Global Exploration: Starting from Decrypting Chernobyl

155: Collect information! Weird details!...

Rice was directly kicked a long distance by Wu Tian, and under the shocked gaze of the noodle shop owner, he landed directly beside his pot.

”Young man, you...”

”Heh heh...”

The fatty was stunned.

Then, taking advantage of the situation, he gave the owner a chuckle.

”Boss, don’t panic, I’m just checking if my noodles are ready?”

...

The owner was stunned.

Then he glanced at Wu Tian’s painful face and Zhang Meng’s bewildered expression, and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.

He muttered to himself.

”I really don’t understand you young people from the Dragon Country, why are you so impulsive?”

”Isn’t it just checking if the noodles are cooked?”

”If you just called me, I would have told you!”

”Really...”

...

The corner of the fatty’s mouth twitched slightly.

To save his own face, he had no choice but to continue the lie.

”Heh heh...”

”Boss, don’t misunderstand, isn’t this faster?”

”It won’t delay your work either!”

”Hehe...”

With an awkward smile, the fatty quickly stood up, hurried back to Wu Tian’s side, and said to him resentfully.

”Boss...”

”Just talk, why did you suddenly kick?”

”I...

I just made a great contribution!”

...

Wu Tian was startled by the words.

Then he slowly covered his face.

”Contribution?”

”You call these things contributions?”

”Ah?”

The fatty looked incredulous.

”Isn’t this a contribution?”

”Boss!”

”These are the best exploration equipment, I went through so much trouble and almost sacrificed myself to get these things, you can’t just casually erase these contributions!”

...

Listening to the fatty’s words, Wu Tian felt a pang in his liver.

He waved his hand, telling the latter to stop talking.

Wu Tian calmed down by himself.

...

”Uh...”

Zhang Meng looked at the pained Wu Tian and asked softly.

”What’s wrong, Brother Tian?”

”Are you feeling unwell somewhere?”

”Nothing...”

Wu Tian shook his head insincerely, then after taking a deep breath, he looked up and said seriously to Zhang Meng.

”Little Mengmeng!”

”Just now you said you seemed very interested in this Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital?”

”How about...”

Wu Tian chuckled.

”We go take a look?”

...

Zhang Meng was stunned.

Then, looking at Wu Tian, she was immediately plunged into extreme shock.

”Brother Tian!”

”Have you forgotten what you just said?”

”Didn’t you say you’d never go to Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital in this lifetime?”

”Didn’t you say you hadn’t had enough fun in Kimchi Country?”

”Didn’t you say you still wanted to play for two more weeks?”

”And...”

Zhang Meng asked Wu Tian with an incredulous look.

”Didn’t you say only silly dogs go to Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital?”

”You...”

The corner of Wu Tian’s mouth twitched.

He slowly opened his mouth in front of Zhang Meng and the fatty.

”Woof!”

”Woof woof!”

Zhang Meng: ... Fatty: ... Even the shop owner, who was preparing noodles for the fatty, showed an extremely shocked and bewildered expression towards them.

He muttered to himself.

”Holy crap!”

”These Dragon Country people really know how to have fun!”

”They bark like dogs when they say they will!”

...

...After a long pause, Zhang Meng finally recovered from Wu Tian’s dog barking and looked at him seriously, asking.

”Have you decided?”

”Are we really going to Gonjiam?”

...

”Mm!”

Wu Tian nodded dejectedly.

He glanced at the fatty beside him.

He cursed with a twitching mouth.

”We have to thank this damn fatty, if it weren’t for him, we really could have played for two more weeks!”

”Heh heh...”

Hearing Wu Tian mention him.

The fatty scratched his head awkwardly and gave a silly smile.

”What’s there to thank for!”

”This is all what I, Rice, should do!”

”Boss, don’t worry about it.”

Bang!

Wu Tian couldn’t hold back anymore!

He flew up with another kick, directly sending the fatty in front of the shop owner again.

Plop!

Amidst the shop owner’s bewilderment.

”Heh heh...”

The fatty nimbly got up from the ground.

He gave the shop owner a friendly smile.

He quickly took the Jajangmyeon that the latter was about to serve.

”Don’t panic.”

”I saw your noodles were ready, so I came to get them myself, thank you!”

The shop owner: ... By the time the fatty returned to his seat, Wu Tian had almost composed himself and was discussing some details about Gonjiam with Zhang Meng.

Wu Tian had figured it out.

This matter... actually wasn’t entirely the fatty’s fault!

Perhaps the system had already prepared this move when he landed in Kimchi Country.

It was merely a difference between early and late arrival.

And Zhang Meng didn’t have much of an objection either.

