Immortal and Martial Dual Cultivation

Chapter 1487 (Raw 1467): Who is Causing Mischief

As Mo Chen was about to leave, Xiao Chen said, ”There is no need to be so distant. After being in closed-door cultivation for three months, there is a place that I want to visit. Come with me.”

When Mo Chen heard this, she was somewhat surprised. The banquet for the Dragon’s Gate’s reconstruction is in three days. Where is Big Brother Xiao going?

”Where to?”

”Meteor Trail City, the bloody graveyard.”

”There…”

This is really surprising. Big Brother Xiao actually wants to go there. That place is inauspicious.

”What’s wrong? No time?” Xiao Chen asked when he saw Mo Chen hesitate somewhat.

”No, I have time. Are we going now?” Mo Chen replied quickly with a smile after startling awake. Even if she did not have time, she would squeeze out some.

”Yes.”

Xiao Chen waved his hand, and two mutated flood dragons pulling the Cycle War Chariot descended from the sky. He boarded first before making a gesture of invitation.

Mo Chen smiled and laughed, somewhat tickled by Xiao Chen’s actions.

After the two entered the war chariot, it instantly soared into the clouds, flying to the transportation formation on Heavenly Star Island.

Three days would not be enough if one wanted to fly to the Kunlun Continent. However, if one took the transportation formation to the Central Province of the Tianwu Domain and rushed to Meteor Trail City from there, three days would be sufficient.

”Big Brother Xiao, why do you want to go to the bloody graveyard? That place…” Mo Chen asked somewhat shyly in the chariot.

Mo Chen had been to the bloody graveyard before. Blood Crows made of the sins from Xiao Chen thronged the sky of that place. The large graveyard was also crowded with tombstones with Xiao Chen’s name written in blood.

The moment Xiao Chen removed his mask and pulled out the Lunar Shadow Saber, he had already resolved his obsession.

He could now face this. He said softly, ”It’s fine. Fleeing is not a solution. The past is already over. No matter how much I regret it, it is useless. I just want to take one final look and see if I can eradicate the sins in the sky.”

Now that Xiao Chen’s obsession was resolved, he had to try to eradicate the sins filling the sky. Otherwise, if he just let it be, problems were very likely to crop up.

The origin of those sins was rather strange. Xiao Chen had killed countless people, so many that he had lost track. However, when he thought about it, those were all people who deserved death. He had never killed the innocent. He could not have accumulated so much sin.

There was only one possible explanation. Those sins were all left by the Azure Emperor.

Xiao Chen also vaguely felt that the Emperor’s Road five years ago was a trap. The appearance of a bloody Emperor’s Road was definitely not random. Perhaps there were some secrets behind it.

Of course, this was just a guess. There was no substantial evidence to support it.

”We’ve arrived.”

A day later, Meteor Trail City appeared in the distance. The scarlet clouds in the sky were already visible.

Xiao Chen waved his hand, and the Cycle War Chariot transformed into a throne. Then it entered his white clothes. The two slowly descended from the sky and stood at the rubble of the city gates.

Looking at the dimly lit and ruined Meteor Trail City, the two were deeply moved.

The scenes from five years ago appeared in their minds. As they thought about the events of that day, it felt like just yesterday.

That huge battle had truly been startling, turning the place dark. The memories were still dark, probably impossible to forget in this lifetime.

Every step of the Emperor’s Road was very difficult; the memory of this was carved into his bones, indelible.

”Thinking of the past?” Xiao Chen asked when he saw Mo Chen’s smile fade from her pretty face, which now looked grave.

Mo Chen forced out a smile and said, ”I was thinking of many things. I was thinking, what would it be like if Big Brother Xiao had not jumped off the Emperor’s Road for us back then?”

”Do you believe in karma?”

”What do you mean?”

”Karma means that there is no coincidence in this world. Everything that happens, happens for a reason. There is definitely some purpose for everything.”

Since Mo Chen seemed to both understand and not understand at the same time, Xiao Chen smiled and stopped explaining.

Instead, he simply said, ”Actually, in my opinion, the final test of the Emperor’s Road was not whether I could step across or not. Instead, it was whether I had the courage to jump down or not. Five years later, when I look back now, I think I really won the bet.”

Mo Chen narrowed her eyes slightly as she showed her teeth in a smile. ”As long Big Brother Xiao can walk out from the shadows, Mo Chen thinks that it is a good thing.”

Xiao Chen felt a warmth in his heart. Then, he looked in front and said, ”Come, let’s go in and walk around.”

”Alright.”

Xiao Chen was relatively familiar with the graveyard. After all, he had come here once a year for the past five years.

Every time he came, the pain in his heart intensified further.

