to rise in his heart, causing his mind to fluctuate somewhat.

Having a few children was fine, but having dozens? The time for pregnancy alone would take decades, which for a Qi Refining Cultivator was enough to occupy half a lifetime.

Chen Fufeng stayed in place for a long while before recovering. He took a cleaning talisman from his Storage Pouch to clean himself up, then tidied his clothes, confirmed that he looked normal, and then stepped towards his home on the mountain.

As soon as Chen Fufeng arrived on the mountain, before he even reached home, he saw a woman standing outside, sporting a big belly. She was holding a boy of about six years old with her left hand and a little girl of about four years old with her right hand. Beside her stood a nine-year-old boy with a resolute look in his eyes.

This was his wife, Ji Wanqing, from a Qi Refining Family of the Ji Family in Liyang Town. She belonged to a collateral branch of the Ji Family, had average talent, and was not valued.

Later, due to Destiny, they met and accompanied each other, eventually falling in love. Ji Wanqing followed him back to the Chen Family in Liming Town and became the mistress of the Chen Family.

The boy standing beside Ji Wanqing was Chen Fufeng’s eldest son, named Chen Zhuyun. When he was seven, no Spiritual Root was detected, and he had no Aptitude for cultivation.

The boy held in Ji Wanqing’s left hand was his second son, named Chen Zhuxiao, who had not yet been tested for a Spiritual Root.

The remaining little girl was Chen Fufeng’s third daughter, named Chen Zhuqing, who also had not been tested for a Spiritual Root.

On the day the Chen Family was established, Chen Fufeng set the genealogy with the sixteen characters: ”Pursue the Dao to become immortal, longevity is eternal; profound firmament of the universe, ten thousand laws return to one.” This was also his yearning for the immortal path.

Therefore, starting from Chen Fufeng’s children’s generation, they were the ”Zhu” generation, and the next generation would be the ”Xian” generation, and so on.

Ji Wanqing looked at her husband in front of her, and tears involuntarily flowed from the corners of her eyes. When Chen Fufeng entered the Formation, she had sensed Chen Fufeng’s return through the Formation permissions, which was why she brought her children to wait outside the door.

Seeing his wife cry, Chen Fufeng felt a pain in his heart. He almost ran to Ji Wanqing’s side, wiped the tears from her face, hugged her gently, and said softly: ”Wanqing, I’m back.”

Ji Wanqing buried her head in Chen Fufeng’s chest, feeling his heartbeat and his aura; only in this way could she feel at ease.

The three children on the side became the third wheels for the two, looking at each other and watching this scene quietly.

After a long time, the two separated. Chen Fufeng reached out and touched Chen Zhuyun’s head, asking: ”Zhuyun, how has your martial arts training been these past few months?”

Chen Zhuyun had no Aptitude for cultivation, which made Chen Fufeng very heartbroken. In an immortal cultivation Family, having no Aptitude for cultivation meant being eliminated, and in the future, one could only become a marginal person in the Family, even if you were the Family Head’s son.

However, not long after Chen Zhuyun was tested and found to have no Spiritual Root, he saw a Mortal Martial Master practicing martial arts at the foot of the mountain and felt that practicing martial arts was quite good, so he begged Chen Fufeng to let him practice martial arts, which was better than living a plain life.

”Dad, although your son doesn’t have the Aptitude for immortal cultivation, my Aptitude for martial arts is very good. Master Huang says that perhaps before I reach the age of twenty, I will be able to complete the four major refinements of skin, flesh, tendons, and bones, and become a Peak Martial Master, looking forward to the legendary Innate Realm.” Chen Zhuyun held his head high and said loudly.

”Good, good, good. I knew my son, Chen Fufeng’s son, would not be submerged among the masses.” Chen Fufeng said with gratification.

This world was dominated by the immortal path, while Mortal martial arts was a path pioneered by a group of people who had no Aptitude for cultivation but were unwilling to be ordinary, and could be cultivated up to the Innate Realm at the highest.

”Dad, Master Huang says that a martial arts Great Master of the Innate Realm can rival a Qi Refining Cultivator. Maybe I can really achieve it in the future.” Chen Zhuyun looked resolute, his tone clangorous.

Because he had no Spiritual Root, he was precocious and understood many things.

”Of course I believe in my son. Dad is waiting for the day you break through to the martial arts Innate Realm.” Chen Fufeng did not dampen his eldest son’s ambition but encouraged him.

Afterwards, he looked at his second son and third daughter with gentle eyes and asked: ”Did Xiaoxiao and Qing’er finish their lessons properly while I was away?”

As soon as the words fell, Chen Zhuxiao took the lead and said: ”Dad, Xiaoxiao has already finished the lessons on the basic knowledge of immortal cultivation and is currently reading ’One Hundred Solutions to the Immortal Dao’.”

