Who Made Him an Antagonist

379: Chapter 379 The Tacit Understanding Between Grandfather and GrandsonA quarter of an hour later, the old man, leaning on his cane, looked at the maid applying medicine to Yun Qing and said with earnest dissatisfaction, ”I can understand that you are angry.”

”After all, it was Yun Qing who was watching the stove, and it exploded on her watch.”

”But have you ever thought, if you hadn’t forced Yun Qing to come over, who would be the one closest to the stove right now, suffering the deepest impact of the explosion?”

”A perfectly fine stove wouldn’t just explode because Yun Qing fanned it, would it?”

”To put it plainly, Yun Qing took the brunt of this unprovoked disaster for you!”

The maid lowered her head in panic, ”Old Man, I... I am sorry.”

Old Man Li shook his head, ”The one you need to apologize to isn’t me, this old man, but Yun Qing.”

The maid was applying burn ointment to Yun Qing’s arm. With her head lowered, she said guiltily, ”Yun Qing, I’m sorry. Not only did I implicate you, but I also blamed you for causing trouble.”

”It’s fine, it’s fine.” Yun Qing shook her head. ”Just twist your head off and let me kick it around like a ball, and we’ll be even.”

Of course, that last part was only in Yun Qing’s thoughts; she didn’t actually say it out loud.

She looked up at Old Man Li, feeling slightly uncomfortable, and said, ”Old Man, isn’t this ointment too precious? Using it on me is a waste, isn’t it?”

”For a young girl, having your skin ruined by burns is a big deal.”

Old Man Li shook his head. ”Besides, this ointment is meant for removing scars. Now that the scars I got from the battlefield are mostly gone, it’s just sitting there. Using it on you is not a waste.”

Desire Demoness looked down at the burns on her arm, which were healing at a visible rate under the application of the burn ointment. She felt very strange inside.

She thought to herself: This Old Man Li seems a bit different from the others! He doesn’t wrongly accuse people. And, he actually cares about her!? This Old Man Li is actually quite a decent person.

Just a moment ago, she had cursed Old Man Li as a wretched old man who wanted to drag someone down with him before he died. That was truly a bit like returning kindness with enmity!

”Old Man Li, you’ve paved a wide path for yourself!”

”Once This Demoness regains her magic power and kills your grandson, This Demoness promises to let you live a few hundred more years!”

Desire Demoness thought this to herself secretly. She couldn’t help it; she felt that this feeling of being cared for was very good and precious.

You have to understand, even her own parents and siblings had colluded with outsiders to send her into a fire and burn her alive. Let alone care from strangers!

It had been so many years, and this was the first time she had encountered someone who genuinely cared for her without being threatened by her!

”Little Liu!” Old Man Li turned his head to look at the Old Butler.

The Old Butler lowered his eyes, looked at Desire Demoness sitting in the chair, and said sincerely, ”I am sorry.”

”It’s fine!” Desire Demoness flexed her arm, not bothering to look at the Old Butler, and looked at Old Man Li, saying, ”I’m better, I can work now.”

Old Man Li shook his head. ”Rest for a few days.”

Desire Demoness shook her head vigorously. ”No rest, no slacking off, I can work right now!”

This minor burn was nothing to her. Besides, she was taking a salary from Old Man Li. The work she did was for Old Man Li. She couldn’t take advantage of anyone, but she especially couldn’t take advantage of Old Man Li.

”In that case.” Old Man Li thought for a moment and said softly, ”Since Qin Ge doesn’t want to come out to eat, you prepare some food and take it to Qin Ge.”

Uh— Desire Demoness’s beautiful lips twitched slightly as she froze in place. When a person is speechless, they are truly speechless.

She suddenly wanted to retract what she had just said. She had just escaped from Qin Ge’s wolf den, and now, she was going to throw herself into the net again!?

Old Man Li smiled and said, ”If you’re tired, go and rest. There are others in the house.”

