Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 153: Chapter 153 Li Zongrui Makes His Move

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The thud of the Giant Ape Leader’s fists and the clang of its collisions with Ye Qingchen’s Qingfeng Sword echoed without end! The battle between man and beast was incredibly intense.

Utilizing his Dual Pupil Martial Soul and Mystifying Steps, Ye Qingchen continuously dodged the Giant Ape Leader’s fists, wielding his Qingfeng Sword to its fullest potential.

”Sword Dusting the Wind!” Ye Qingchen roared, unleashing his strongest martial technique toward the Giant Ape Leader’s eyes.

Eyes were a universal vulnerability, and the Giant Ape Leader was no exception. Sensing the tremendous power of this strike, the ape leader dared not be careless. It quickly raised its hands, attempting to block Ye Qingchen’s most powerful blow.

Ye Qingchen had been waiting for this exact moment. As the Giant Ape Leader extended its arms, its abdomen was left completely exposed.

Now!

A jolt of joy went through Ye Qingchen. He had attacked the Giant Ape Leader’s eyes as a feint, forcing it to defend and thereby exposing its vital point for him to strike.

But this was easier said than done. Actually accomplishing it was immensely difficult. If Ye Qingchen didn’t use his full strength, the attack wouldn’t pose a real threat, and the Giant Ape Leader wouldn’t bother defending against it and exposing its vital point. However, unleashing two full-powered attacks in quick succession was something no ordinary person could do.

Moreover, the Giant Ape Leader’s body was massive. Even if Ye Qingchen could unleash his strongest attack twice in a row, he couldn’t possibly strike its eyes and then instantly reach its abdomen. Therefore, while the Giant Ape Leader was wary of Ye Qingchen’s attack, it wasn’t truly afraid.

As expected, when Ye Qingchen’s attack landed, the Giant Ape Leader swept it aside. The impact forced the beast back two steps, but it recovered instantly and slapped Ye Qingchen with its palm.

PFFT!

A spurt of blood sprayed from Ye Qingchen’s mouth as his body rapidly descended from the impact. Bizarrely, despite the mouthful of blood, Ye Qingchen revealed a sinister smile.

”Sword Dusting the Wind!”

As his body plummeted, Ye Qingchen once again unleashed Sword Dusting the Wind, slashing at the Giant Ape Leader’s abdomen. At this point, the Giant Ape Leader had no way to evade and could only let the sword strike home.

Ye Qingchen’s guess was correct. The abdomen was indeed the Giant Ape Leader’s vital point.

Struck by the sword, the Giant Ape Leader let out a heart-rending howl. Its aura began to dissipate rapidly. Howling in pain, it thrashed on the ground, its massive body felling nearby trees and sending dirt and debris flying everywhere.

This was all within Ye Qingchen’s expectations. Getting his attack deflected and then being struck by the Giant Ape Leader was all part of his plan. He had intended to use the rebound force from the Giant Ape Leader’s blow to propel himself closer to its vital point!

His Ice Armor had given him the confidence to try. Moreover, his body, having been tempered by the Fen Tian Earth Fire, was far tougher than his peers. This gave him the confidence to withstand a single blow from the Giant Ape Leader.

Ye Qingchen had been gambling. Given the situation, however, a desperate risk was his only option. The longer the standoff continued, the more disadvantageous his position would become.

Fortunately, his gamble paid off. Watching the Giant Ape Leader wail on the ground, he let out a sigh of relief and consumed a Spirit Pill. After unleashing his full strength twice, even with his substantial spiritual energy, Ye Qingchen felt dizzy.

A side effect of overexertion.

Though the immediate danger had passed, Li Zongrui and Li Susu were still eyeing him predatorily from the sidelines. Ye Qingchen wasn’t naive enough to think Li Zongrui would let him off so easily. Maintaining peak condition was the best strategy for now.

After recovering some spiritual energy, Ye Qingchen once again wielded his Qingfeng Sword and unleashed Sword Dusting the Wind, striking at the Giant Ape Leader.

With its vital point compromised, the Giant Ape Leader’s defensive power was significantly weakened. Previously, Ye Qingchen’s attacks had only left white marks on its tough hide. Now, his sword easily cut through its skin, leaving ghastly wounds. Seeing his attacks finally prove effective, Ye Qingchen felt a surge of joy and continued to press his assault.

But even a wounded tiger is still a tiger. The Giant Ape Leader was, after all, a third-level Grand Martial Master. Despite its severe injuries, Ye Qingchen found it difficult to finish it off quickly.

From a distance, Li Zongrui watched in astonishment. Ye Qingchen had actually gained the upper hand against a third-level Grand Martial Master, knocking it to the ground and repeatedly stabbing it like a training dummy.

This kid... he’s actually this strong!

Li Zongrui had to admit that Ye Qingchen’s combat prowess far exceeded his expectations. At this rate, killing the Giant Ape Leader was only a matter of time.

”Zong Rui, what do we do?” Li Susu asked anxiously. ”That scum Ye Qingchen will kill the Giant Ape Leader in no time! That will be trouble for us.”

Li Zongrui spat on the ground and said fiercely, ”Don’t worry, I’ll deal with him personally. Ye Qingchen must die today!”

With that, Li Zongrui strode toward the battlefield.

Ye Qingchen sensed Li Zongrui’s approach and grew anxious. If Li Zongrui interfered now, the Giant Ape Leader’s formidable recovery speed would allow it to quickly regain its fighting strength. Breaking through its vital point a second time would be impossible!

”Young Sect Master, what is the meaning of this?” Ye Qingchen continued his assault on the Giant Ape Leader, trying to stall Li Zongrui with words.

Li Zongrui snorted coldly, having already arrived before Ye Qingchen. ”Ye Qingchen,” he said with a hostile tone, ”don’t think I’m unaware of the misdeeds you’ve committed in the past. Today is the day you pay for your actions!”

Having decided to act, Li Zongrui didn’t hesitate. While Ye Qingchen was still attacking the Giant Ape Leader, he launched a palm strike at him.

”A third-level Grand Martial Master?” Ye Qingchen exclaimed in shock, narrowly dodging the attack using his Mystifying Steps.

Li Zongrui’s strength as a third-level Grand Martial Master was not the same as the Giant Ape Leader’s. As the Young Sect Master of the Qingyun Sect, the cultivation and martial techniques Li Zongrui practiced were all top-tier. His combat power was definitely far greater than the Giant Ape Leader’s.

Most importantly, while Li Zongrui could be reckless, he was still human. His combat power was absolutely no weaker than the Giant Ape Leader’s, if not stronger.
