A Crusader with System in the Middle Ages

”Bastards, they have more troops! Two reserve units!”

Belem swung his Lance, accurately hitting a King’s Knight, but due to insufficient Power, the King’s Knight only swayed in his saddle. The man quickly grabbed his reins and steadied himself.

William’s two reserve units gradually began to encircle them.

If they couldn’t break through quickly, the Knights trapped inside would almost certainly be wiped out.

Because they had been busy looting the King’s camp, many Knights had dismounted from their Warhorses. Some, to make it easier to grab food, had even tossed aside their Longswords.

William’s sudden attack left them with no time to mount their Warhorses and grab their weapons.

Now, Robert’s Knights were in complete disarray under the attack of the King’s Knights, unable to mount any effective counterattack or defense against William’s reserves.

Therefore, the battle now relied almost entirely on the Knights brought by Eric and Belem.

”Eric, what do we do!?” Belem roared anxiously at Eric.

As he spoke, a Knight to Belem’s side swung a Longsword, slicing off a lock of Belem’s hair and cutting his cheek.

Eric threw a dagger that struck the Knight square in the neck. The man clutched his throat and fell from his Warhorse.

”I’ll find a way to draw the attention of some of the Knights. You take the others and fall back,” Eric said to Belem.

”Are you kidding me? How are you going to draw their attention? We’re surrounded!”

Belem was shocked by Eric’s absurd idea.

”Then I’ll break the encirclement.” Eric snatched the banner from Belem’s Warhorse. Embroidered on it was Belem’s own crest.

To distinguish himself from his father, Roger, Belem had added the crest of the Normandy Clan to the Montgomery Family’s heraldic banner.

”Hey, Eric, this is no time for jokes...”

Belem immediately spurred his Warhorse, intending to stop Eric.

However, a King’s Army Knight quickly broke through the circle of Guard Knights and rushed over, blocking Belem’s path.

’Exchange for Frenzy Potion x2.’

[Requires 3000 Exchange Points. Confirm exchange?]

[Yes.]

Eric pulled two bottles of Frenzy Potion from his storage space, stuffed a mushroom into each, and tossed one to Leif who was nearby.

Leif had no interest in mounted combat, nor had he received any formal Lance training. So, even though he had a Warhorse, he still treated it merely as a mount.

When fighting enemies, he still led his Warband, forming a small shield wall to face the enemy Knights.

Leif caught the potion and looked at Eric, confused.

Eric didn’t respond, simply downing the potion in one go.

An intense heat instantly surged through him, and his heart rate suddenly accelerated.

Blood-red filled the whites of his eyes.

Fatigue vanished instantly, replaced by an unprecedented feeling of power spreading through his body. But immediately after, Eric’s vision was also shrouded in red.

Due to the rising heat, white mist began to pour uncontrollably from Eric’s mouth and nose.

The Frenzy Potion could increase a person’s close-combat power by 150% for a short time. Eric had also added a Berserker Mushroom, which could push a character’s combat stats to the human limit for a brief period.

But it had a time limit. Once it wore off, he would likely fall into a state of severe weakness.

Therefore, he had to achieve his strategic objective within ten minutes: break through the Knights’ encirclement.

Leif glanced at Eric, then, without further hesitation, downed the potion in one gulp.

He immediately felt a distinct change in his body.

Just as Leif was about to ask Eric something, he saw that Eric, who had been beside him a moment ago, had vanished.

But in the next instant, the shriek of a Warhorse ripped across the battlefield.

A Long Spear had somehow pierced straight through one Knight’s abdomen, then continued on to pierce the neck of an unfortunate second Knight, ending his life instantly. It still had enough force to fly onward, accurately tear through William’s banner, and finally embed itself in the dirt.

William’s banner fell.

William himself was so startled he nearly fell from his horse.

The first Knight stared in disbelief at his pierced abdomen before falling from his Warhorse.

A huge amount of blood gushed out. The spray dyed the head of a nearby Warhorse red and blurred its vision. The horse grew agitated, lost control, and began crashing about.

This sudden, dramatic turn of events made the Knights on both sides, who had been in the thick of the fight, freeze for a moment.

No one noticed that a gap had opened in the dense encirclement.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator, Eric, was not in good shape. His right hand trembled uncontrollably, and fresh blood flowed down his arm. It wasn’t someone else’s blood; it was his own. The muscles in his arm had torn open, a terrifying sight, as if they had been split by a blade.

Under the combined effects of the Berserker Mushroom and the Frenzy Potion, his Power had not only exceeded his Level’s limit, but also his body’s physical limit.

Fortunately, the Frenzy Potion had a built-in numbing effect, so the pain was greatly reduced.

”Leif, get on your horse! We’re breaking out.”

Eric dug his spurs hard into his mount. Pained, the Warhorse shot forward toward the gap in the encirclement.

Waving Belem’s heraldic banner, and bolstered by the effects of the Frenzy Potion, Eric struck down several King’s Knights who tried to block his path.

Leif didn’t hesitate. He quickly mounted his horse and charged after Eric.

He then discovered the change in his own body. The War Axe in his hands felt as if it had no weight, as light as a feather.

A casual swing could actually slice through Chain Armor with ease.

Some of Robert’s Knights, desperate to escape the battlefield, almost instinctively followed Eric, preparing to break out of the encirclement.

Some of the King’s Army Knights farther away, completely unaware of what had just happened, fearlessly gave chase.

The commotion Eric created successfully loosened the encirclement formed by the King’s Army Knights, buying Belem the opportunity to retreat.

At this moment, Robert, who had fallen back to the riverbank, was trying to regroup the Flemish Spear Soldiers and the Genoese Crossbowmen.

As Infantry, they had no Warhorses and couldn’t outrun the Knights. Furthermore, since most hadn’t dared to compete with the Knights for the right to loot first, not many had participated in the sacking. Consequently, they had managed to form a shield wall in time and had not suffered many casualties.

Reforming their ranks was a relatively easy matter.

However, the Genoese Crossbowmen, who provided ranged support, were now useless, as their Crossbow Arrows were depleted.

They had lost a lot of supplies during the march over the past few days, including a portion of the Genoese Crossbowmen’s Crossbow Arrows.
