Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Without a doubt, no matter how unbelievable it seemed...

At this moment, through Lin Yu’s planning, they had indeed obtained the proof needed to clear the level.

To complete the game, they only needed to tear this train ticket and quietly wait for that miraculous special vehicle to arrive.

Chen Zhuo happily prepared to take action while looking at Lin Yu: ”We’re actually clearing the level like this? This has been my easiest dungeon run ever!”

”You really get what you pay for.”

However, apart from Chen Zhuo, the others held their tickets without speaking.

After a long silence, Fu Luo finally sighed and spoke.

”Can I leave first?”

”You still have your Promotion Trial, why not try to complete it—and besides, leaving now isn’t really appropriate,” Lin Yu said calmly. ”We should help each other in difficult times, Mr. Furbollo.”

Only then did Chen Zhuo belatedly realize...

Although they had obtained the proof to clear the level, Lin Yu didn’t seem to plan on leaving just like that.

Li Nian and Wang Yuyang remained silent.

Although Zhu Ming wasn’t an official member of the ’Free Alliance,’ Wang Yuyang and Li Nian understood clearly...

After this dungeon, Zhu Ming joining them was pretty much a done deal.

Zhu Ming had already fulfilled one of the joining conditions, and although encountering Wang Yuyang in this dungeon was accidental, it still met the requirement of ”completing a dungeon simultaneously with two Free Alliance members.”

As for whether they wanted ”Zhu Ming” to join... just the ’Psychological Society’ potential rating of S-level was enough!

So, in their eyes, Lin Yu was already considered one of their own now.

Naturally, they would support Lin Yu’s decision.

Moreover...

Lin Yu’s decision was actually what they had been thinking too.

Seeing that the two cowards Chen Zhuo and Fu Luo seemed confused, Pan Yuqiang explained with a smile.

”Let me explain for our new friend here... Compared to rushing to clear every dungeon, when encountering certain relatively ’safe’ dungeons, or when you already have an ’escape route,’ staying in the dungeon to seek greater benefits is a better long-term choice.”

”I believe no one joined the ’Death Game’ just to survive week by week, so we need to take a long-term perspective.”

”In this current dungeon, we’ve already obtained a means to ’exit’ at any time, two relatively powerful NPCs are on our side—why not try to strive for greater benefits?”

Pan Yuqiang said with a smile.

Of course, she didn’t fully explain one point to these two who hadn’t undergone ’Promotion’—the point that Lin Yu had only recently discovered.

Increasing one’s ”influence” within the dungeon worlds of the ’Death Game’ seemed to inherently benefit players!

In other words, if you simply understood ”benefits” as [items], staying behind might yield gains, but there was also a high chance it could be more trouble than it’s worth.

But if you understood that ”creating influence” itself had benefits, then this action was guaranteed profit without loss.

This was also the main reason Lin Yu chose to stay—he was too eager to know what ”privileges” unlocking at ’First-Tier’ actually were.

”In this current dungeon, we’ve already obtained a means to ’exit’ at any time, two relatively powerful NPCs are on our side—why not try to strive for greater benefits?”

”I understand.”

But Fu Luo said with a bitter face: ”Then why do I have to stay too?”

”If you call the ’special vehicle’ alone first, who knows what variables might occur, and besides, aren’t you quite clever,” Li Nian said impatiently. ”Just follow along peacefully—with so many experts carrying you for free, I really don’t know what more you could want!”

Due to the lingering deterrence of her previous threat, Fu Luo could only nod in agreement.

Thus, after brief negotiations, all players reached a unanimous strategy.

Seeing that no one left after obtaining their tickets, Baron Coleman was initially somewhat surprised.

But being an intelligent man, he quickly found a reasonable ”answer” himself.

”Hah... indeed, you probably went through great efforts to get on this train and sought me out specifically—how could it only be for the method to ’get off’.”

Baron Coleman looked at Lin Yu.

”Although not surprising, as expected you were holding back... tell me your true purpose.”

Lin Yu chuckled lightly.

This light chuckle was partly performing ”having a well-thought-out plan,” but also half genuine ”joy” from successful deception.

The best way to deal with smart people was to let them deceive themselves.

”Our true purpose? Actually, we’re not completely unified—everyone has different goals.”

Due to the lingering deterrence of her previous threat, Fu Luo could only nod in agreement.

Saying this, Lin Yu walked to the back of the group and pulled Fu Luo forward.

”His Lordship the Baron is asking about our true purposes... you go first!”

Lin Yu patted Fu Luo’s shoulder and lowered his voice.

”Don’t lie to this guy.”

Fu Luo reacted extremely quickly, soon understanding Lin Yu’s purpose.

Staying was to strive for ”benefits,” but how to ”strive” actually required taking things step by step.

But Fu Luo’s goal was the clearest and most specific, and he also knew the Truth Corporation best.

So, him speaking first was most appropriate.

”Although not surprising, as expected you were holding back... tell me your true purpose.”

Since he couldn’t escape anyway, he might as well take a gamble.

Coincidentally—this train did contain the mystery he was most interested in.

This light chuckle was partly performing ”having a well-thought-out plan,” but also half genuine ”joy” from successful deception.

As Fu Luo spoke, Baron Coleman looked at him.

”An interesting reason, but it seems to be true.”

”Your employer’s identity... never mind, you probably can’t say, and I can’t be bothered to guess—it’s undoubtedly one of the few prominent figures in Sleepless City.”

Baron Coleman said this while waving his hand.

Fu Luo responded to the confident Baron Coleman with a smile, silently grumbling in his heart.

”It’s really not any of the people you know.”

After all, the issuer of this ”commission” was the system.

After Fu Luo stated his needs, Li Nian also clarified her thoughts.

She stepped forward.

”I just heard that this ’Despair Train’ has many of Truth Corporation’s new gadgets—many concept machines and prototypes get transported here.”

”As I said earlier, I’m a ’Thief’—and one whom everyone kindly calls a ’Master Thief.’”

”As the saying goes, ’a thief never leaves empty-handed,’ Your Lordship the Baron—having come to such a great place, I don’t want to leave with nothing!”
