Chapter 198: I Want You to Die with Me

Su Yuxuan couldnʼt hold back anymore.

”Senior brother, cultivation is like swimming against the current, we must forge ahead. How can we just sink into despair and wait for death?”

Ye Chen nodded, ”Youʼre right! But as a late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator, what can I do?”

Su Yuxuan spoke seriously, ”Senior brother, if you give me your heart... I can secretly rid myself of the Heart Devouring Talisman and gather strength. When Old Monster Wang finishes refining the medicine and comes to capture me, Iʼll strike her with a fatal blow.”

Ye Chen frowned slightly after hearing this, ”But what if your ambush fails, and she uses our brotherʼs soul to threaten you?”

Su Yuxuan felt exasperated but still spoke earnestly, ”We have to try... Besides, although Old Monster Wang swore an oath to the heavens, I still donʼt fully trust her. She promised to release my brotherʼs soul from the Human Emperor Banner, to let it return to nature. But who knows if sheʼll let someone else destroy my brotherʼs soul? The heavenly oath has too many loopholes. So, rather than relying on others, relying on myself is better.”

Ye Chen nodded upon hearing this. This was the true nature of the little demoness. She had once promised to stay by his side forever, only to abandon him when it suited her. How could she trust anyoneʼs words? Even the heavenly oath couldnʼt be trusted. Her earlier act had been far too unnatural.

However, Ye Chenʼs face still showed hesitation, ”But if I give you my heart, doesnʼt that mean I die?”

Who would want to die?

Su Yuxuan understood Ye Chenʼs hesitation. She gently placed her small foot into his hand, ”But if you donʼt give it to me, weʼre both dead... If you give me your heart, I might still have a chance to live. Youʼve said it yourself: making the enemy unhappy is the same as making yourself happy. Rather than letting Old Monster Wang easily possess me and kill you, why not let me live, and Iʼll kill her? This would be the best ending.”

Su Yuxuan decided to play her cards openly. It was clear that Ye Chen truly liked her. Since other methods werenʼt working, she would have to plead with him.

Ye Chen had already given her his eyes before. Later, he gave her precious items like the Glazed Purification Water and the Ancient Jade as soon as he got them. Now, with a choice that could save her life and bring trouble to the enemy, there was a very high chance Ye Chen would agree.

But Ye Chen furrowed his brow even deeper. ”But... if I die, what happens to the enemy doesnʼt matter to me at all.”

Su Yuxuan: ...

Thatʼs not what you said just now.

Su Yuxuan held back the urge to grind her teeth. ”Senior brother, isnʼt it good for me to live?”

Ye Chen shook his head seriously. ”Honestly, Iʼm not very happy about it. I do like you. But the premise is that Iʼm alive, and I have the chance to be with you. But if I die, and one day you find a partner, when I think about how your future wonʼt have me in it, how everything that belongs to me will belong to another man, I become even more unwilling. Iʼm not a saint, Iʼm actually very selfish. So, letʼs die together...”

Su Yuxuan panicked. Because Ye Chen liked her, he wanted to drag her down with him?

This...

Su Yuxuan hurriedly spoke up: ”To truly love someone, it shouldnʼt be about possession. Itʼs enough to see her happy. Like that saying, what was it? Ah, yes, ʼIf you are well, then itʼs a sunny day.ʼ And besides, I promise I will stay alone for the rest of my life. I wonʼt ever find another man. After meeting someone like senior brother, how could I look at anyone else?”

Su Yuxuanʼs words made Ye Chenʼs lips twitch.

Didnʼt I just say that?

But Ye Chen remained unmoved. ”Really? I donʼt believe it! You said youʼd stay with me forever, but the moment the restrictions were lifted, you ran away immediately.”

Su Yuxuanʼs pale face flushed slightly as she quickly explained, ”Thatʼs not it, itʼs just... I had deep, unresolved grudges to avenge, thatʼs why... At the time, I made up my mind that once I got my revenge, Iʼd sit by your grave for the rest of my life, to make up for deceiving and betraying you, senior brother.”

Ye Chen didnʼt continue with this topic.

While gently rubbing her small foot, he looked off into the distance and spoke, ”Iʼve heard that in the final moments before death, a person will recall their entire life. I think, in the memories that belong to me, junior sister will definitely occupy the largest portion…”

Seeing that Ye Chen was now discussing his ”life flashing before his eyes,” Su Yuxuan became even more anxious…

I really donʼt want to die.

Old Monster Wangʼs refining process was almost done. Her heart couldnʼt hold on much longer. Even if she got Ye Chenʼs heart, it would take time to refine and merge the heart with her body. She was truly running out of time.

…

Su Yuxuan thought back to the benefits she had gained from Ye Chen before, and the price she had to pay for them. She lightly clenched her silver teeth, her body floating up and away from Ye Chenʼs embrace, then slowly extending her small foot. ”Senior brother, what if I use my little foot?”

As she said this, she smoothly prepared to take action.

But Ye Chen, who had always welcomed such gestures in the past, this time immediately pulled his hand away, his face showing disinterest. ”Donʼt do that. I said I just want to quietly spend the last moments with you.”

Ye Chen wasnʼt interested in this anymore? Was his previous rejection just a way to toy with her?

Su Yuxuan was genuinely panicking now. She bit her lip lightly. ”Senior brother, what if I use this place?”

But Ye Chen still waved his hand dismissively. ”No need. Look over there, doesnʼt that great hall look like the stars?”

Su Yuxuanʼs eyes filled with despair. But she still leaned close to Ye Chen, making one last attempt: ”Senior brother, I love this…”

Yet Ye Chen remained unmoved, showing no interest. Now, Su Yuxuan truly felt a deep sense of hopelessness. She had always thought, after Ye Chen had given her so many precious items, including his Divine Ability eyes, that getting Ye Chenʼs heart was a sure thing. But she didnʼt expect Ye Chen to be so determined to die with her

What should she do now? Had she really come to the end of the road?

Su Yuxuanʼs face was filled with resentment and despair. If there were no other way, she would make sure that Old Monster Wang didnʼt have it easy. She would self-destruct in the final moment.

Even if she couldnʼt kill Old Monster Wang, she knew he didnʼt have many years left to live. Where would he find another Golden Core cultivator with a blood spiritual root?

Thus, Old Monster Wang was as good as dead. As for her brotherʼs soul, Su Yuxuan couldnʼt help but smile coldly. If she didnʼt show how much she valued her brother, How could Old Monster Wang think she could be controlled?

...

Still, Su Yuxuan wasnʼt ready to give up. She made one last effort. She looked at Ye Chen with a pitiful expression, hoping he would change his mind. She occasionally let out a suppressed groan as her heart continued to be devoured by the talisman. The furrowed brows on her face made her look even more pitiful.

At first, Ye Chen ignored her completely. But after a long while, he finally couldnʼt take it anymore. He turned his head and sighed, speaking softly, ”You... Do you really want my heart that badly?”
