Help! The Villainess Trapped in the Beast World's Drama!

Chapter 727: Chapter 622: Points Ranking List_2

Qin Han’s ears grew slightly hot, his Adam’s apple bobbing lightly.

The female in front of him was too beautiful, and on top of that she was putting on this soft, naive look. No male could withstand it... even someone like him, who’d fought and killed on the Wasteland for years, was finding it hard to hold out.

A female this stunning shouldn’t be without a mate.

What a pity.

Her mate was probably already gone.

Qin Han couldn’t help thinking about Xun Fu’s future. Having lost her superpower, with no team or tribe to shelter her, a face that stood out too much would only bring disaster. Once she fell into the hands of some Beastman with ulterior motives, she would very likely end up as nothing but a tool for venting desire and breeding.

It’d be better to just let her stay in the team.

At least he could protect her.

That budding sense of pity made Qin Han subconsciously treat her as half one of his own, so he started explaining, ”Then I’ll start from the ground under our feet. This is the Wasteland Zone—radiation and pollution everywhere, and monsters mutated by the harsh environment.”

He sat cross-legged, one leg propped up, his arm resting on his knee. ”This is the harshest region on the planet. Eighty percent of the land is Wasteland—that’s also where the vast majority of us live.”

Inside, Shen Tang felt like a storm had been unleashed. This Wasteland Zone was equivalent to the Polluted Land on the Beast World Continent, but the coverage was actually this huge! A full eighty percent of the land polluted—what a terrifying proportion!

She sat down with him and murmured, ”A place this awful isn’t suitable for Beastmen to live in at all. If you stay here long-term, your bodies will be affected too, right?”

Qin Han let out a low chuckle, turning his head to look at the strange-colored ”glow” that flickered in the distance. His hand, wrapped in white bandages, held a stone that he suddenly crushed, his voice turning colder. ”We don’t have a choice. We were born in the Wasteland Zone. This is the fate of most commoners. It’s the Purgatory we can’t escape from.”

Shen Tang frowned lightly.

She hadn’t expected the Beastmen of the Alien Star to also be unable to escape the Polluted Land, and their situation was even more severe than on the Beast World Continent.

Could this be the reason they invaded other continents?

Because they couldn’t survive on their own planet anymore, they had to look for a new home?

”Those Mutant Species aren’t even edible. You go deep into the Wasteland to hunt them just to earn points?” Shen Tang recalled what Yuna had mentioned.

Qin Han nodded. ”Hunting Mutant Species is the only way commoner Beastmen can get points. Only by saving up enough points can we exchange for supplies, daily necessities, and precious food. It’s our only way to stay alive.”

For survival resources, commoners had no choice but to keep pushing deeper into the dangerous Wasteland Zone, again and again. Countless people died because of this.

To die in order to live.

That was probably the cruelest, and also the saddest thing in this world.

Qin Han’s small team was relatively lucky. The members were strong, with both offense and defense covered, and they even had a rare Healing System Beastman. Over the years they hadn’t lost anyone, and they’d saved up quite a lot of points.

After he finished speaking, he clapped his hands and stood up, saying to Shen Tang, ”You should get some sleep too. I’ll stand watch here.”

”Okay. Good night, Captain～”

”Good night.”

Three hours later, it was still dark, but the team had no choice except to set off again, rushing toward the nearest shelter.

The commoner Beastmen struggling to survive in the Wasteland Zone had built crude settlements, the so-called ”shelters.”

They were mostly located at the edges of the Wasteland Zone, where the pollution level was lower and the number and rank of Mutant Beasts were both small, making them easier to clear out and relatively safer.

Many weaker females lived in the shelters long-term, relying on their Beast Husbands fighting outside to trade points for their livelihood.

After another day and night of bloody fighting, the team finally reached their destination.

This shelter was very small, and its conditions were worse than the one Shen Tang had stayed in back in the Polluted Land. By her estimation there were only about a hundred Beastmen here—not even on par with a small, remote tribe.

But the Beastmen here were extremely strong; there were almost none below Eighth Rank.

Just this small group, if formed into an army, could practically sweep everything on the Beast World Continent.

Yet here, they were just a tiny fraction of the countless bottom-tier commoners in the Wasteland Zone—the cheapest ”consumables” on this planet.

Shen Tang’s expression stayed calm, but inside she was deeply shaken.

If the bottom-tier commoners were this strong, how powerful did the people at the top have to be?

She saw even more clearly now just what kind of opponent the Beast World Continent had been up against.

And the fact that the continent had won that war was almost a miracle.

The Alien Beastmen they’d met along the road were not only strong, they all shared another trait: most of them were very young, basically in their peak fighting age of twenty to thirty. People over forty were rarely seen.

Shen Tang subconsciously asked, ”Where are the old people in the shelters?”

Yuna glanced at her like she was an idiot, folding her arms with a cold snort. ”What old people? Once you’re past your prime years, eight or nine out of ten die in the Wasteland Zone! Even if they’re lucky enough not to die out there, if they don’t have enough points to exchange for food, they’ll just starve to death at home, or get tossed out by the shelter as trash or bait.”
