A Star Reborn: The Queen’s Return

Gu Lin finally realized what Gu Yao was trying to do. That’s right, she grew up with Brother Lei, and they were made for each other. That bitch was just jealous! Gu Lin felt that her brother was making very much sense and almost fooled herself into believing that Xia Ling indeed had wanted to slap her earlier. Hence, she covered her face and pretended to cry. “Ye Xingling, I didn’t even blame you for coming between me and Brother Lei… and you wanted to slap me when we bumped into each other today?”

Xia Ling stared at their combined act incredulously. What rubbish was this?

The onlookers started to whisper to each other. “Oh, so that’s the whole story… I’ve long heard that the Gu and Li families are really close. It is extremely likely that Gu Lin and Big Boss Li did grow up together… so Ye Xingling was the third wheel that came between them.”

“Yeah… and I was feeling such pity for her. So, she’s just the third wheel.”

The onlookers started to give Xia Ling looks of disdain.

“Miss Gu, where are you getting your confidence from?” Xia Ling cold voice rang out. “Your families are close, yes, that I admit. But that doesn’t mean that Li Lei likes you. If he did like you, why would he choose to announce that someone like me, with no background and no status, was his girlfriend, and never referred to you as his girlfriend before?”

“That’s because you are unscrupulous!” Gu Lin pointed angrily at her. “You are the one that seduced Brother Lei and came between us!” Before Xia Ling had appeared, Gu Lin thought her relationship with Li Lei was great and would always give little gifts to Li Lei and beg for him to take her out to play. Li Lei would usually not decline her pleas.

However, when Xia Ling appeared, everything changed.

Her Brother Lei refused to play with her anymore, saying that he wanted to avoid misunderstandings and would not accept her small gifts anymore, making her feel sad. Now, she was going to make Xia Ling pay for all of this, sure that Xia Ling was the root of all her problems!

Xia Ling looked at Gu Lin like she was a joke. “You really like Li Lei?”

Gu Lin was slightly taken aback but responded in a loud voice. “Of course!”

Xia Ling said, “Are you sure you even like him? Do you understand him? In your eyes, is he someone whose views can be affected by just any woman? You say that I seduced him… what makes you think I can even do that? Hur Hur, do you just think too highly of me… or think too lowly of you Brother Lei?”

Her sentence was poignant and pointed but left no room for rebuttal.

Gu Lin was at a loss for words on hearing this, and her eyes reddened. “Ye Xingling, you’re being too much!”

Seeing that his sister was again at the losing end, Gu Yao backed her up. “Ye Xingling, why do you deserve to like Li Lei then? For someone as aggressive as you, if you hadn’t used any schemes, why would Brother Lei fall for you? Everyone here, you can be the judge…” He pointed at Xia Ling and looked around at the crowd, saying loudly, “This woman has just been dumped by Li Lei and then is here trying to seduce me. Her advances were thwarted by my sister, and in her anger, she wanted to slap my sister, taking out both her grievances about her past relationships and her current embarrassment! This bitch over here…. does she even deserve to be living on this earth?!”

The discussions broke out all around again.

Oh my God, this was a huge piece of news. Was there really such a backstory? Ye Xingling had found a new target immediately after being dumped by Li Lei, and could hardly wait to throw herself at Gu Yao seeing that he was loaded as well?

Unfortunately, he did not want her and was upset that she bullied his sister. This Ye Xingling must have hit a wall and was feeling embarrassed.

“What’s wrong with the entertainment circle these days? What kind of bad environment is there?” A wealthy lady, who was holding onto the arm of her husband, shook her head as she sighed, a look of disdain across her face.

Some of the men that were looking on were checking Xia Ling out silently. Tsk tsk, so this little star was “that kind” of person… look at her body… and her face… they weren’t particularly pretty, but there was something attractive about them. And she used to be Big Boss Li’s girl, something was appealing about that as well…

Many of the men were making plans to have a good “chat” with her when the opportunity arose.

Xia Ling felt uncomfortable under the myriad of glances that came her way, and the fire within her burned even more. “Gu Yao, stop pinning things on me that I have never done!” She was still in Gu Yao’s death grip and used all her might to shake free of him, but failed. She turned to look at the security guards and said, “Please get him to let go of me!”

The security guards had come over to make peace, but hearing Gu Yao’s words, they too thought that Xia Ling was just a shameless woman. Perhaps she had indeed failed in her advances and got into a conflict with Gu Yao, and that’s why she was now being held hostage for it? This kind of woman needed to be taught a lesson.

As such, the security guards mumbled something in agreement but did not make a move.

Having to suffer such insults in front of the crowd made Xia Ling so angry that she was close to tears. She took a deep breath and told herself to keep calm. She needed to think of a way to end this joke. Yet, her trembling body gave away how upset she was inside.

No girl would be able to keep calm in the face of such insulting accusations!

Seeing that Xia Ling was shaking with anger, Gu Lin was no longer angry and started to smile happily. “My brother is right! You were the one that wanted to seduce him, and everyone here can be witness to that. I’m going to tell Brother Lei what happened today, to let him know what a shameless woman you are! Someone that’s willing to bend over backward for money… Brother Lei will hate you even more after hearing this!”

Gu Lin thought to herself that this idea was perfect, and felt her mood lifting even more.

Xia Ling was tempted to rip the smile off her face but knew that it was more important at this point to get herself free from Gu Yao’s hands. Given that she could not break free using her own strength, she did not think too much before lifting her leg and aimed a kick at Gu Yao’s crotch!

Gu Yao gave a yelp in pain, and let go of her hand as he fell to the floor.

Everyone that was looking on exclaimed in shock, and several security guards rushed forward to help him up. “Master Gu! Master Gu, are you alright?!” Gu Yao’s status was known to everyone, and watching him being kicked right in the crotch… the security guards did not dare think about the consequences if anything were to be wrong with Gu Yao.

The remaining security guards surrounded Xia Ling.

Gu Yao rolled on the floor, howling out in pain.

Gu Lin looked on helpless and shock. What should she do? She had never experienced something like this before.

The onlookers became more excited at seeing this scene pan out. Seeing Gu Yao’s predicament, some of the men that were having lustful thoughts about Xia Ling felt a little tinge of pain at the same spot that Gu Yao was kicked at. This bitch was so vicious… looks like if they wanted to get their way with her, they would need to be careful of her kick…

Xia Ling was unaware that these men were letting their minds wander in their lustful desires.

Feeling her wrist free from the death grip, she did not want to remain here any longer. She turned and made to walk away.

However, the security guards blocked her way. “Miss Ye, please stay here. You can’t just leave like that after kicking someone. Please cooperate as we check on Master Gu’s injury.” If there was anything wrong with Gu Yao, they could not bear the responsibility for Xia Ling if they let her go.

Xia Ling’s gaze was cold. “What now? When I was being bullied you guys just looked on. Now that I had to defend myself, you want to keep me here?”