After all, the encounter this afternoon had truly piqued Zhang Meng’s interest.

What kind of secrets did the Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital, which Kimchi Country tried so hard to conceal, hide, and how many unknown things were buried there? This curiosity had begun to prickle in Zhang Meng’s heart!

Unconsciously... through multiple adventures, Zhang Meng seemed to have completely fallen in love with the feeling of exploration!

However... she herself hadn’t even realized it.

Moreover!

From how the fatty inexplicably took so much exploration equipment from someone else’s shop, it was clear that the fatty... also loved this restless exploration!

...”Found it!”

Looking at the fatty who was slurping noodles, Zhang Meng turned the screen of the tablet in her hand towards Wu Tian.

”I found a post here that records some things about Gonjiam.”

”Brother Tian.”

”Take a look.”

”Mm!”

Wu Tian nodded and looked at the glowing tablet.

A webpage appeared on the tablet.

The webpage detailed the place called Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital with text and images.

”Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital was built in 1961 and operated for eighteen years, admitting a large number of psychiatric patients every year, but strangely, none of these patients who entered the Mental Hospital were ever heard to have recovered, nor was any patient heard to have come out after going in.”

”Everyone seemed to remain in this Mental Hospital.”

”This...”

The fatty, who was eating and sweating profusely, was a bit puzzled.

”Isn’t this normal?”

”Mental illness is very difficult to treat, and it’s not a problem if it can’t be cured, right?”

”Moreover...”

The fatty slurped some noodles and said vaguely.

”This Mental Hospital only operated for eighteen years from its establishment to its closure, and it’s entirely possible that no one was cured in such a short period of time.”

”And I also heard.”

The fatty said unhurriedly.

”This Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital was one of the most famous Mental Hospitals at the time, and even the highest representative at the time personally inscribed a congratulatory message.”

”Celebrating the advanced medical standards of this Mental Hospital.”

”This...”

”Admitting so many patients is also understandable, right?”

”Of course!”

Zhang Meng slowly nodded.

”What you said is not wrong.”

”But...”

”Do you know?”

Zhang Meng’s expression slowly became eerie.

”When I say all the psychiatric patients couldn’t get out, I don’t just mean cured, but rather...”

”Eighteen years later, when this Mental Hospital closed down...”

”Not a single patient was released or transferred from this Mental Hospital!”

...

Clang... The garlic clove in the fatty’s hand fell onto the table.

The sweat on his forehead instantly turned cold.

He looked at Zhang Meng, who was sitting opposite him, and asked tremblingly.

”Not a single one came out?”

”Then...”

”Where are they?”

”The Mental Hospital is only so big, where did all those people go?”

”Actually, I don’t know the exact number of people.”

”But according to those who ventured into Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital, there were quite a few people in this hospital.”

”And...”

”When the hospital closed in 1979, a riot occurred throughout the Mental Hospital, and the director himself hanged himself inside!”

”Hiss...”

The fatty gasped.

”This is...”

”Isn’t this just a haunted place?”

”This is too terrifying!”

...

”Not necessarily!”

Just then, Wu Tian shook his head, pointing at a statement on the screen and saying.

”Actually, 1979 is a very subtle time node!”

”In 1979, the then highest representative of Kimchi Country was assassinated, and it was within a week after the highest representative’s death.”

Wu Tian spoke as he tapped on a photo on the screen.

He said to Zhang Meng and the fatty.

”All the psychiatric patients in the photo rioted, causing many casualties!”

”And...”

Wu Tian said in a low voice.

”The Kimchi Country search team did not find any bodies or survivors afterwards!”

”These people...”

”Where did they go?”

After saying these words.

Wu Tian’s finger slowly slid across the screen.

The next black and white photo appeared in the three people’s line of sight.

”And this one!”

”Look!”

Wu Tian pointed to the fatty and Zhang Meng.

”The director in this photo, who is playing ping-pong...”

”Also committed suicide during the riot!”

”And within that month, this Mental Hospital closed down and was sealed off by the military. No one saw what the Mental Hospital looked like during the riot.”

”Of course...”

”Nor did anyone see the secrets hidden in this Mental Hospital!”

...

After listening to Wu Tian’s narration.

Both the fatty and Zhang Meng fell silent.

It turned out that the seemingly simple Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital hid such a huge secret.

While they were lost in thought.

Zhang Meng’s eyes, fixed on the photo, suddenly lit up, and she excitedly pointed at a person in the photo, calling softly to Wu Tian and the fatty.

”Quick!”

”Look at this photo, the people in this photo are a bit off!”

”Off?”

Wu Tian and the fatty were startled.

