Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1245 1245: The Spirit Beast

The duel hall grew tense as Ceciliaʼs grimoire released her Spirit Beast and easily blocked the blades summoned by Neja…

The wolf-like creature wasnʼt big, but its fur glowed with blue light, as though it was protected by flowing water.

Awooo~

As it moved, droplets cascaded from its paws… When it stepped forward, each movement left faint ripples across the floor!

It was such a beautiful beat!

All the journalists immediately took an interest and used their devices to capture the image…

”What kind of Beast is that?!”

”Itʼs not a Water Sprite, right?”

”Water Wolf?”

”That looks so beautiful!”

”I want something like that too!”

The crowd reacted after seeing how its eyes glowed with a deep azure, and when it growled, the sound carried the weight of rushing rivers!

The crowd gasped. Apparently, a water-type Spirit Beast was rare, even among Spirit Beasts.

Its affinity leans towards resilience, adaptability, and cleansing power. The Summoners who were watching the battle couldnʼt help but envy her a little.

Nejaʼs smirk faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered. His grimoire pulsed, and more swords materialized.

Not just ordinary blades! This time, these were elemental. A flaming longsword hovered beside him, its edge burning with crimson fire.

”Haha! Take this one then!”

A sharp ice blade shimmered with frost. Then, a spear crackled faintly with lightning. Soon, a dozen weapons circled him, each infused with a different element.

With a hand gesture, Neja sent them forward.

The flaming sword streaked toward Cecilia, with its heat distorting the air.

The ice blade followed, leaving a trail of frost.

Lastly, the lightning spear darted like a thunderbolt.

Cecilia raised her hand and cast a spell activated this time…

It was Spirit Shroud!

It was a spell allowing her to create a barrier that enveloped her Spirit Beast, dampening the flames and dispersing the lightning.

Thud!

The blade struck, but the shroud absorbed the frost, melting it into harmless droplets.

”Go! Destroy that Grimoire!”

With that command, her Spirit Beast charged while water was swirling around its claws. It struck the flaming sword, extinguishing its fire, then turned to shatter the ice blade.

The lightning spear was deflected by a surge of water that burst from its jaws like a torrent.

The crowd erupted in cheers. Cecilia was not only relying on her Spirit Beastʼs strength, she was also using supportive spells to bolster it.

Neja gritted his teeth.

He summoned more blades, this time faster, sharper, and infused with heavier energy!

”Slow!”

Ceciliaʼs grimoire glowed again. She whispered another Spell and her Spirit Beastʼs body glowed. Its movements grew quicker...

She just cast High Haste Spell!

It was a supportive spell that amplified her allyʼs agility and strength.

The wolf moved through the storm of blades with water trailing behind it like flowing rivers. It struck one sword after another, breaking them apart.

Clank! Clank! Clank!

Then, Ceciliaʼs Hawk was released and joined in, swooping down to distract the blades, forcing Neja to split his focus.

Vale watched silently and nodded.

ʼSheʼs calm. Sheʼs using support spells at the right time. This is exactly what I hoped for when I gave her that grimoire.ʼ

Indeed, Cecilia couldnʼt just rely on her Summons. She must support thme thoroughly.

But Neja was not finished. His grimoire pulsed violently, its pages trembling. He hesitated, sweat forming on his brow.

The crowd noticed. Something was wrong.

Then, with a grimace, Neja whispered an incantation he clearly did not want to use. His grimoire grew darker than before.

Then, a single sword emerged and it was unlike the others.

It was long, black, and wreathed in shadow. Its blade seemed alive!

The air grew heavy, and even the other swords vanished, as though bowing to its presence.

The crowd fell silent.

”Hmm? What do we have here?” Vale muttered as he realized what had happened.

ʼA forbidden summon… forced into his grimoire.ʼ

Indeed, this was no ordinary summon.

The truth was that Neja had never chosen this sword. It was not born of his bond, nor granted by his own talent. The principal of Lakrine Academy, desperate to elevate his studentsʼ reputation, had forced a forbidden contract into Nejaʼs grimoire.

The ritual had bound a sentient weapon, a shadowed sword of ancient origin, against its will.

Such practices were dangerous. A grimoire was meant to reflect the summonerʼs soul, but this intrusion had twisted Nejaʼs bond, leaving him with a summon that was super strong but it had an attitude!

Soon, the sword hovered before Neja, and then… it spoke!

”You dare call upon me again, child?” Its voice was deep, echoing across the hall.

Everyone was shocked, but they all remained silent since this wasnʼt something they could easily find before.

Neja flinched. ”I… I have no choice. Fight for me!”

The sword laughed, a chilling sound. ”Very well. But remember… You will pay the price!”

With a sudden surge, the sword shot forward, faster than any of Nejaʼs previous summons. It struck Ceciliaʼs Spirit Beast, forcing it back.

Water splashed across the floor as the beast growled…

Then, Ceciliaʼs grimoire glowed. She cast Healing Stream, a supportive spell that restored her Spirit Beastʼs strength.

Water flowed across its wounds, sealing them instantly. Of course, the beast rose again, snarling at the forbidden sword.

Unexpectedly, the sword actually hovered and its voice was mocking. ”Pathetic. You think water can resist shadow?”

It darted again, slashing at Cecilia herself. She raised her hand, casting Arcane Shield, a defensive spell that formed a wall of Arcane Energy before her.

Boom!

The sword struck, but the barrier held, rippling violently before dispersing the impact.

The crowd gasped. Cecilia was not just supporting her Spirit Beast, she was defending herself directly.

Nejaʼs face twisted in frustration. He tried to command the sword, but it ignored him. Instead, it spoke again.

”You are weak. Why should I obey? Just watch me destroy this thing!” The sword said as it suddenly ignited itself before charging toward the Grimoire that Cecilia was holding!