Desire Demoness could have refused, but looking at Old Man Li’s kind gaze, she shook her head and said firmly, ”I can do it, I’ll go!”

A quarter of an hour later, Desire Demoness, carrying a food tray, hesitated in front of Qin Ge’s room, unable to bring herself to enter.

Suddenly, the door opened. Qin Ge reached out, grabbed Desire Demoness, and without caring about the spilled food, pulled her straight onto the bed.

”Yun Qing, you still dare to come here?”

”I thought that once you escaped, you would never come back!”

”What is it, have you thought it through?”

Qin Ge had a smile on his lips and a lecherous glint in his eyes as he stared at Desire Demoness beneath him, asking with an increasingly evil and charming smile.

”Young Master Qin, please don’t be like this!”

”If you bully me, I will scream.”

Desire Demoness averted her gaze, not daring to meet Qin Ge’s eyes, bit her lip, and spoke with shame and anger.

Qin Ge leaned over, moved close to her ear, and blew a puff of hot air, ”Go ahead and scream.”

”In the Li family, even if you scream until your throat is raw, no one will come to save you!”

As he finished speaking, Qin Ge played the part of a dissolute young master, staging a scene of bullying others by abusing his power.

”Young Master Qin!”

”No— don’t!”

”Young Master Qin, don’t do anything reckless!” Desire Demoness pleaded in distress.

Bang— Outside, someone kicked the door open.

Qin Ge and Desire Demoness both looked over, only to see the gray-haired Old Man Li standing outside the door, leaning on his cane.

”It’s over. Old Man Li loves Qin Ge so much; given the current situation, he’s definitely going to scold me for not knowing what’s good for me.”

”After all, I was screaming wildly and ruined his grandson’s reputation!”

”I finally found a sensible Old Man Li, and now, is he going to stand on the opposite side of This Demoness again?”

Just as Desire Demoness felt a sense of reluctance in her heart, she saw the old man, leaning on his cane, walk to the bed, raise his cane, and strike Qin Ge on the shoulder. ”You brat!”

”I’ll show you bullying people!”

”Where did you pick up such stinky habits?”

”Abusing your power?”

”Who spoiled you like this!?”

Qin Ge groaned in distress, ”Grandfather!”

Old Man Li was furious. ”I don’t have a grandson like you who bullies others by abusing his power!”

Desire Demoness looked at Old Man Li, her big, watery eyes shining with a sparkling, bright light. This Old Man Li is such a good person! He is reasonable and doesn’t protect his own faults.

Not only did he not favor Qin Ge, but he was actually standing up for her. He is just like my grandfather!

When Desire Demoness was in the Magic World, she had a grandfather, though they weren’t blood-related; he was a scavenger. He treated her very well and gave her all the good food and drink.

Later, he was burned alive by those who persecuted her. Although she had already avenged her grandfather, she missed the grandfather who treated her well every single moment. In Old Man Li, she saw the shadow of her grandfather!

”Old Li... Old Man, don’t... don’t hit him anymore.” Desire Demoness persuaded softly. She wasn’t feeling sorry for Qin Ge, but was worried that while Old Man Li didn’t hurt Qin Ge, he might end up breaking his own fragile body.

Hmph! Old Man Li gave a heavy cold snort, and his cane thudded against the floor with a bang.

He looked at Qin Ge, gritting his teeth, with veins bulging on his forehead. ”You brat, today, you must give an explanation!”

”You bullied someone, it can’t just be let go like this!”

”You must take responsibility! Take responsibility for Yun Qing!”

”You are to marry Yun Qing, with an eight-bearer sedan chair— no, a sixteen-bearer sedan chair— and marry Yun Qing in a grand and spectacular wedding!”

Desire Demoness opened her little mouth wide, ”Ah?” Old Man Li is indeed a good person. But, his brain is a bit broken. Asking Qin Ge to marry her. Isn’t that clearly just handing her over to Qin Ge on a silver platter?
