“Yes, I’m lying.” Xia Ling was suddenly irritated. “It’s only a few sets of clothes. Why do you have to investigate this so thoroughly? Li Lei, I will wear whatever I like. Give me some personal space.”

Li Lei looked at her sorrowfully. “You are not even willing to tell me the truth now?” He painstakingly bought her a gift and drove her around as much as she needed. Even Su Tang said that he had done enough. He really could not think of anything else that a girl could want from her boyfriend. However, he was still insecure and felt that Xiao Ling was very distant from him. She never asked him for anything, never requested for gifts from her boyfriend like other girls, never asked him to stay by her side or anything else. It was as if no matter what he did or did not do, she did not care at all.

Su Tang said that a woman only acted so coldly when she did not love a man.

This sentence terrified Li Lei.

He tightly grabbed Xia Ling. “You sound so self-confident even when you’re lying to me. Do you really consider me your boyfriend? Is it because of Pei…”

“No!” She hurriedly interrupted him and pushed him away hard.

Li Lei looked at her. His thin lips were closed tightly, not making a sound.

Xia Ling was furious and sneered. “Stop accusing him everytime something happens! Let’s go. Don’t you want to give me a gift? Don’t you want to see me wearing the clothes you bought? Let’s go to the mall now and buy ten sets of clothes!”

He silently looked at her for a long time before bringing her downstairs.

They went to the shopping mall. It was in the best part of the city, but there were few customers, and it was very peaceful and quiet. The first shops they saw when they entered were of a prominent brand, a variety of concept stores and flagship stores. The retail assistant was elegant, and her face was polite with a welcoming smile.

Li Lei said, “Choose anything you like.”

Xia Ling scanned the shops and knew that the things they were selling were expensive, so she did not want to use too much of his money. He was her boyfriend, but she did not want to owe him anything. Moreover, as Xia Ling slowly regained her senses, she felt that this argument was ridiculous and meaningless. She genuinely wanted to reconcile with him, so she said, “You can choose for me. I’m fine with anything.”

However after Li Lei heard that, it was proof to him that she did not care at all.

Did she really value the gifts that he gave her? Was she not picky because they did not matter to her?

Li Lei’s voice was laced with anger. “Didn’t you say that you liked the style of the items I sent you? If I choose again, you may say you don’t like them and use this as an excuse not to wear what I give you!”

“You!” Xia Ling never thought that he would say something like that, and it hurt her a little.

He narrowed his eyes and looked at her.

“Alright, alright.” Xia Ling was starting to become angry again and completely abandoned the thought of reconciling with him. “You want me to choose, Li Lei? Don’t regret it!” Before he could reply, she rushed into the nearest women’s clothing store without looking at the brand and pulled out three or four pieces of clothing. “This one, this one, and this one… Except these three, help me pack the rest up!”

“Miss,” The retail assistant was shocked. “the clothes we sell here are all…”

“What? Do you think I can’t pay for them?!” Xia Ling was burning with rage and wanted to argue with her. “Can you use your eyes better? Do you not see that there is a wealthy person behind me? Ask him for the money!”

The retail assistant looked at her and Li Lei and finally fixated her eyes on Li Lei, looking for some confirmation.

“Pack them all.” Li Lei lightly said.

The retail assistant suspiciously asked him to foot the bill. In a short while, she brought over the credit card machine and the receipt. “This gentleman, the total is $760,800.”

Li Lei directly gave her his card.

The retail assistant finally let out a smile. She quickly swiped the card and asked Li Lei to sign the bill. Suddenly, she became very welcoming. “Both of you, please wait for a while. I will wrap the clothes up now.”

Xia Ling was left alone with Li Lei.

“Continue.” He said with a sting in his tone. “You don’t need to save my money. You already said that I was a wealthy person.”

Xia Ling was triggered by what he said and became even angrier. Alright, since he wanted to spend money so much, she would fulfill his request. Besides, it was not her card she was using. He did not even feel bad about spending the money, so why was she feeling guilty?! Xia Ling turned her head and went straight into the second store. This time, she did not pick anything. She directly told the retail assistants to pack everything for her. Li Lei, who was following behind her, only swiped his card and paid the bill. He just looked at her blankly as she wasted his money.

The third store, the fourth one…

Xia Ling ran from one store to another store. As long as she saw that the store was selling women’s clothing, she would enter it and buy everything without choosing anything. This mall was filled with famous luxury brands. After she had swept two floors, the manager heard the news, quickly located them, and eagerly attended to them personally. In the presence of a group of smiling faces, Xia Ling’s anger gradually faded. Furthermore, no matter how much money she squandered, Li Lei was always willingly paying the bill without any excitement, looking like he did not care at all.

It was as if it did not hurt him at all.

After they had swept a few more stores, Xia Ling lost her enthusiasm and stopped.

Li Lei coldly asked, “Are you done causing trouble?”

That tone almost compelled Xia Ling to continue splurging again on impulse.

“Li Lei, don’t you look at me with that expression!” She turned her head around and yelled at him. “Don’t you only have your pathetic money? What’s so impressive about that? How much can clothes from a few stores set you back? In the past, I…” She shut her mouth. In the past, she was a billionaire, but now, she could not even afford a piece of clothing here.

In a rage, she turned her body and walked away. However, he grabbed her before she could move.

“Let go!” she screamed.

“Both of you.” The store manager carefully interrupted. “How should we take care of these clothes? There are too many clothes to carry back home. Should I arrange for a car to deliver them to you?”

Li Lei did not look at him and said to Xia Ling, “Didn’t you say that you have to wear one of them tonight? How about you choose something first and bring it to the styling room.”

Not bothering to look, she randomly took out a wrapped box from a bag and said, “I choose this. Li Lei, let go of me!”

He let go of her and looked at the item in her hand. “Are you sure?”

She lowered her head and looked through the transparent packaging. One look and it seemed that something was not right. She opened it and saw that there was a soft fleece bathrobe with a small rabbit pattern inside. Xia Ling threw back the box in the pile and rummaged through the pile of clothes, trying to randomly find a suitable piece of clothing to wear.

Li Lei looked at her and slowly said, “Ye Xingling, you weren’t even focusing when you were choosing these clothes. However, you’d rather wear them to the music festival than the ones at home that I chose for you. Why?”

Xia Ling stopped rummaging through the clothes. “Li Lei, are you done? Can you just drop this insignificant topic?!”

“Insignificant? If it was really insignificant, why aren’t you willing to answer me?”

“How do you want me to answer you? By painfully crying and admitting my mistake? Or do you hope to find proof that I have someone else in my heart so you can…”

“I never said you had someone else in your heart. Do you personally think that way?”

Xia Ling suddenly stopped talking.

Li Lei quietly looked at her with a painful and sorrowful expression on his face.
