Immortality Starts With Investment

Chapter 926: Does Alkaid Not Want to Live Anymore?

Ye Chen gently raised his hand and plucked the golden Heavenly Will Fortune Fruit! It looked like an apple and even carried a faint fragrance. He opened his mouth and bit into it just like eating an apple, mouthful after mouthful. To avoid failing to become a complete Child of Fortune, he did not even spare the core.

The taste was average.

After finishing it, Ye Chen quietly sensed the changes in his body. Yet he found that nothing seemed different. If he had to describe it, he felt slightly more transparent, but not completely so.

After all, fortune was invisible and intangible. If the system had always been reliable, Ye Chen would have suspected whether the fruit was truly effective. Still, he did not dwell on it. He floated down, picked up Luo Bingling, and carried her onto the Seven-colored Nirvana Jade.

Compared to before, Ye Chen showed a few more traces of tenderness.

This had nothing to do with the fact that he had given away the bamboo root Luo Bingling had worked so hard to obtain. He simply felt that Luo Bingling deserved to be cherished.

Before long, however, Luo Bingling asked with a concerned face, ”Husband, did you fight someone before entering the cave heaven? Do you need to rest first?”

Ye Chen was stunned…For a moment, he could not tell whether Luo Bingling was showing concern or issuing a challenge. But without a doubt, the tenderness he had just felt vanished completely.

Ye Chen offered no explanation. He simply proved it with action…

Soon, Lu Jing was summoned by Luo Bingling and joined the battlefield.

Even so, Ye Chen was gentler than usual this time. He held Luo Bingling for noticeably longer periods, and his gaze was much softer.

Luo Bingling clearly noticed the change. Yet she had always been straightforward. ”Husband, I know you must have given the Heavenly Position Bamboo Root to another woman… You are my husband. Everything I have belongs to you. If you want to give it away, then give it away. There is no need to feel guilty about it. Besides, I still prefer the bold, direct, and unrestrained feeling… Husband, you donʼt need to hold back like this!”

Ye Chen: ”…”

He increasingly appreciated the value of War God Clan female cultivators who became wholeheartedly devoted after marriage. Once he understood that Luo Bingling truly liked it that way, Ye Chen went along with her wishes. Only a few dozen breaths later, Luo Bingling fainted in Lu Jingʼs arms…

…

This time, Ye Chen stayed a full week inside the cave heaven. Afterward, he informed the Lan Clan that he would remain in seclusion there for some time. The Lan Clan naturally welcomed the news and agreed repeatedly.

However, even after interacting with outsiders, Ye Chen still could not sense any difference from becoming a Child of Fortune. Could it be that his fortune had already been top-tier before?

Unable to figure it out, Ye Chen stopped thinking about it. Once everything was ready, he returned to the cave heaven and sat cross-legged beneath the newly acquired Heavenly Will Immortal Tree…

As Ye Chen quietly meditated and circulated his cultivation technique, endless Heavenly Position laws descended like rain, pouring onto his body and surging into the Heavenly Heart Imprint deep between his brows…His Heavenly Heart Imprint refined and devoured the Heavenly Position laws at a shocking speed, becoming more and more complete with every passing moment!

…

Deep within the seventh realm, a hazy yet upright figure emitting a faint, misty glow slowly awakened from deep cultivation. He looked down at the chaotic qi constantly surging around him, shook his head, then nodded.

”At the current rate, I will need another ten years to perfect my Innate Chaos Body. Ten years later, I should also reach the Great Emperor realm. Before Immortal Qi fully condenses, I may even reach the peak of Great Emperor.

”As long as I devour the Exiled Immortal, the Celestial Prince, or Ye Chen, I will have a chance to complete the Chaos Body and advance to the peak of Quasi-Immortal. I may not be able to suppress them, but if I seize the right opportunity, I can still obtain their origin. Everything is going smoothly. But why do I feel such unease in my heart?”

The man was none other than the Alkaid Holy Son. At this moment, his brows were tightly furrowed, and his right eyelid twitched faintly. He did not take it lightly. After all, he was now at the Great Saint realm. He had already been able to sense fortune and misfortune back when he was a Saint King, let alone now.

This was definitely not a coincidence. With a faint glow on his cheeks, he slowly circulated a scripture and began deducing the future.

A moment later.

The Alkaid Holy Sonʼs expression changed drastically. He spat out a mouthful of blood, his face turning deathly pale as if his origin had been injured. His complexion had become extremely ugly. He had not seen any specific future. But he had deduced one piece of information: The Heavenly Emperorʼs heir, Ye Chen, knew that he was still alive and hiding in the Seventh Realm.

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

Just this single piece of information related to Ye Chen had injured him severely and even cost him nearly a hundred years of lifespan. Yet the Alkaid Holy Son paid no attention to the loss. Because this message meant his faked death had failed. The Heavenly Emperorʼs heir would definitely not let him go.

Recalling Ye Chenʼs feat of smashing through a Quasi-Immortal array, the self-aware Alkaid Holy Son knew he was no match. If Ye Chen found him, he would undoubtedly die.

And could Ye Chen find him?

Of course, he could.

Merely deducing information related to Ye Chen had caused such severe backlash. It was enough to show that Ye Chen possessed even more powerful deduction methods and was far closer to Heavenly Will. If Ye Chen wanted to, he could easily deduce all information about him without paying too high a price. If he did nothing, he would simply be waiting for death.

