Help! The Villainess Trapped in the Beast World's Drama!

Chapter 859: Chapter 670: Fox Clan Ancestor (Part 3)

”And—” Before the words were finished, a sharp attack from the Clan Leader suddenly pierced straight in!

Shen Li’s expression shifted slightly, instinctively dodging.

The Clan Leader attacked again, forcing him to defend with offense, wielding a sphere of Fox Fire from his palm.

The moment the Clan Leader saw the Fox Fire, his eyes changed, quickly forming a force to trap the fire, as if capturing some evidence.

He looked deeply at Shen Li, ”In today’s Divine Fox Clan, there is no such flame as yours! Nor the Destructive Fire!”

Shen Li paused.

He hadn’t expected the Clan Leader to recognize the Destructive Fire.

Before coming to the Divine Fox Clan, he had gathered a lot of information, but there was one point that puzzled him: there were very few Fire Element Beastmen in the Divine Fox Clan, and their power was generally mediocre, with many being of mixed blood.

This was indeed strange, but it was unrelated to his purpose, so he hadn’t delved deeper.

Now, listening to the Clan Leader’s words, it seemed there was another hidden story behind this.

The Clan Leader saw the defense and doubt flash in the young man’s eyes and voluntarily withdrew his hand, ”Alright, I was just testing you.”

”Judging by your reaction, you probably don’t know the stories of your ancestors either.”

Shen Li also noticed the Clan Leader hadn’t acted seriously and politely withdrew his hand, ”Clan Leader, please speak straight; if you explain clearly, I can answer what you want to know.”

”You are indeed cautious. Alright, I’ll tell you; you are definitely not a hybrid of Red Fox and our clan’s Beastmen.” The Clan Leader said sternly, ”The Destructive Fire you possess is originally the power of our clan’s supreme pure-blooded Fire Fox!”

Shen Li frowned silently, listening as the Clan Leader continued, ”You went to great lengths to come to the clan and participate in this trial, you must have investigated beforehand that our Fire Element Beastmen are now scarce and of ordinary strength.”

”This is exactly because thousands of years ago, the strongest branch of Fire Element Beastmen all left the clan.”

”And that strongest branch of the Divine Fox Clan is very likely your ancestors.”

A trace of surprise flashed through Shen Li’s heart as he recalled the history books of the Yiyuan Empire, trying to connect them with the Clan Leader’s words, but found no corresponding records.

However, he and the Divine Fox Clan Beastmen were naturally born with Nine-tailed Bodies, seemingly of the same lineage.

Shen Li, ”Could the Clan Leader explain in detail what’s going on?”

The Clan Leader sighed lightly, ”I don’t know the specifics either; it’s only known through ancient legends.”

”Thousands of years ago, there seemed to have been a disagreement within the Divine Fox Clan. Unable to resolve it properly, eventually, a branch of the people left—your ancestor.”

”It’s said he was a Ten-tailed Heavenly Fox, and at that time, many clan members supported him, with Fire Fox Beasts especially respecting him.”

”His departure not only took away his own family but also took the clan’s strongest branches of the Fire Element aristocratic families.”

”Since then, for thousands of years, no one knew where they went, and he was never seen again... Some say, they left this land.”

The old Clan Leader looked at Shen Li and slowly said, ”If I remember correctly, the Ten-tailed Fire Fox who left had the surname Ji and possessed the world’s strongest Destructive Fire.”

”The flames you just displayed are exactly like the legendary Destructive Fire.”

He said with certainty,

”You are of the Ji Family.”

With the Clan Leader pointing it out so clearly, Shen Li had no reason to pretend any longer.

”I didn’t expect the Clan Leader to know so much; then I won’t hide it either. I indeed come from the Ji Family lineage.” Shen Li raised an eyebrow and asked, ”But why didn’t others recognize me?”

The Clan Leader said, ”So many years have passed, and moreover, it was unpleasant back then. Divine Fox Clan ancestors also intentionally erased this history, with only fragmentary ancient books and oral stories containing little record.”

”I also stumbled upon this information, with just a half-understanding; other clan members are even less aware of this millennia-old story.”

After speaking, the Clan Leader looked at Shen Li with relief, ”I never expected that after thousands of years, a member of the Ji Family would return.”

Shen Li remained silent.

Since he was young, he had memorized the history books of the Yiyuan Empire but never remembered this record.

But on careful thought, although the Yiyuan Empire has thousands of years of history, there has never been an ancient record mentioning events from thousands of years ago, nor has anyone mentioned where the ancestors of the Ji Clan and other Nine-tailed Fox families truly originated.

Unexpectedly, the root was actually in the Divine Fox Clan.

In this light, the old Clan Leader’s words do match.

The Clan Leader’s words probably aren’t false.

He said sincerely, ”Thank you, Clan Leader, for telling me these things; I indeed didn’t know these secrets.”

The Clan Leader said warmly, ”We are all one family, no need to be courteous.”

The tone carried a hint of longing, ”Since your ancestors left, the Divine Fox Clan lost the crucial Fox Fire and has not been as prosperous as before.”

”Now that you’ve returned, I, on behalf of the whole clan, welcome you... Perhaps I can also wait for the day when the Divine Fox Clan is whole and returns to its peak.”

Later, the two talked a lot more, and Shen Li learned more about his ancestors.

With this, he no longer needed to act out the farce of ”a mixed-blood recognizing his ancestry.”

He was originally a member of the Divine Fox Clan, a true pure-blooded Nine-tailed Divine Fox.

”In a few days, I’ll choose a suitable day and officially announce you as the successor.” The Clan Leader poured him a cup of tea and smiled warmly, ”Try some, it’s good tea I’ve grown myself.”

”Thank you, Clan Leader.” Shen Li took it and drank it all.

They talked some more, and as it got late, the old Clan Leader let him go rest in preparation for the upcoming inheritance ceremony.

Shen Li stood and walked to the door, suddenly his vision went black, his body swayed, instantly losing strength, and he collapsed on the ground.
