Global Exploration: Starting from Decrypting Chernobyl

54: Falling down a waterfall! A torn diary!“...” Zhang Meng looked at Wu Tian, who calmly patted the dust off his fist, and her mouth twitched.

“Your method really is…”

“Convenient?”

Wu Tian chuckled, reaching his hand into the pitch-black cave and rummaging around. “I’m Brother Wu, ruthless and a man of few words!”

“I heard there was a mechanism here that couldn’t be opened. One punch and it was done!”

“I heard there was someone here who was quite strong. One punch and it was done!”

“...”

“Brother Wu: There’s nothing one punch can’t solve. If not, then two punches!”

“Hiss…”

“Looking at this punch from the Host, why do I feel a sense of familiarity?”

“Have you forgotten, upstairs?”

“When the Host smashed piranhas in Chernobyl before?”

“Ah, this…”

...Crash!

When Wu Tian’s hand emerged from the cave again, he held a thick stack of documents. These documents included single sheets of paper and entire notebooks.

But without exception!

They all showed a sense of vicissitude, having endured years.

The paper was thin and yellowed, brittle and easily broken.

It was clearly old paper, over twenty years old!

Among them, on top of all the documents, was an old notebook with a dark green cover.

It depicted a peach blossom forest and a winding creek beside it!

“This is…”

“Peach Blossom Garden?!”

Zhang Meng was startled!

Then she carefully took the documents from Wu Tian’s hand and quickly returned to the front hall with them.

Under the dim candlelight of the counter, the two began to read the contents.

“February 16, 1961. Today is the first day after the New Year, which the Dragon Country people call New Year’s Day. We have already set off for Southern Hunan in Dragon Country. According to the employer’s request, we are to search for a place called ‘Peach Blossom Garden’!”

“...”

Looking at the first sentence of the diary, written in Dragon Country characters.

Wu Tian and Zhang Meng exchanged a surprised glance!

“Peach Blossom Garden!”

“Then this diary must have been recorded by the mercenaries when they went to Peach Blossom Garden?”

“It should be!”

Wu Tian nodded with a smile.

“You say…”

“These foreigners are really strange. Who writes a diary if they’re a proper person?”

“And they even use our Dragon Country characters?”

“Yes!”

Zhang Meng also smiled easily.

“Someone who writes a diary, is that considered a proper person?”

“Hehe…”

“Despicable!”

Wu Tian said with a laugh.

“However…”

Zhang Meng’s eyes were filled with excitement.

“We still have to thank this improper, despicable foreigner. Otherwise, if he hadn’t left anything behind, we wouldn’t have anything to read today, would we?”

“That’s true!”

“Quick!”

“Let’s quickly see what’s written in this diary, and if there’s any amazing content!”

Wu Tian rubbed his hands.

“...”

“You’re despicable too!”

Zhang Meng spat at him.

...“February 20, 1961. Today is our fourth day in Dragon Country. I must say, Dragon Country is really backward now. Even a light bulb is a rare commodity, and you have to use a strange ticket to buy meat. It’s really boring.”

“However…”

“It’s different once you reach this place called Zemeng Creek. The mountains are green, the water is clear, and it’s much more beautiful than our Ulan Country!”

“And there’s a lot of meat to eat, which is really good!”

“Tomorrow we’ll be rowing a boat to look for that ‘Peach Blossom Garden.’ I’ll go to bed early tonight. I hope I can kiss that Dragon Country girl from earlier in my dreams!”

“...”

Wu Tian grimaced.

“How uncultured must one be to write a diary like this?”

“What’s there to read?”

“Skip it directly, get to the good stuff!”

“Hmm.”

Zhang Meng also nodded.

Damn it, why are these foreigners so long-winded when writing a diary? It’s like they’ve been mute their whole lives, writing down everything!

Quickly flipping through the first few pages of rambling diary entries.

Wu Tian and Zhang Meng’s eyes instantly narrowed!

“March 20, 1961. As of today, we have been like headless flies in this small Zemeng Creek for a month!”

“It’s really strange. This place looks so small on the map, so why have we been searching here for a month with no results, and even gotten lost?!”

“Wait, I’ll stop writing for now. The leader is calling, there’s a discovery ahead!”

“...”

This diary entry ended here.

And the truly eerie part appeared on the next page!

Which was… the next day!

“March 21, 1961. Yesterday, the leader shouted from a distance that he had found a cave, but when we went over, we found that the leader was already gone, and the cave the leader spoke of was entirely fictitious!”

“The leader is gone, and the deputy leader has taken over as leader.”

“I feel very uncomfortable now…”

The handwriting here was somewhat shaky.

Through the handwriting, Wu Tian and Zhang Meng seemed to truly feel the fear of this mercenary at that time!

“I don’t know what’s wrong with this cursed place. How could the leader, a living person, disappear?”

“We searched for most of the day but couldn’t find the leader, so we had to give up. This morning, we continued to search for ‘Peach Blossom Garden’ in these mountains and rivers. Wait…”

“What is that?!”

“Storm…”

...The diary entry for March 21, 1961, abruptly ended here.

And that last… Storm!

The handwriting was extremely scrawled. If Wu Tian and Zhang Meng hadn’t tried their best to decipher it.

They probably wouldn’t have known what kind ofGhostly Paintings (ghostly scribbles) this foreigner was writing.

“This…”

“Did they encounter a waterfall?”

“...”

Zhang Meng looked at the somewhat blurry, stained handwriting on the yellowed page, and her eyes lit up with a guess.

“It should be!”

Wu Tian nodded.

He continued to deduce.

“They were searching for Peach Blossom Garden by boat and encountered a waterfall…”

“Then they fell down?”

Wu Tian opened his mouth.

Zhang Meng turned to the next page!

“March 22, 1961. I don’t know where this place is. It’s dark and damp, without sunlight. If my Rolex watch wasn’t still working, I wouldn’t even know it’s two o’clock in the afternoon!”

“My teammates are also separated from me. Now there are only three of us here.”

“Huh?”

“What is that?”

“Leader!”

“Is it the leader?”

Zhang Meng was startled. She realized the important part had come and quickly flipped this page to look at the content of the next page.

But surprisingly… “Hmm?”

Zhang Meng was shocked!

“This…”

“Was this torn out by someone?!”

The previous diary entry was March 22, 1961, and the next page jumped directly to March 30, 1961!

All 8 days of diary content in between had disappeared!

“Here!”

Wu Tian frowned and pointed to the crease in the middle of the notebook.

“There are traces of it being torn!”
