Rebirth of the Godly Prodigal

If there were admirers, there would definitely be haters too.

As a staunch member of the anti-Hong Society, all news of Hong Dali was disagreeable to Lan Jinglong.

Hong Dali was really too popular recently. It was too much. The entire internet was inundated with news of Hong Dali the past couple of months. Starting from Li Nianwei’s concert, up till the recent charitable acts by Hong Dali, the number of reports was uncountable.

There were no issues with the accuracy of these reports, but Lan Jinglong simply found it distasteful.

“Gaining favor by being sensational.” As he closed the web page dismissively, Lan Jinglong made another comment about Hong Dali. “Proclaiming his desire to squander day in, day out. He maintains such a high profile because he wants to be famous. There are people like him all over, but how many of them actually become famous?”

There was an old saying in the Heavenly State: Those closely involved cannot see as clearly as those outside. The reason for Lan Jinglong’s dislike of Hong Dali was evident to all but himself. His deskmate knew why he felt this way and sighed to himself.

His sentiment was understandable.

Who was Hong Dali? He was a famous prodigal in Tianjing City, who went to school in a luxury car costing more than four million. He had numerous followers with him when he went out and all his classmates crowded around him currying favor.

As a student of Tianjing City’s top key high school, Lan Jinglong always despised prodigals who depended on their parents.

He was a top student who had been in the top position of this top key high school for one and a half years. As long as there was an exam, he would definitely be first!

Hong Dali? He was a prodigal who gained favor by being sensational. Lan Jinglong did not deny the fact that he was rich now, but in the future, humph, it might not be so.

Was there not an old saying that said “You do not stay wealthy beyond three generations”? With Hong Dali’s current behavior, in the future, humph, it would be hard to say what would happen.

This sentiment was easily understood. He was like a scholar. Everyone would naturally greet him when they met him and try to get on his good side. When he stepped out into society in the future, he would swiftly rise up the ranks, get a pay increment, and become the general manager, followed by a promotion to CEO. He would marry a fair, rich, beautiful woman and rise to the pinnacle. There would be nothing difficult about it.

Recently, all his classmates kept talking about Hong Dali. Even the class beauty daydreamed about Hong Dali appearing in front of her in a luxury car. He would knock her out with a diamond the size of a fist and drag her away…

How could he tolerate that? In this school, he should be the focal point of his classmates’ attention!

Undoubtedly, what he felt was commonly known as envy, jealousy, and hatred! His entire being was filled with envy!

Absorbed in his thoughts, Lan Jinglong did not even pay attention to the lesson. Suddenly, his deskmate poked his arm and said softly, “Jinglong, what are you thinking about? Quick, see, there’s news about Young Master Dali again!”

Hong Dali? What did he do again?

“What’s there to watch, he’s just a prodigal.” Whenever he mentioned the word “prodigal”, Lan Jinglong felt especially proud of himself. He was a top student while Hong Dali was just a prodigal who depended on his parents. He had a hundred thousand reasons to despise him!

“No, this seems a little different…” his partner muttered. Right then, the class beauty Ji Rouxuan suddenly exclaimed, “Young Master Dali actually pretended to be a beggar!”

After the exclamation, all the students who had just finished the evening revision class got curious. They started talking at the same time. “Young Master Dali pretended to be a beggar? What’s happening?””Yes, how can Young Master Dali pretend to be a beggar? He is the number one Young Master in our Heavenly State, okay?”

Lan Jinglong could no longer tolerate it. He walked to Ji Rouxuan and lifted his chin up as if to declare something. With disdain thick in his voice, he said, “This prodigal has gone too far this time, right? He squandered all his money and has become a beggar now?” He was just saying it casually. Hong Dali came from a powerful family. Lan Jinglong did not believe that he would become a beggar.

Unexpectedly, the class beauty said, “I do not know what happened either. Look, Young Master Dali has really become a beggar!”

On the smartphone screen was a forum. The post was titled “Young Master Dali turns into a beggar and goes undercover!”

“I knew it would be something to purposely attract attention.” Lan Jinglong was even more disdainful. “Becoming a beggar instead of remaining a prodigal. He’s crazy.”

When he finished talking, he went back to his seat in a huff. It was all because of Hong Dali. The class beauty would not even look at him anymore!

“This…” The class beauty’s curiosity was piqued. Why did Young Master Dali run off to be a beggar instead of enjoying his life as a Young Master? Undercover visit? What was that?

