Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

79: Chapter 79 LookingEighteen led the way in front, while Lin Sheng cleared the threats coming from behind Eighteen.

Their cooperation wasn’t very practiced at first, but gradually, as time passed, their movements became increasingly skilled.

However, even though their coordination had become very tacit, the endless stream of insects still made their advance extremely slow.

Not only that, but in the process, because Lin Sheng had to keep tangling with the insects, his opportunities to devour them were pitifully few.

When facing these large-bodied creatures, Lin Sheng’s most effective means of killing was still using evolution points to activate offensive talents.

But under these circumstances, he had almost no time to devour these insects.

Over time, Lin Sheng’s evolution points would dwindle. Even with a stockpile of over 10 billion, he probably couldn’t last more than a few days.

And if Lin Sheng didn’t devour those insect corpses, they would be carried away by the other insects to be recycled and rebuilt.

As this continued, the battle would become very unfavorable for Lin Sheng’s side.

Eighteen clearly realized this as well. Looking down at the blue planet below, it suddenly had an idea.

Many years ago, when Eighteen was still searching all over Earth for Lin Sheng...

At that time, although the insects had already begun their activities in the Solar System, the current catastrophic scenes had not yet appeared.

While searching for Lin Sheng, Eighteen had discovered a peculiar sea area.

Even when the Zerg Swarm had begun to proliferate, that sea area hadn’t shown any abnormalities.

The abnormality here refers to the ’insect proliferation phenomenon.’

However, that sea area had given Eighteen an extremely dangerous feeling back then, and Lin Sheng wasn’t there either, so Eighteen hadn’t entered it.

Thinking of that special sea area, Eighteen planned to go there to seek refuge.

Its stamina was limited. Under such high-pressure combat, its stamina was already mostly depleted.

If things continued like this, the only outcome would be death.

But if they took a gamble on that sea area, there might still be a turning point.

”...”

Eighteen let out a silent low growl at Lin Sheng. Lin Sheng understood instantly; it wanted to break through the encirclement.

Just as Eighteen’s growl stopped, Lin Sheng flashed forward and blocked the path in front of Eighteen.

He signaled Eighteen to hide behind him, then Lin Sheng opened his mouth wide, and a long dragon condensed from deep gray mist was spat out from his mouth.

This long dragon was condensed from the ’Anti-Life Equation,’ consuming one billion of Lin Sheng’s evolution points.

Wherever the long dragon passed, the insects lost their vitality almost instantly.

Since this was space, those lifeless insects still floated in their original spots, which gave Lin Sheng and Eighteen a chance to escape.

The dead insects could block other insects gathering around. Eighteen took this opportunity to grab Lin Sheng and then charged into the insect corpses killed by Lin Sheng’s ’Anti-Life Equation.’

It rampaged all the way through the corpses. Due to the obstruction of the dead bodies, the living insects couldn’t mount an effective interception against Eighteen.

Lin Sheng also occasionally fired a few Nuclear Energy Rays at the insects closing in. Although this didn’t do much damage to them, it could stall their advance for a moment.

In this way, through a breakthrough that seemed long but was actually brief, Lin Sheng and Eighteen finally entered Earth’s atmosphere.

Although Lin Sheng didn’t know why Eighteen wanted to come here, he understood when he saw the sea area below faintly glowing with blue light.

Arriving above the sea where the Blue Spirit God resided, the insects chasing the two of them actually stopped collectively.

Even though the energy here was incredibly abundant, they only lingered on the periphery of the sea area and did not dare to enter rashly.

Seeing this, both Lin Sheng and Eighteen breathed a sigh of relief.

He recalled the previous ’Observation Notes’ and then found some information related to this.

Lin Sheng remembered that the ’Creator’ member had written it like this:

”In order to prevent the test subjects from destroying the Blue Spirit God, or the Blue Spirit God from destroying the test subjects, I’ll simply write a line into the test subjects’ source information: ’Individuals over 100 Standard Length Units (300 meters) are not allowed to enter this sea area.’”

This could be considered a huge help to Lin Sheng. Precisely because the insects had this source information, they would only linger on the periphery and not enter this sea area.

But just because the insects wouldn’t enter doesn’t mean Lin Sheng and the others wouldn’t have trouble.

This sea area was the Blue Spirit God’s territory after all. Without insects, there was still the great deity, the Blue Spirit God, to contend with.

...

Although the Zerg Swarm had retreated, Eighteen did not relax in the slightest.

Not only that, its expression at this moment was even more serious than when facing the Zerg Swarm earlier.

Seeing Eighteen’s facial expression, Lin Sheng understood its meaning.

Looking at the energy source getting closer and closer beneath them, Lin Sheng reached out a claw to comfort Eighteen, signaling it to stay calm, as he had a way.

...

The Blue Spirit God had been a bit irritable lately.

Since some unknown time, fewer and fewer creatures were coming to Its territory.

Although the Blue Spirit God’s improvement mainly came from the energy in the ’deep blue pedestal,’ and these creatures were of no use to It...

As a god with high intelligence, the long passage of time was extremely boring for It.

In these boring times, the Blue Spirit God could only find pleasure by toy with these lower lifeforms.

Now, the lower lifeforms living in the Blue Spirit God’s territory were almost extinct, and the Blue Spirit God guessed that some change had occurred in the outside world.

However, restricted by the suppression of the Great Universe’s underlying logic, the Blue Spirit God could not leave the deep blue pedestal to investigate the situation outside.

But just today, the Blue Spirit God was pleasantly surprised to find that some lower lifeforms, who didn’t know the meaning of death, had intruded into Its territory.

Feeling the aura coming from the sea surface, the Blue Spirit God was very excited right now.

It had endured here for so long, and finally, lower lifeforms that It could toy with had appeared again.

However, the Blue Spirit God was a bit puzzled. Among the few lower lifeforms that appeared this time, one of them gave It a strange feeling.

Why does that lower lifeform feel so familiar to me?

Why does it feel like that lower lifeform is of my kind?

I’ve been a bit busy lately and haven’t had time for a nap at noon, which leads to sleepiness at night. If I force myself to stay up and write, there will be many typos and the quality won’t be good.

The update is a bit late, sorry.

’Standard Units’ in the setting of this book are a set of basic reference units used internally by each civilization.

Due to differences in individual sizes and other circumstances of civilizations, the ’Standard Units’ of most civilizations are different.

For example, things like ’meters’ and ’kilograms’ are the standard units used by humans.

Because it’s unnecessary—it would be tedious for you to read and tedious for me to write—I won’t just pick a random word from the dictionary and use it as a unit for another civilization.