Then they both looked in the direction Zhang Meng was pointing.

The tablet screen had already been unconsciously scrolled back two pages by Zhang Meng, and a full-staff photo, including the director, appeared in everyone’s sight.

But this photo was not the original.

It was taken by a brave netizen who went to explore.

It was a camera’s perspective, including the photo frame.

And... in this photo, the upper left corner of the photo frame had been shattered, and the broken part exposed to the air was corroded by moisture into a dark patch.

Only the middle and right parts of the photo were clearly visible.

And at this moment… Zhang Meng’s finger was pointing at the director.

”Look!”

Zhang Meng said softly.

”This woman in a black professional suit should be the director, and the others in patient gowns should be the mental patients of this hospital.”

”Moreover, everyone in this photo also fits the characteristics of mental patients.”

”Their mouths are twisted, their eyes are askew, their expressions are bizarre, and all of them fit the condition of mental illness.”

”But!”

Zhang Meng lowered her voice.

She moved her index finger to a man standing close to the director’s right side.

”Look at this person!”

”...”

Wu Tian and Fatty were stunned.

Then they quickly looked towards the man Zhang Meng was pointing at.

Indeed!

Under the observation and comparison of Wu Tian and Fatty, this man... was indeed a bit strange!

”That’s not right!”

Fatty scratched his head and said.

”According to Sister Meng, aren’t all these people mental patients?”

”How come...”

Fatty frowned, examining it with some confusion.

”Doesn’t look like a mental patient, does he?”

”...”

”Yes!”

Fatty nodded.

”This person’s facial expression looks too different from the people next to him; the others all have twisted mouths and askew eyes, only he looks like he has a serious expression.”

”Even...”

”There’s a hint of humility in the expression this person reveals!”

”That’s right!”

Zhang Meng nodded.

”Everyone else is a mental patient, only this person doesn’t look like one, and I don’t know what his identity is.”

Zhang Meng frowned slightly.

”Just looking at his attire, he really does look like a mental patient!”

”Strange!”

”...”

”Hmm?”

Suddenly, just when Fatty and Zhang Meng were both wondering about this person’s identity.

Wu Tian keenly noticed something different about this man.

He then reached out and pointed at the photo.

”Look here!”

Wu Tian said with a frown.

”Oh?”

”Where?”

Zhang Meng and Fatty were stunned, and both looked in the direction Wu Tian was pointing.

”Here!”

Wu Tian pointed at the man’s wrist in the photo and said.

”Look at this man’s wrist.”

”Everyone else has both hands free, either playing with dolls or gesticulating wildly, but this man’s wrist...”

Wu Tian frowned.

”It seems like there’s something metallic binding his wrist!”

”...”

”Oh?”

Zhang Meng immediately became interested.

She squinted her eyes and carefully observed the yellowed black and white photo.

”Hiss...”

After a long while.

Zhang Meng opened her eyes wide and nodded in agreement.

”That’s right!”

”On this man’s wrist...”

”It looks like he’s wearing handcuffs!”

”Handcuffs?”

Fatty was startled.

”Let me see!”

Then... under Fatty’s careful observation, in this faintly yellowed, old photo, beneath the man’s wide patient gown sleeve, there indeed seemed to be a metal handcuff.

”This...”

Fatty’s eyes darted around.

Combining this man’s humble expression with the special nature of this Mental Hospital.

A bold conjecture... appeared in Fatty’s mind.

”Boss, Sister Meng...”

”You guys, do you think there might also be a prison in this Mental Hospital?”

”Prison?”

Zhang Meng and Wu Tian were both stunned, then they exchanged glances.

A strange feeling... arose in everyone’s hearts... While everyone was discussing and exposing some strange and peculiar details of the Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital to the audience in the live stream.

The Fans were boiling over.

They also began to search for various information about the Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital online.

”The Host is right, I am a spiritual exploration enthusiast.”

”The post the Host is looking at was actually posted by a deceased friend of mine, and those photos were all taken by him during his personal investigation!”

”And...”

This person continued to type in the bullet comments.

”This Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital indeed has some strange places.”

”Although I don’t know much.”

”But...”

”My friend called me before he died.”

”On the phone...”

This Fan seemed a bit scared.

His typed bullet comments were intermittent.

”The voice was very low, and I didn’t know what he was saying. I only heard some syllables, like a woman speaking, or a tape recorder playing a channel without human voices.”

”At the time, I thought my friend had dialed the wrong number, so I hung up.”

”But when I learned of his death the next day...”

”I felt a chill down my spine!”

”...”

”Holy crap!”

”Is what the person upstairs said true?”

