Immortality Starts With Investment

Chapter 148: You Never Loved Me!

”Senior Brother, hiding in the great hall is ultimately not a long-term solution. When the enemy breaks the array, weʼll both die! Moreover, they will surely use this time to set up barriers outside, blocking all our escape routes. Given this, why not gift me your eyes... Once I cultivate the Extreme Dao Blood Pupils, I will slay them all. Then both of us can survive! Eyes are indeed important, but surviving is even more crucial!”

Su Yuxuan tried to persuade earnestly, hoping to convince Ye Chen to give up his eyes. Itʼs outrageous to ask someone to give up their eyes. A normal cultivator would definitely not agree. But Ye Chen had previously given away genuine Foundation Establishment techniques. So, giving away a pair of eyes might not be entirely impossible.

However, Ye Chen shook his head without hesitation: ”No. Without my eyes, Iʼll be blind. As a cultivator in the Foundation Establishment stage, I could live over a hundred more years. If I become blind, life wouldnʼt be worth living. Letʼs just die together then!”

Su Yuxuanʼs mouth twitched.

I donʼt want to die!

She hurriedly tried to convince him: ”It wonʼt happen, Senior Brother. There are many spells in the world of cultivation to regenerate eyes, we just need to find them. I will definitely help you find the most perfect pair of eyes to replace yours. I can even find someone with an innate Divine Ability and take their eyes for you. You definitely wonʼt become blind in the future.”

Ye Chen scoffed inwardly.

This Su Yuxuan, when she sees benefits, she promises without hesitation. Just like the lies men tell women the first time they go to a hotel. Promises of a lifetime, of undivided love. Once they get what they want, they turn their heads and forget.

If Ye Chen believed her, heʼd be a fool. Ye Chen took out a lounge chair from his storage ring. It was a comfortable piece he had procured from Yao Xi.

Lying on the lounge chair, Ye Chen appeared listless, as if he had lost his desire for life.

”Enough. If I become blind, how could you possibly spare me another glance? No woman is reliable. Once Iʼm blind, the women who now adore me, including my maids, will surely all leave me. Iʼll have to spend the rest of my life alone and miserable. A life like that might as well not be worth living!”

Su Yuxuan became frantic: ”Senior Brother, youʼre talking about other women. I wonʼt do that, I will stay with you for a lifetime. Once we escape this danger, Iʼll spend the rest of my life by your side, and I will never let you feel lonely.”

Ye Chen looked at Su Yuxuan skeptically: ”How can you prove youʼll stay with me forever and never disdain me?”

Su Yuxuan: ”???”

How can I prove that? I canʼt prove it. I just want your eyes.

Su Yuxuan wanted to say something. But then she noticed Ye Chenʼs gaze had shifted to her small feet. Remembering the humiliation from before, her pretty face twitched...

But Ye Chenʼs eyes, not only could they make her stronger. They could also help her escape to safety. She couldnʼt die yet! Even if it meant enduring humiliation, she had to survive.

Su Yuxuan bit her silver teeth and gently lifted her skirt, careful not to soil it later. Seeing Ye Chen motionless on the lounge chair. Su Yuxuan could only slowly float up, standing above Ye Chenʼs lounge chair.

...

The next day.

Su Yuxuan repeatedly cast cleaning spells on her feet. Seeing Ye Chen stretching leisurely, she hurriedly asked, ”Senior Brother, does this prove it now?”

Ye Chen shook his head without hesitation: ”Yesterday, I saw disdain in your expression. Now, even without giving you my eyes, you show such disdain. Wouldnʼt you disdain me even more once I give them to you?”

Su Yuxuan bit her lip, suppressing her anger, and smiled coyly: ”What are you talking about, Senior Brother... I didnʼt disdain you, itʼs just that Iʼm not used to it. After all, Iʼve never been with a man before!”

Ye Chen looked skeptical: ”Is that so?”

Su Yuxuan nodded eagerly: ”Itʼs true, the favor you did me by giving me the Earth-grade Foundation Establishment technique has already made me fall deeply in love with you. I love you to death, how could I possibly disdain you!”

Thus, under Su Yuxuanʼs hopeful gaze, Ye Chen nodded and said, ”Alright, then after I complete my cultivation, Iʼll give you another chance!”

Su Yuxuan, fighting the urge to grind her teeth, nodded eagerly, pretending to look forward.

...

”Junior Sister, why did you dodge at the last moment? If youʼre not even willing to touch it, how can you say you love me? What, that was a reflex? Okay, then Iʼll test you again tomorrow!”

...

”Senior Brother, can you give me the eyes now? Iʼm afraid weʼre running out of time!”

”Donʼt rush, I still have a few more fortification talismans, we can hold on for a few more days. Besides, this is too monotonous. If weʼre going to live together for a lifetime, but you canʼt even bother to put some thought into our relationship, how can I expect you to stay with me forever?”

”I... alright... what about this way then...”

...

”Senior Brother, can you give me the eyes now? Is it enough?”

”Are you getting impatient with me? Itʼs only been a few days and youʼre already impatient. How could you possibly endure a lifetime? What, youʼre not impatient? Prove it to me... Donʼt prove it that way, try a different method...”

...

”You actually spit it out. I saw you spit it out behind my back. You donʼt love me. Your expression was too forced, you donʼt love me, youʼre just coveting my eyes...”

”You...”

A whole week passed like this.

Su Yuxuan was seething with the desire to commit murder. Halfway through, she even considered going all out. Offering herself to Ye Chen, then draining him dry and seizing his eyes in the process.

Unexpectedly, Ye Chen refused. He claimed he couldnʼt take advantage of someone in a vulnerable state. This actually made Su Yuxuan burst into laughter.

How could he have the audacity to say he wouldnʼt take advantage of someone? Can you even be considered a person? Please, come join our Misty Sect; you can be the sect leader!

...

Meanwhile, Ye Chen, who had been pondering all week, finally made a decision. To give... to take a risk, to transform a bicycle into a motorcycle.

After all, the Eye of Destruction was just an added luxury for him. If the system didnʼt acknowledge it, then it wouldnʼt matter if he lost it. He didnʼt lack an attack-oriented Divine Ability. But if the system acknowledged it, everything would change.

Su Yuxuan had made such great efforts to obtain his eyes. And the array was becoming increasingly unstable, heightening the sense of crisis. In such circumstances, giving his eyes to Su Yuxuan would likely ensure a high explosion rate. The eyes that would be reflected back would undoubtedly surpass all expectations.

In short, to take a risk, to transform a bicycle into a motorcycle, even if he suffered a loss, he could afford it. Thus, after reminding Su Yuxuan to wipe the corner of her mouth, Ye Chen spoke without hesitation: ”Your sincerity has moved me. My latter life depends on you now! With that in mind, I will give you my eyes!”

As the words fell, Ye Chen didnʼt hesitate to use his spiritual power. He severed all the blood vessels and nerves connecting his body to his eyes. There was no pain at all. And after doing all this, everything went dark before Ye Chenʼs eyes. Though now blind, his spirit sense could still perceive everything around him.

Ye Chen closed his eyes tightly, solemnly using his spiritual power to present his eyes to Su Yuxuan.

Su Yuxuan, wiping the corner of her mouth, looked at the clear eyes before her. She widened her beautiful eyes in disbelief. Could Ye Chen really have given her his eyes?
