System Possession, One Sword Shocks the Gods

275: New Era (Final Episode)Light dispelled the last trace of haze.

Chaos had just opened; the fresh scent of all things awakening replaced the deathly stillness and devilish aura that had permeated the Ancient Path for eons. Broken stars reconsolidated under the new Laws of the Heavenly Dao, rotating slowly and casting a soft, life-filled radiance. The cracked earth healed, new mountains rose, and rivers surged, nourishing the nascent greenery.

The ultimate struggle for the Dao that decided the survival of the Ancient Path had finally concluded.

After the Abyssal Lord ”Void Abyss” had its rules completely suppressed by the Chaos Heavenly Dao and its body forcibly expelled from this redefined Universe, its remaining will and influence became like rootless duckweed, rapidly dissolving under the purification of the new Laws. The Devilish Qi that had spread everywhere lost its source; it was either purified or settled as part of the Ancient Path’s foundation, no longer posing a threat.

Ye Chen’s figure floated quietly at the heart of the Ancient Path, which was also the core of the newborn Heavenly Dao. He no longer exuded a pressing pressure; his aura merged with the entire Ancient Path, gentle and vast, like the Incarnation of this world’s will. He kept his eyes closed, seemingly digesting and consolidating the immense information and authority brought by merging with the Dao, organizing the Law threads of this reborn world.

The first to feel the change was the Emerald Forest Realm.

The ancient tree of life, which had withered under the devilish flames until only a charred trunk remained, met spring in its withered state under the radiance of the Heavenly Dao containing the power of creation. It sprouted tender green buds at a speed visible to the naked eye, and its broken branches regrew, thicker and more vibrant than before! A boundless aura of life nourished the entire Forest Realm; scorched earth turned into fertile fields, and the shattered barrier was replaced by a softer yet tougher film of Chaos light.

The surviving members of the Wood Spirit Clan supported one another as they walked out of their hiding places. Seeing the miraculous scene before them and feeling the familiar yet purer life energy in the air, they all wept with joy. They knelt devoutly toward the center of the Ancient Path, toward that faintly visible figure.

Elder Mu Huan’s face was covered in tears as he murmured, ”The Heavenly Dao is reshaped... all things return to spring... Lord Ye Chen... no, Heavenly Dao Dominator... you did it!”

Qing Lin stood beneath the revitalized ancient tree, looking up at the figure at the core. Her emerald eyes were filled with complex emotions—gratitude, reverence, and a hint of indescribable melancholy. She knew that the Fellow Daoist Ye Chen, who had fought alongside her, who would get angry because she was injured, and who had resolutely told her to ”wait for me here,” had stepped onto a higher level the moment he took on the responsibility of protecting the entire Ancient Path. He was now essentially different from her and the vast majority of living beings in this world.

But there was no jealousy in her heart, only deep blessings and relief. She gently stroked the rough yet life-filled bark of the ancient tree, feeling the Heavenly Dao aura flowing within it—the same source as Ye Chen’s. She whispered, ”This... is also good.”

Meanwhile, all surviving worlds and outposts along the Ancient Path were bathed in this newborn Heavenly Dao radiance.

On the ruins of ”Liufeng Outpost,” the remaining guardians watched as the shattered barrier repaired itself and the dried-up spiritual springs gushed with sweet dew once more, letting out earth-shaking cheers.

Amidst the rubble of the ”Black Iron Fortress,” heavy war drums beat once again. This time, it was no longer a tragic sound of marching to death, but a proclamation filled with hope and Rebirth.

Countless displaced beings who had been barely surviving under the threat of the Abyss walked out of their caves and shelters. Feeling the long-lost peace and warmth, their faces were covered in tears.

A new era officially began upon the ruins of the old world.

Time passed slowly.

Ye Chen finally opened his eyes. His gaze remained clear yet was as deep as the Universe, reflecting the mountains, rivers, and stars of the Ancient Path, as well as the birth and death of all things. He felt the joy and Rebirth in every corner of the Ancient Path and clearly perceived the regrets and heroism left by the lives lost in the disaster.

With a slight thought...