Soon, a classmate exclaimed, “Oh my god, Young Master Dali had such a narrow escape this time! Look, look! The pictures on the internet say that Young Master Dali was shot by someone!”

F**k, this was big!

All his classmates clamored around the smartphone. Lan Jinglong was curious too. “Are they making a movie? No matter what, he should not have been killed by a gun.”

“Found it, found it! This is what happened!” The class beauty suddenly cried out. She read: “Young Master Dali got an actor who resembled him to dress up as himself to distract the media, then he disguised as a beggar and went on an undercover visit! There are pictures of the entire story here. Come see quickly!”

These students all had smartphones, but the video would take up a lot of bandwidth, so they could not watch it. So, all they could do was read the latest news on Hong Dali in the forums.

At that moment, in Hong Dali’s Tieba, there were two sticky posts. The posts had more than twenty million views and more than forty-thousand replies. Of the two posts, one was the video of Dali going on the undercover visit, and the other was a pictorial story of the video.

There were too many visitors to the website, which led to the website loading slowly. So, some netizens who had downloaded the video made screen grabs of crucial events and added image explanations so that everyone could find out what happened first.

This time, when Lan Jinglong finished viewing the story in its entirety, he was completely floored!

From going their separate ways at the beginning to successfully infiltrating the enemy’s lair, Hong Dali’s journey was full of twists and turns. When he found out about the sinister events at He’an Village, Lan Jinglong was completely stunned.

This was more than just being charitable. This was ridding the society of great evil! The implications of this event could not be measured by money. It was no longer something that could be simply said to be good or bad.

At the end, when the number one person in the Heavenly State appeared from the helicopter, Lan Jinglong was completely convinced.

This time, he was convinced beyond a doubt!

The last scene of so many army personnel, soldiers, armed police and urban law enforcers rushing toward him was not something money could buy. Even seasoned actors could not put on such a convincing act!

Furthermore, the number one person in the Heavenly State was there in person. All these proved beyond a doubt that it was all real!

There was actually such a dark place in the Heavenly State.

Young Master Dali was really doing things for the good of the common people.

Young Master Dali was not gaining favor by being sensational. He purely liked having fun, liked animals, and liked helping people.

Everything was just so simple. Young Master Dali had no need to sensationalize himself to gain attention.

The number one person in the Heavenly State stood behind him, expressing full support. In that case, he had no more reservations…

“Convinced, I’m really convinced…” When he had finished viewing the entire story, Lan Jinglong took a deep breath and leaned back in the chair. He smiled and shook his head. “From now onwards, I am Young Master Dali’s loyal fan! Whoever dares to talk bad about him, I will be the first to disagree!”

“Jinglong, what are you thinking about?” The class beauty Ji Rouxuan rolled her eyes at Lan Jinglong. The tender gaze of the young girl made his heart beat faster. When they heard the class beauty calling out, everyone in the class turned to look at Lan Jinglong.

This legendary top scholar had always been disdainful of Hong Dali. Everyone was curious as to what Lan Jinglong would say this time.

“Ah, nothing.” In front of all his classmates, Lan Jinglong finally stopped being stubborn. Right then, he smiled as brightly as the sun. “From now onwards, I am the Young Master’s loyal fan!”

…

At 8 PM that evening, there were countless messages on the Internet cheering for Hong Dali. Countless people hoped that the video could be further processed. They also said that if the video was adapted into a movie, they would definitely watch it!

Xinhai Weibo—

Weibo Friend One: “If this video could be turned into a movie, I would definitely go and watch it. I almost didn’t get to watch ‘The Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre: Pugilistic World’ produced by the Young Master. Out of desperation, I finally watched a pirated copy. I have to say I regretted it. I wish to tell the Young Master that I will forever owe him one movie ticket.”

Weibo Friend Two: “This video is simply too well made. Every character is played by the actual person. Even the best actors cannot create such realistic effects. In my heart, you are a superstar. You are definitely in the first place!”

Weibo Friend Three: “…”

Weibo Friend Four: “…”

In the Turkey Software, everyone greeted their family and friends with a question about Dali’s undercover visit—

“Eh, have you watched Young Master Dali’s latest video? It’s like a movie, it’s great!”

“I saw it, I saw it. I watched it from beginning to end. It was fantastic! Young Master Dali is really great. Damn, there are so many shady plots in such a small village. Luckily Young Master Dali was there!”

“Yes, our number one person is also great. He apologized to the villagers personally. I almost cried watching that!”

“That’s right!”
