Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 235: Chapter 235 Father is Still Alive

Ye Qingchen looked at Elder Yang’s smugness with disgust. However, his Willow Wood Martial Soul was still three or four meters away from Elder Yang, nowhere near close enough to attack and bind him.

As his strength improved, the innate binding skill of his Willow Wood Martial Soul had been enhanced once more. To ensnare Elder Yang without him noticing, however, he needed a bit more time to close the distance.

Without a change in his expression, Ye Qingchen spoke to Elder Yang in a cold voice, ”I can sign a non-aggression contract. But as for submitting to you, kowtowing, and admitting my wrongs—that’s something I can’t do!” As he spoke, he was already maneuvering his Willow Wood Martial Soul underground, steadily closing the distance between them.

Upon hearing Ye Qingchen’s words, Elder Yang grew even more triumphant. His main goal was to survive, and he had feared Ye Qingchen would go back on his word. However, once a Soul Contract was signed, anyone who broke it would be spurned by the heavens and earth, doomed to eternal damnation! Ye Qingchen’s willingness to sign the contract was proof enough that his hands were tied. Elder Yang now felt completely safe.

Overjoyed, Elder Yang taunted Ye Qingchen, ”You people from the Ye Family are all cowards. It reminds me of Ye Changqing, whom we met in the Qingyun Mountain Range years ago. He found an Ironwood Soul Flower for his son, but when our master and the Li Family Head, Li Zhe, threatened him with his son’s life, he chose to compromise! Not only was the Ironwood Soul Flower stolen, but he nearly lost his life. He was eventually taken away by my master, and after being squeezed dry of all value, he was sold to a sect to become a mine slave.”

Elder Yang spoke with self-satisfaction, completely ignoring Ye Qingchen’s face, which paled and flushed with fury.

The moment Elder Yang mentioned the name Ye Changqing, Ye Qingchen’s heart jolted. Even the Willow Wood Martial Soul he was so carefully controlling nearly broke free and revealed itself.

All this time, Ye Qingchen had believed his father, Ye Changqing, had died in the jaws of a Monster Beast in the Qingyun Mountain Range while searching for the Ironwood Soul Flower for him. Yet now, Elder Yang had inadvertently revealed his father’s whereabouts. The revelation filled Ye Qingchen with both rage and joy. He was joyous that his father was still alive. But he was also enraged that his father had been brutally tortured by the man Elder Yang called master, and had even been sold into slavery to endure untold humiliation!

Just then, Elder Yang noticed the look on Ye Qingchen’s face and said tauntingly, ”What? You know that Ye Changqing?”

”He is my father!” Ye Qingchen said through clenched teeth. If not for his concern over the Supreme Elder’s life, he would have likely exploded in a rage and flayed Elder Yang alive then and there.

”Oh? That fellow is actually your father? Hahaha!” Upon hearing Ye Qingchen’s words, Elder Yang was startled for a moment before breaking into uproarious laughter. With a mocking tone, he continued, ”I’ve changed my mind. You don’t have to kowtow and admit you’re wrong. Just sign a servitude contract, and I’ll consider sparing your Supreme Elder’s life!”

Ye Qingchen hesitated. Signing a servitude contract was absolutely impossible, but his Willow Wood Martial Soul wasn’t ready yet, so he had no choice but to stall for time.

”What’s with the dilly-dallying? Are you signing or not?” Elder Yang, however, was a wily old fox. His earlier taunts had stemmed from the excitement of his narrow escape from death. Now, seeing Ye Qingchen’s hesitation, he immediately struck the Supreme Elder with his palm.

With a pitiful cry, the Supreme Elder spat out mouthfuls of blood, his face instantly turning a deathly pale. He was clearly severely injured.

Seeing Elder Yang actually strike the Supreme Elder, Ye Qingchen’s heart seized with panic and he cried out, ”Fine, I agree!”

Hearing Ye Qingchen’s agreement, Elder Yang grew even more triumphant. ”Like father, like son! Both cowards! I think you two were born to be mine slaves. It’s perfect—you can go keep your old man company. You can even die together in the mines!”

As he spoke, Elder Yang began to channel his Soul Power, preparing to cast the Soul Contract.

Now!

With his Willow Wood Martial Soul finally in place, Ye Qingchen gave a great shout. Instantly, seven or eight vines as thick as a child’s arm burst from the ground, trapping Elder Yang.

”You brat! How dare you trick me! Don’t you care about your Supreme Elder’s life anymore?!” Furious, Elder Yang threw another palm strike, intending to kill the Supreme Elder.

However, another vine shot out from the ground, blocking his attack. More vines followed, wrapping around the Supreme Elder’s body, lifting him into the air, and tossing him over to the other Ye Family members.

Ye Qingchen seized the opportunity to unleash his Leaf Blade Storm on Elder Yang!

Bound by the vines and already wounded, Elder Yang had no way to dodge. He was in no condition to withstand another of Ye Qingchen’s Earth Rank Martial Techniques.

As the Leaf Blades dissipated, Elder Yang lay on the ground, gasping for breath and unable to move.

Ye Qingchen took a Spirit Pill from his storage ring and had the other Ye Family members give it to the Supreme Elder. He then walked over to Elder Yang, sealed the old man’s Dantian with Soul Power, and forced another Spirit Pill into his mouth.

Ye Qingchen certainly wasn’t being kind. He simply had questions for Elder Yang and was using the Spirit Pill to keep him alive just long enough to answer them.

Seeing Elder Yang’s eyes flutter open, Ye Qingchen asked him coldly, ”Who was your master back then? Tell me, and I might still let you live!”

Knowing there was no escape, Elder Yang put on a defiant front, sneering, ”I will never betray my master! If you want to find out where your father is and save him... that’s impossible! Not in this lifetime!”

Ye Qingchen frowned and activated his Dual Pupil Martial Soul to probe Elder Yang’s mind, but strangely, he came up empty. He realized it was highly likely that Elder Yang was a deathsworn servant with a restriction placed on his sea of consciousness, preventing the Dual Pupil Martial Soul from detecting anything.

However, Ye Qingchen already knew that the only person who would dispatch a Ninth Layer Martial Master to assassinate him was Qin Xi of the Rising Sun Pavilion. He thus said coldly, ”If you won’t talk, then fine. Qin Xi sent you to kill me, so I’ll just go find her. If she refuses to talk, I don’t mind raping her before I kill her!”

The previously defiant Elder Yang’s expression changed drastically upon hearing these words.

This is bad. While I was pursuing Ye Qingchen, I already informed Miss Qin Xi that I was about to succeed. She said she would come personally to claim his corpse, which would sicken Qin Yue. At the same time, she planned to exterminate the entire Ye Family to prevent any future trouble!

Unbeknownst to Elder Yang, his every thought had been heard by Ye Qingchen, whose Dual Pupil Martial Soul had been active the entire time.

Ye Qingchen’s pupils contracted. This Qin Xi was utterly venomous! She planned not only to kill him but to wipe out his entire family!

His brows furrowed as he let out a cold chuckle. ”So Qin Xi will be here soon. Excellent. I’ll just lie in wait and give her a surprise!”

Stunned, Elder Yang looked at Ye Qingchen and blurted out, ”You... how did you know that Miss Qin Xi is coming?”

”Save that question for your next life!”

With those words, Ye Qingchen sent a palm strike crashing down upon Elder Yang’s head.