Throughout the Ancient Path, beside the bones of the experts who had died heroically resisting the Abyss, wisps of weak yet resilient remnant souls were summoned by the Heavenly Dao. They took shape and bowed solemnly toward Ye Chen’s direction before turning into specks of light, merging into the new earth and Laws to become heroic spirits guarding this world. Their sacrifice was not forgotten; their will would remain with the Ancient Path.

He saw Qing Lin, he saw Mu Huan, and he saw the hope overflowing on the faces of countless survivors. He also saw the more distant regions that had once been completely swallowed by the Abyss and turned into dead zones; they were still desolate and would require a long time under the nourishment of the Heavenly Dao to slowly recover their vitality.

The road was still very long.

Ye Chen took a step forward, and his figure appeared in the reborn Emerald Forest Realm, beneath the ancient tree of life.

”Lord... Ye Chen.” Qing Lin, Mu Huan, and the others hurried forward, their respectful attitudes carrying a hint of restraint.

Ye Chen looked at them, a gentle smile appearing on his face. That smile dispelled some of the mystery and detachment of the Heavenly Dao from his body, as if he had returned to being the companion who fought alongside them: ”Great Priest Qing Lin, Elder Mu Huan, and everyone else, there is no need for this. The Ancient Path is reborn, and everything is waiting to be rebuilt. In the future, we still need to work together.”

His voice was calm but carried a convincing power. Hearing this, everyone felt a warmth in their hearts, and the gap created by the massive difference in strength and status seemed to dissipate quite a bit.

”Now that the Laws of the Ancient Path are newly established, although the Abyss has retreated, its influence is deep-rooted. The remaining monsters and Chaos in various places still need to be purged, and many worlds need to rebuild their order,” Ye Chen continued. ”Though I have merged with the Dao, the Heavenly Dao is impartial and operates in an orderly fashion. Specific affairs will still rely on all of you and the joint efforts of all beings on the Ancient Path who harbor kindness and long for peace.”

He looked at Qing Lin: ”The Wood Spirit Clan excels in the Laws of life and nature, nourishing all things and rebuilding homes. I will have to rely heavily on the Great Priest.”

He then looked at Mu Huan and the other representatives of the survivors from different worlds: ”The Ancient Path Allied Forces need to be reorganized to patrol all directions, sweep away the remnants, and guard this hard-won peace.”

Everyone accepted the command in unison, their morale high.

After making the arrangements, Ye Chen cast his gaze toward the depths of the endless starry sky.

He could feel that the Ancient Path was just a corner of the vast Universe. Although the Abyssal Lord ”Void Abyss” had been expelled, it had not been completely annihilated; its main body had fled to some unknown part of the Universe. And within the Universe, worlds similar to the Ancient Path and threats similar to the Abyss likely still existed in abundance.

His Dao was Chaos, inclusion, and evolution. Protecting the Ancient Path was his responsibility, but it was by no means the end of his path of the Dao.

”Once the matters here are settled, I will need to leave for a while,” Ye Chen said to Qing Lin and the others. ”To go to a broader world, pursue a higher Dao, and... completely settle the Karma with ’Void Abyss’.”

Although Qing Lin and the others were reluctant to see him go, they understood that a Kunpeng must eventually soar into the Nine Heavens, and a shallow beach cannot hold a true Dragon. Ye Chen’s path had long since surpassed the scope of the Ancient Path.

”May your Lordship succeed soon, and may your Great Dao prosper forever!” Everyone bowed to see him off.

Ye Chen nodded, taking one last look at this world he had fought bloodily for and ultimately reshaped, and at those familiar faces filled with hope. He left behind a portion of the Heavenly Dao’s authority to maintain the operation of the Ancient Path and protect all living beings.

Subsequently, his figure gradually became illusory, turning into specks of Chaos starlight that merged into the boundless starry sky.

He was gone.

Carrying his responsibility and attachment to the Ancient Path, as well as his exploration and anticipation of the unknown distance.

The Ancient Path ushered in a new era full of hope and vitality. And on the other side of that sea of stars, the legend of the Chaos Walker Ye Chen had only just begun...