Deep in his heart, a trace of regret flickered through the Alkaid Holy Son. Ye Chen had been hiding his true strength like a pig waiting to devour a tiger. If Ye Chen had shown such dominance earlier, how could he have opposed him so soon? He would have waited until he reached Quasi-Immortal before making an enemy of Ye Chen. Unfortunately, there was no regret medicine in the world.

Still, the Alkaid Holy Son possessed a firm will and did not wallow in regret. He immediately began thinking of a way to break the deadlock.

First, he could no longer afford to drag things out. He had never underestimated Ye Chen. Ye Chen might reach Great Saint within ten years. Ye Chenʼs growth speed was far faster than his own. If he continued to delay, his chances of victory would only shrink further.

Second, he needed to obtain the Innate Chaos Body even faster. Once he succeeded, everything would undergo a qualitative change. But the amount of origin he still lacked was enormous. Without the support of the Devouring lineage anymore, he could not gather that terrifying quantity in a short time.

Moreover, even if he obtained the Innate Chaos Body, he could not say with certainty that he would steadily defeat Ye Chen at the Saint King realm. He needed to prepare other trump cards.

After hesitating for a moment, the Alkaid Holy Son stood up at once. He no longer hid his figure and flew straight toward the teleportation array leading to the Eighth Realm.

Just as he was about to reach the array, he was finally spotted, drawing waves of astonished gazes. On one hand, they were shocked that Alkaid was still alive. The news that he had been the successor of the Devouring lineage had shaken the entire cultivation world.

On the other hand, Alkaid had already reached the late Great Saint realm and seemed not far from the peak. That was equally astonishing. Was this the dominance of the Indestructible Heavenly Art? His cultivation speed was terrifyingly fast!

Looking at the chaotic qi flowing around Alkaid, several Great Saints who had noticed him grew even more covetous. Especially an old man who had been stuck at the peak of Great Saint for several thousand years. His aptitude could only support him up to this realm; further breakthroughs were nearly impossible.

But now, Alkaidʼs appearance gave him hope. If he could obtain the Devouring lineageʼs true transmission, he might have a chance to reach Quasi-Immortal.

Without hesitation, the old man raised his hand. ”Alkaid, you little brat! My great-grandson died in the blessed land. It must have been you who devoured him… Get over here and kneel to apologize!”

The next moment, a massive stellar head descended from the sky, covering heaven and earth. It carried endless terrifying world force as it pressed down.

The old man was full of confidence. Although he had remained at the peak of Great Saint for too long, he had never given up on the immortal path over the years. He had polished himself to the limit and even resisted the decay of his fleshly body, maintaining his peak state. Therefore, he was certain he could suppress the Alkaid Holy Son and take everything.

The surrounding Great Saints also stared at Alkaid with eager eyes, ready to make a move. After all, although records of the Devouring Female Immortal were scarce, her name had astonished the cultivation world for countless years. In terms of talent and bearing, she had even surpassed the Heavenly Emperor of her era. From a mere mortal body, she had swept through the cultivation world and, according to legend, remained exceptionally transcendent even after reaching the Immortal Realm.

When the Heavenly Emperor had destroyed the Jianmu Tree, the Devouring Female Immortal had already become an Immortal King. Any inheritance left behind by such an existence would stir their hearts. Even if they did not cultivate it, merely comprehending it would bring countless benefits. They were all watching, ready to strike at the critical moment and divide the spoils.

However, the next moment, Alkaidʼs gaze remained gentle. He simply pointed out a single finger…

Instantly, the Grand Dao Treasure Vase appeared. The mouth of the vase opened, and the giant hand was transformed into origin energy and directly sucked inside.

Immediately after, endless chaotic qi boiled up behind Alkaid.

The Grand Dao Treasure Vase slammed toward the old man.

Countless streams of light shot out from its mouth, transforming in an instant into a giant hand even more terrifying than the old manʼs previous palm. It descended from the sky with overwhelming force…

Accompanying it were countless petals swirling with terrifying killing intent. The chaotic qi also formed a curtain of heaven, completely isolating the area.

The old manʼs expression changed drastically as he frantically tried to block. The spectating Great Saints also wore grave expressions…

A moment later.

The chaotic qi curtain dispersed. The area had become completely silent. The previous elderly peak Great Saint had vanished without a trace.

Behind the Alkaid Holy Son, holy light surged as he returned to his gentle and refined appearance. Only a trace of disappointment showed on his face.

”Old and frail, origin already rotten…”

Shaking his head, Alkaid swept his gaze over the other Great Saints. Those people all retreated, their faces filled with extreme wariness.

In just a dozen breaths, Alkaid had devoured a peak Great Saint? Even though the opponent was already old and no longer at his true peak, it was still unbelievable. They could all tell that Alkaid still had countless methods left. It left them terrified.

Naturally, none of them dared to act anymore. They even began guarding against him, worried that Alkaid might devour them as well.

However, Alkaid only glanced at them once. He did not make any further moves and floated toward the teleportation array.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, yet grew even more curious. Everyone knew Alkaidʼs identity as the Devouring True Transmission inheritor. Why had he suddenly stopped hiding his whereabouts? If he walked out of the Immortal Path, the Great Emperors would definitely take action. Did Alkaid not want to live anymore?

While everyone was wondering, they discovered that Alkaid did not step onto the departing teleportation array. Instead, he stepped onto the one leading to the Eighth Realm of the Immortal Path.

This caused everyoneʼs eyes to narrow, filled with confusion!
