Livestream Conflict-solver: The Whole Internet Begs Me for Justice!

209: Task completedZhang Ze slowly savored the dessert in his mouth, the rich aroma of cream melting on his tongue.

”Hmm, the taste isn’t bad.”

”Is it good?” Sera leaned closer, her blue eyes filled with anticipation.

”Top-notch.” Zhang Ze gave a thumbs-up, then immediately set down the silver spoon. His entire demeanor changed. ”The cake is finished. Time to get to work.”

The atmosphere in the living room, which had just relaxed, instantly became tense again.

”Are we leaving right now?” Dr. Chen Jing asked, his hand, which had been reaching for his bowl of noodles, freezing in mid-air.

The hope of returning home was right before his eyes, but the thought of the dragnet waiting outside made his heart pound.

”Big Brother, the outside is full of people looking for us,” An Yang reminded him with a grave expression.

Zhang Ze’s gaze fell on Sera, who was still holding the delicate tray. ”Your dad said we should ’stay here and relax’?’”

Sera blinked and gently placed the tray on the table.

She suddenly burst out laughing.

”Oh, Dad is just like that; he loves to use reverse psychology. When he tells you to stay, he means you should run as fast as you can.”

An Yang: ”?”

Chen Hu: ”...?”

Dr. Chen Jing: ”???”

”Where are you going?” Sera walked to the massive floor-to-ceiling window and asked softly.

”Los Angeles International Airport. We must be there within an hour and a half.” Zhang Ze stated a time limit even tighter than Dragon Raises Head’s requirement; he liked to have a buffer.

”Then the main entrance is definitely out.” Sera said, pressing an almost invisible bump on the wall. The decorative wall next to it emitted a low hum and slowly slid open, revealing not a secret passage, but another elevator.

”It’s Dad’s toy elevator. It goes straight down to an abandoned municipal maintenance tunnel, and the exit is three blocks away. He uses it to secretly transport... well, collectibles.”

The three men stared simultaneously at the contraption, which was comparable to a freight elevator.

[Collectibles? I bet it’s either firearms or some unlucky person who didn’t listen!]

”What about a car? That Ford definitely can’t be driven out,” Chen Hu, ever the pragmatist, pointed out the crucial issue.

”Of course there is!” Sera clapped her hands happily. ”Follow me!”

She skipped into the elevator, and the four men followed.

The elevator descended silently and smoothly. When it opened, they found themselves in another dimly lit garage.

The cars here were not as flashy as the ones upstairs, but every single one exuded an aura of not-to-be-messed-with.

Sera pointed to a dark gray seven-seater wagon.

”This one! It’s an Audi RS6. Dad had it specially modified. You can’t tell from the outside, but it has bulletproof glass and nitrous injection. He said driving this to pick up the kids from school, you wouldn’t be afraid even if you ran into a lunatic from Colombia.”

Zhang Ze reached out and patted the hood. [Perfect.] He looked at Sera. ”Are you coming with us? It’s dangerous outside.”

”Of course I have to take you!” Sera pouted in dissatisfaction. ”Otherwise, how would you find the fastest route? Besides, with me here, some trouble won’t count as trouble.”

He slid into the driver’s seat, the soft leather embracing his body.

The engine started, emitting a deep roar completely inconsistent with its family wagon appearance.

”Everyone, get in. Chen Hu, passenger seat. An Yang, Doctor, sit in the back. Sera, sit next to me and be my navigator.”

”Call me Baby!” Sera corrected him while fastening her seatbelt.

”Alright, Baby.”

The car silently slipped out of the maintenance tunnel exit and merged into the nighttime traffic of Los Angeles.

Looking at it, it was just another family wagon rushing home.

”Turn left onto Highway 405,” Sera instructed while pulling up a real-time traffic map on the car’s massive central control screen.

Police blockades and congested sections were clearly marked with red lines on the screen. ”We’ll take the back roads to bypass them.”

The ”back roads” Sera spoke of were a complex series of residential streets and industrial back alleys.

The seemingly docile Audi navigated them, displaying the agility and grace of a leopard.

”I still don’t quite understand...” Dr. Chen Jing in the back seat finally couldn’t help but speak.

”That Mr. Lowell... why did he help us?”

Before Zhang Ze could answer, An Yang leaned forward mysteriously. ”Doctor, you wouldn’t understand this. This is my Big Brother’s personal charm!”

... Silence fell over the car again, broken only by the city lights flashing past the windows. The car felt like an isolated island in a turbulent sea, cutting them off from all the external dangers and undercurrents.

Soon, the sign for Los Angeles International Airport appeared ahead.

The private aviation and cargo area was a completely different world from the bustling main terminal; it was quiet, orderly, and even a bit deserted.

Sera pointed toward an unlit hangar at the end of the service road.

”That’s the place. Dad said the surveillance cameras there will ’malfunction’ for one hour tonight.”

Zhang Ze drove the Audi straight up to the hangar door. The door sensed the vehicle and slowly rose. Inside the hangar, two black sedans were parked, and a group of men in sharp black suits stood waiting respectfully.

The man leading them had a square face and an impassive expression.

Seeing Zhang Ze and his group exit the car, he quickly stepped forward to greet them.

”007,” the man spoke, his voice flat. ”Target confirmed.”

”Jiuzhou is in position.” Zhang Ze handed over the still slightly dazed Dr. Chen Jing. ”He’s yours.”

Dr. Chen Jing turned back, looking at Zhang Ze with a complex expression mixed with gratitude, reverence, and bewilderment. ”Comrade Zhang Ze... I...”

”Doctor, travel safely.” Zhang Ze nodded slightly.

”Go back and focus on your research. Strive to let all of us use nuclear-powered phones that charge in five minutes and last for ten thousand years.”

The Doctor was escorted by two men in black toward a private jet that was already prepped nearby.

The square-faced agent gave Zhang Ze one last look.

”Headquarters’ report didn’t mention that this operation involved... family assistance.”

”Plans change faster than they can be made.”

Zhang Ze said calmly. ”Report to the Chief that the mission is complete. Also, he will be staying here for a while; consider it a vacation.”