”Not bad. Whether or not you are an Immortal Cultivator, you must possess a broad vision.” As he spoke, Chen Fufeng looked at Chen Zhuqing, who was standing with her head bowed, picked her up, and said in a soft voice: ”What about you, Qing’er? How is your study of the basic knowledge of immortal cultivation?”

Chen Zhuqing lowered her head, picking at her little hands, and said in a low voice: ”I have already learned more than half of it.”

”My good daughter is great, you will surely be a heaven-favored daughter in the future.” Chen Fufeng encouraged his third daughter.

”Second brother, third sister, it’s time to review your lessons.” At this moment, Chen Zhuyun suddenly spoke.

Chen Fufeng put Chen Zhuqing down, understood his eldest son’s meaning, and said to his second son and third daughter: ”You guys go play with your big brother.”

Just like that, Chen Zhuyun took his younger brother and sister away.

”Yun’er...” Chen Fufeng looked at his eldest son’s departing back, his eyes complex.

Ji Wanqing took Chen Fufeng’s arm and said softly: ”Fufeng, believe in Yun’er. He is unwilling to be ordinary and will definitely be able to become an Innate martial artist.”

”This is the Cultivation World.” Chen Fufeng sighed and embraced his wife as they entered the house.

After sitting down, he told Ji Wanqing about his experiences over the past few months, including getting to know Yuan Feng and tricking the other party into becoming the Chen Family’s Spirit Beast.

Currently, Yuan Feng was staying at the Back Mountain Cliff area. With him guarding Luoyun Mountain, even if Chen Fufeng was not on the mountain, he could protect the Chen Family.

Then, he urged Ji Wanqing not to disturb Yuan Feng when she had nothing to do, and the children should not run to the back mountain to play either, so as not to disturb Yuan Feng’s Cultivation.

As for the other two Cultivators of the Chen Family, he would tell them personally.

Ji Wanqing knew the stakes. Yuan Feng first saved her husband’s life, then agreed to become their Family’s Spirit Beast, and on the way back, he even killed a Qi Refining Eighth Layer Cultivator. Whether it was grace or strength, he was worthy of the Chen Family’s awe.

Moreover, this was a life-saving grace, which should naturally be repaid with a gushing spring.

After saying these things, Chen Fufeng took out the gains from this trip and introduced them to Ji Wanqing one by one. The most important one was naturally the Talisman Crafting Inheritance, which took Ji Wanqing by surprise.

”Wanqing, you are not good at fighting. When you have time, you can study this way of Talisman Crafting.” Chen Fufeng said.

Ji Wanqing nodded. Her Spiritual Root was only a little over five inches, and her Aptitude for cultivation was a cut below Chen Fufeng’s. Judging from the current level of resources in the Chen Family, there was basically no hope of reaching the Late Stage Qi Refining in this life.

Therefore, she might as well switch to the practice of the hundred arts of cultivation, which might even increase the income for the Chen Family.

After introducing the gains from the trip, Chen Fufeng smiled mysteriously and took out a jade bottle from his bosom. Opening the cap, there were nine Medicinal Pills inside that shone with a black jade luster, and the fragrance of the pill immediately filled the air.

Ji Wanqing was puzzled and asked: ”Fufeng, what kind of Medicinal Pill is this?”

”This is a First-Grade Medium Grade Spirit Pill, the Spirit Gathering Pill, specially used to assist Middle Stage Qi Refining Cultivators in their Cultivation. I bought it specifically for you, hoping that you can enter the Qi Refining Fifth Layer as soon as possible so that you can better protect our home.” Chen Fufeng explained seriously.

Ji Wanqing pouted, though she felt very sweet inside, and said coquettishly: ”I know my own Aptitude, really, wasting Spirit Stones. You should use them yourself.”

”How can this be a waste? Your Breakthrough in Realm means that the strength of our Chen Family has risen. Besides, your husband is already a Late Stage Qi Refining Cultivator; I don’t lack this little bit.” Chen Fufeng patted his chest and stood tall in front of his wife.

If Yuan Feng were here, he would definitely wish for Ji Wanqing to agree. To him, the Qi Refining Fifth Layer meant five clan destiny points.

In the end, the couple compromised, and Ji Wanqing accepted it, but she had to wait until after giving birth to take it.

She had already been pregnant for more than two months when Chen Fufeng went out on his adventure. Now that several months had passed, her belly was already very obvious.

”Let me see how our child is doing?” Chen Fufeng leaned down, carefully placing his ear on his wife’s belly, feeling the new life growing inside.

Sunlight spilled in from the window, and everything was so beautiful.