It became so painful that he lost the courage to leave the Cycle War Chariot and remove his mask.

Now that Xiao Chen came to this place again, he left the war chariot, removed his mask, and brought a friend over. The pain was no longer there. Instead, what he felt was more of a stirring of emotions. Death did not represent destruction; it represented new life.

Back then, these people died for him. They did not have any hope other than hoping that Xiao Chen could stand out and become the one favored by Luck. They had hoped that he would lead them to resist the Deity Dao Union, then resist the impending Demonic Calamity, which could arrive at any time.

They vested their new lives in Xiao Chen. As long as Xiao Chen could step up, these people would gain new life.

If he could not, then their deaths would be destruction. It would be grief, despair, pain, and all sorts of other negative emotions.

After comprehending the state of cycles, Xiao Chen looked at problems from an extraordinary angle. He could now calmly face all this. All he needed to do was to be grateful and continue walking.

If he remained isolated, stuck in his obsession, that would be the greatest disrespect for these dead people.

”Strange?”

After walking around for half a day, Xiao Chen revealed a suspicious expression, feeling very confused.

Seeing this, Mo Chen quickly asked, ”Big Brother Xiao, what’s wrong?”

”When I came here previously, there would be many Blood Crows. The moment they discovered my existence, they would flock over. However, this time, aside from the scarlet clouds in the sky, I do not see any Blood Crows. The number of Blood Crows is also much lower.”

Mo Chen was confused. ”Is there something wrong with that?”

”It is very wrong. Someone is refining these Blood Crows, absorbing and digesting the sin that was once on my body.”

Xiao Chen frowned slightly as he thought of an awful possibility.

In the past, some Blood Demon cultivators would come to refine and absorb these Blood Crows. However, they had hardly made a dent on the origin of the sins. No matter how many Blood Crows they killed, the numbers always regenerated.

However, this time, the might of the sins in the sky was distinctly weaker. The number of Blood Crows had decreased markedly.

Who exactly is doing this?

Xiao Chen closed his eyes and extended his Spiritual Sense into the bloody graveyard. He slowly searched around, but aside from some scattered people who were here to tidy the graves, there were only Blood Demons on experiential training.

He did not discover anything suspicious.

Did I sense wrong?

Xiao Chen was not satisfied with this, so he used his Spiritual Sense to search again. After not discovering anything, he personally walked around and checked the entire graveyard. In the end, he still did not discover anything.

However, he did dispose of the Blood Demons that he ran into along the way.

When Xiao Chen looked up, the dense scarlet clouds in the sky seemed dim in comparison to when he first arrived. However, the difference was not great and hard to notice.

”Big Brother Xiao, perhaps that person is in the sky.”

Mo Chen’s words startled Xiao Chen to his senses. His eyes lit up as he said, ”That’s right. The sins are densest in the scarlet clouds in the sky. Just grazing against them would taint the body with sin. Ordinary people would not go there, so I overlooked it. However, someone truly capable of refining the origin of the sins would not care about that.”

With a thought, Xiao Chen pushed off the ground with the tips of his toes. Then, he instantly shot up towards the scarlet clouds like a sharp arrow.

However, there seemed to be some secret to the scarlet clouds—a soft barrier that felt like cotton.

No matter how much force Xiao Chen used, he could not break it open. Instead, the sins burdened him, which felt rather unbearable.

After Xiao Chen tried a few times, his eyes turned scarlet. Black lines appeared on the surface of his eyeballs, the sign of sin entering deep into the body and affecting the mind, an extremely dangerous thing.

Xiao Chen did not dare to remain much longer. He quickly left the scarlet clouds and landed on the ground. Then, he immediately used the Great Dao Energy to eliminate all the sin in his body.

”What’s wrong?” Mo Chen asked somewhat worriedly when she noticed that the situation was off.

After eliminating the sin in his body, Xiao Chen smiled and said, ”You are right. Something is happening in the scarlet clouds. Even I cannot split them easily.”

Being hard to split did not mean it was impossible. It just meant that one had to put in some effort.

Xiao Chen was not afraid of hard work. He was only afraid of not finding anything. Now that there was a clue, he was naturally happy.

”Move back a little.”

Xiao Chen told Mo Chen to move away. Then, with a thought, the Great Dao Energy disk of light behind him condensed into a spot. Then, it soared into the air, reaching a height of ten meters before he shouted, ”Dao!”

Xiao Chen pointed at the sky, and with the support of the Great Dao Energy, a saber light lit up the dark Meteor Trail City.

The saber light turned into a resplendent beam of light, shooting out together with a boundless saber intent. It instantly tore a hole in the scarlet clouds.
