A Star Reborn: The Queen’s Return

Xia Ling was stunned. She did not expect him to say this.

She had brought in a lot of revenue for Imperial Entertainment all these years. Even though the Pei family despised her background, they valued her money-making abilities. She was a global Diva… Xia Ling mocked at herself. She was just a tool to them.

A money-making tool, a childbearing tool…

She mocked. “Granduncle, thanks for the compliment.”

“Don’t call me Granduncle.” Pei Zhenyuan looked at her with disdain. Why was it her of all people? An illicit child always led to the fall of families; he would never allow him to be born!

Xia Ling ignored him and muttered, “What’s the point of keeping me in Imperial Entertainment? Are you not afraid that I’ll announce our relationship to the world? You do know how many fans I’ve got, the uproar that I can cause will destroy the Pei family. Why go to this extent? Let me go.”

It was Feng Kun’s idea for her to utter these words. She prayed that it would work.

Pei Zhenyuan frowned. He did not expect this simple-minded girl to be daring enough to threaten him. Nonetheless, her words were effective. She did have a very strong global influence—all she had to do was to appeal to her fans and the Pei family would have to pump in an incredible amount of resources to clear this scandal. And if there were other competitors that wanted to use this against them…

It really was troublesome.

Xia Ling looked at him. “Are you done considering?”

Since he did not like her calling him Granduncle, she was happy not to do so as well. In the past, she respected him only on Pei Ziheng’s account. Now that they were no longer together, there was no need to keep up this meaningless facade.

Pei Zhenyuan said calmly, “Time is precious, go for the procedure first. I will consider your suggestions and give you an answer after it.”

Xia Ling thought about it and said, “Will do.”

She had to go through with the abortion, whether or not he would eventually agree to let her go after this. She followed the nurses to complete the pre-operation check-up…

As she walked past the corridor, she saw a poster on abortion on the wall.

A tiny fetus was in the womb. A plier inserted was clipping its hands and legs, crushing them into fragments of a bloodied mess like clearing rubbish out of the womb. Her stomach started cramping and her face turned white. Dizziness started to engulf her.

Was the life in her abdomen going to face the same outcome?

Suddenly, tears started to fill her eyes.

The accompanying nurse said, “Don’t be upset. It would be more painful to go through with the pregnancy. You only have yourself to blame for not being careful. If you didn’t want it, why didn’t you use protection?”

After hearing this, more tears started flowing. It was not up to her to use protection.

Those messy and humiliating days, she had clearly been raped…

Sad memories replayed in her mind. She wanted so much to question Pei Ziheng, “Why did you treat me like this? You never wanted to marry me anyway!” The clinic’s corridor was silent. Only the breeze answered her cries.

After the check-up, she entered the surgery room.

The room was rather empty and cold.

Xia Ling lay on the surgical bed and the doctor secured her legs. She felt helpless and scared, but she was already past the stage of regrets—she had to finish the abortion. She closed her eyes and tried hard not to think about the images she saw along the corridor. She muttered, “I’m sorry, Baby. Please reincarnate into a better family.”

Suddenly, a loud bang could be heard.

The room’s door was barged open and Pei Ziheng yelled, “Stop!”

Before she could react, she felt a sharp pain in her left leg—someone had removed her legs from the support stand and it hit something.

She opened her eyes to see Pei Ziheng’s angry face.

Under the light, he looked massive. His shirt was unbuttoned. She had never seen him like this and thought, Where did he get the news from? This child… is it really so important to him?

The entire medical crew was in a fluster.

The nurses shouted, “Who are you? Get out!”

Pei Ziheng stared down at them. “I am Pei Ziheng. Touch my woman again and I’ll show you death’s door!” He was like a beast that could tear people apart in a moment’s notice.

The medical crew backed off.

Pei Ziheng. It was a name they only saw in the news. Given that Xia Ling was the one going through with the procedure, it was logical for the director of Imperial Entertainment, Pei Ziheng, to be here. The medical crew did not want to be involved with him any further, every one of them stood away from him and gave him space.

Pei Ziheng wrapped her in the blanket and carried her out.

Xia Ling struggled. “Let go of me!”

Pei Ziheng ignored her cries and walked through the corridor with Chu Chen and his bodyguards.

At the end of the corridor, Pei Zhenyuan brought a gang of people and stopped them in their tracks. “Idiot!” Pei Zhenyuan pointed at Pei Ziheng. “Put her down now!”

Pei Ziheng looked at his granduncle coldly. “This is the first and last time. Don’t let me see Xiao Ling in trouble again—else, you will no longer be my granduncle.”

His deadly intent scared even Pei Zhenyuan.

In the moment of blurred tension, Pei Ziheng had already walked out.

Pei Zhenyuan regained his composure and ordered. “Stop him!” But it was too late. Pei Ziheng brought enough men to easily break through Pei Zhenyuan’s blockade.

Back at the hospital, Pei Ziheng got the doctor to do a full body check up on Xia Ling. After confirming that she was fine, he was finally at ease. But Xia Ling was not done venting her anger on him. “Pei Ziheng, you animal! I’m not going to give birth to a child for you! Never!”

Pei Ziheng looked solemn as he tied her to the bed and turned around to leave.

He was afraid he would hit her.

Xia Ling was still shouting at the top of her lungs. She cried and screamed, but slowly became tired and quietened down.

The door of the ward was pushed open. Chu Chen stepped in. “Tired? Do you want some water?”

Xia Ling looked at him and screamed, “You are all the same!”
