Immortality Starts With Investment

Chapter 702: Becoming the Very Person He Once Despised!

Just as destructive light flickered in Ye Chenʼs eyes and the aura of death descended, the Little Peacock King instantly transmitted his voice: ”Uncle, spare my life…”

That single word made Ye Chenʼs brow twitch. But immediately after, a cold smile curved his lips. Did he really think calling him ”uncle” would let him escape death?

These days, Ye Chen no longer desperately needed high-multiplier women. After all, today had produced a very sensible five-thousand-times beauty in Yao Yuezhi. And the Chaos Body Yan Qingcheng, the pinnacle constitution in the cultivation world, could also crit.

By comparison, even if that Saint King Yan Ruyu had been the previous generationʼs number-one myriad races beauty, Ye Chen estimated she was only around six thousand times. Having her would be nice. But not having her? He wouldnʼt lose sleep over it. Letting Yao Yuekong live had been a whim. But if he let the Little Peacock King go for the same reason, once word got out, wouldnʼt everyone really believe he was a hopeless womanizer with no bottom line?

Thus, his killing intent did not waver in the slightest. The annihilating light in his eyes was already gathering. The Little Peacock King had already felt heartbroken just from calling him ”uncle.” Seeing it was useless, he shuddered violently. Under the threat of death, he hurriedly continued transmitting: ”Uncle, I only entered the battlefield because the clan elders ordered it. The elders believe the Golden Age has arrived. Even Aunt has a chance at the one and only slot to immortality. So they want Aunt to pair with a supreme genius. They selected many candidates. But the moment I saw you in person, I was stunned. How can there be such a powerful man in this world? You and Aunt are truly a match made in heaven. When I return, I will tell the elders to discard all other candidates. Only you, uncle, are worthy of my aunt!

”Aunt is a peerless beauty, pure and unsullied, with five-colored divine feathers said to rival our ancestorʼs. But thereʼs one thing outsiders donʼt know. Deep in her origin essence, besides the five-colored feathers, there are two more colors—very faint, unable to fully manifest. The elders all believe that when Aunt reaches Quasi-Immortal and begins to excavate her bloodline divine troves, she will awaken the remaining two feathers and possess seven-colored divine light. If thatʼs true, Aunt will surpass our ancestor. Uncle, you are indeed the strongest since time immemorial, but Aunt may also surpass our ancestor. You two are a perfect match in talent and beauty. If you donʼt walk the immortal path together, it would truly be a shame for the ages.”

To survive, the Little Peacock King spilled everything. Pushing his beloved aunt outward like this, his heart bled. But he knew the truth himself. Even if he refined the divine feathers left by their ancestor, he could never catch up to his auntʼs innate five-colored divine feathers, let alone her future potential. So his dream was doomed to remain just that—a dream. Since it could never come true, staying alive was naturally the most important thing.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Ye Chenʼs killing intent had been rock-solid. But after hearing the Little Peacock Kingʼs words, he raised a brow. In the Ancient Desolate Era, the Peacock Clanʼs ancestor, Kong Xuan, had dominated with his five-colored divine light—capable of brushing away anything, seizing anything. It was practically a supercharged version of the Armament Secret. Even after entering the Immortal Realm, he had achieved many astonishing feats. Five-colored divine light was already that strong. And Yan Ruyu might actually reach seven colors? Just how high would her multiplier be? Could she, in the future, surpass even the Chaos Body?

Ye Chenʼs interest instantly skyrocketed. Moreover, the remnant soul of the Seven Extremes Immortal Body inside Senior An had once said that upon perfection, the Seven Extremes Immortal Body could also wield seven-colored divine light. Was there any connection between Yan Ruyuʼs potential seven-colored light and the Seven Extremesʼ? Did Yan Ruyu have ties to the Seven Extremes Immortal Body?

In short, after thinking it over, Ye Chen decided Yan Ruyu still had potential. Worth contacting in the future. His expression gradually softened. The killing intent vanished. When he looked at the Little Peacock King again, a faint smile appeared. He walked over.

Under the peacockʼs stiff gaze, Ye Chen reached out and ruffled his hair.

”Good nephew, I was just teasing you to scare you a little. No need to be nervous…”

The Little Peacock Kingʼs once-immaculate hair was now a mess. And hearing ”good nephew,” imagining his aunt sitting in Ye Chenʼs lap in the future, his heart twisted with unbearable grievance. But he didnʼt dare show it.

Ye Chen didnʼt mind. He only asked curiously, ”Why do both Yao Yuezhiʼs group and you call her ʼauntʼ? How does your naming work?”

Seeing that Ye Chen truly was, as rumored, a complete womanizer—and was sparing him because of his aunt—the Little Peacock King exhaled in relief and answered with suppressed bitterness: ”Among the myriad races, intermarriage is common. Many clans have techniques to ensure the dominant bloodline is preserved, so offspring wonʼt show traits of the other race. Both Yao Yuekongʼs father and my father are Auntʼs older brothers. His father had weaker bloodline concentration and married into the Heavenly Demon Clan. So even though weʼre different races, we all call her Aunt!”

The Little Peacock Kingʼs explanation cleared up a long-standing confusion for Ye Chen. It made sense when he thought about it. If the Victorious Fighting Apes married into the War God Clan and produced a heaven-defying War God Body, would that child count as their race?

If yes, and that child grew up to lead the Victorious Fighting Apes, in a few generations the entire clan might be War God Bodies. To prevent that, controlling offspring bloodlines was only logical.

Ye Chen patted the Little Peacock Kingʼs shoulder. ”Alright, good nephew, go play outside!” He even transmitted it privately to save the kid some face. After all, they might be family one day!

Only Ye Chen and the Holy Prince had held authority over the battlefield array. With one dead, the survivor inherited full control. He could open or close the formation at will.

Seeing a gap large enough for him to leave appear, the Little Peacock King finally exhaled in complete relief. But then he thought of how he had sold out his aunt to survive—just like Yao Yuekong—and his mood plummeted.

In the end, he had become the very kind of person he once despised. At least it had all been a private transmission. No one outside knew what had happened. No one knew he had sold his aunt to live. That was a small mercy!