”The original poster is dead?”

”Yes!”

”Absolutely true!”

”...”

Just as this topic was being discussed.

Another person continued in the bullet comments.

”Actually, quite a few people who went to Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital to explore have died. Besides what the brother above said, I also know a very secret piece of information.”

”Back in 2018, a group of young people also went to Gonjiam to do an exploration live stream.”

”There were only three people in the entire live stream, and I was one of them!”

”At the time, I didn’t see anything; the screen kept flickering, and at critical moments, there was always no signal.”

”Thinking back now, I just went to check the information of these people!”

”Guess what?”

”...”

Everyone was stunned.

They immediately asked the person who posted upstairs eagerly.

”What happened?”

”What exactly happened?”

”Why do you only say half of what you want to say?”

”Do you also only poop halfway?”

”...”

”Ahem...”

Amidst everyone’s calls, this person continued.

”After I checked the disappearance records of Kimchi Country that year, I found out that all these people had disappeared, or rather...”

”They were already dead!”

”Moreover...”

This person continued to post in the bullet comments.

”The most outrageous thing is...”

”I clearly remember that from the beginning of their live stream until the end, including me, there were only three IDs sending bullet comments.”

”But they kept shouting about something, ’The number of viewers has exceeded 100,000!’”

”’It’s over 300,000!’”

”’It’s over 700,000!’”

”’Just 300,000 more, and we’ll get a reward of one million traffic!’”

”Then...”

This person continued.

”The screen went black, and these people went offline, haha...”

”At the time, I thought it was someone’s prank.”

”Now, after hearing the Host’s analysis, I’ve realized.”

”This Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital...”

”Actually has a very high possibility... of being haunted!”

”...”

”Holy crap!”

”That outrageous?”

”Then why didn’t you report it at the time, brother?”

”The person upstairs must be crazy, right?”

”He already said it.”

”At the time, he didn’t notice anything unusual; it was only now that the Host brought it up that he realized it!”

”Uh... alright!”

”...”

”Oh, by the way!”

”Did you guys just hear what my Brother Tian said, that the person sitting next to the director doesn’t seem to be a mental patient?”

”Hmph!”

”Does it matter if he’s a mental patient or not?”

”Everyone’s dead, and that place is haunted!”

”Isn’t that scary?”

”No, it’s not...”

”It’s possible that Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital also imprisoned criminals or something back then!”

”That doesn’t make a difference...”

...Just as the people in the live stream started a new discussion about the Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital, Wu Tian and the other two slowly recovered from their analysis.

”So...”

”The director of Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital committing suicide in ’79, and all the patients rioting, and no one coming out alive, there’s a big secret behind all this?”

Zhang Meng blinked her eyes.

She asked Wu Tian and Fatty.

”Yes!”

Wu Tian nodded.

”There’s definitely something fishy.”

”Haunted...”

”It’s probably true!”

Wu Tian glanced at the two Talents, Tianlus Claw and Yin Eye, lying in his system space, and frowned slightly.

Things... seemed to be getting tricky.

”...”

”Oh, right!”

Zhang Meng looked at the last sentence on the tablet, then looked at Wu Tian and Fatty.

”This post says that if you want to explore Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital, it’s best to do it at night.”

”During the day...”

”There will be guards and security personnel.”

”Now...”

Zhang Meng looked at the darkening night outside.

She asked the two.

”It’s just night now, should we go?”

”...”

After a moment of silence.

Wu Tian slowly nodded.

”Let’s go!”

”Anyway, we’ve already made up our minds to explore this haunted place.”

”It just so happens that it’s already night.”

”Then let’s just do it now rather than putting it off!”

”Fatty!”

Wu Tian called out to Rice beside him.

”Grab the gear, let’s go!”

”Alright!”

”Then let’s go!”

Zhang Meng also smiled slightly and nodded.

Isn’t it just an exploration?

That’s just second nature, easy to handle.

As soon as she finished speaking, Wu Tian and the other two immediately stood up from the small shop with confident strides, walking briskly towards the shop door.

Suddenly!

”Hey!”

”You three, are you going to eat noodles without paying?”

”...”

The three’s confident steps immediately halted.

Fatty gave an awkward chuckle.

He quickly turned around and went to the shop owner, handing him the money for the three bowls of noodles.

Then... the three once again walked with confident strides towards the main road.

They hailed a car.

And sped all the way towards the Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital in Gyeonggi Province!

The night was fading!

In the pitch-black night sky... there seemed to be a ferocious ghostly face... watching everyone!

The temperature... had suddenly dropped at some point while they were on their way to Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital.

Eeriness... slowly spread!
