.....

He was feeling a bit upset.

Bai Hemen shot a glare straight at Yu Huai, who was seated next to the Yu Family Head.

Yu Huai didn’t back down, lifting his gaze to meet it.

Their eyes clashed with such intensity, sparks were practically flying.

If Lu Ding and the family head hadn’t kept quiet,

these two would’ve gone at it on the spot.

Beside them, Yu Jun—the Yu family head—sipped his tea while watching Lu Ding.

Lu Ding had just said he needed to talk to Yu Chen about something. They’d been sitting here a while, and Yu Jun had been thinking hard,

but he couldn’t recall Yu Chen leaving the house during this time.

Logically, he shouldn’t have caused any trouble.

Before Yu Jun could ask,

Yu Tao, seated nearby, couldn’t hold it in and asked, “Investigator Lu, what business do you have with my little brother Yu Chen today?”

Yu Tao, the second daughter of the Yu family, also Yu Chen’s second sister.

Lu Ding didn’t hide anything.

He set down his teacup.

“When I was handling business in Minshan City, your brother Yu Chen instigated someone to secretly film 749’s classified operation. According to the Cultivator Management Ordinance—”

“I sentenced him to two months of disciplinary re-education.”

“I’m here to take him in now.”

The room fell silent.

Yu Jun’s grip on his teacup visibly tightened.

“No way.”

Another woman’s voice spoke up.

This time it was the eldest daughter of the Yu family, Yu Zhiyu.

Lu Ding turned slightly to glance at her: “Are you saying I’m falsely accusing him?”

With his voice came an invisible wave of pressure.

Yu Zhiyu struggled to speak: “Can we..... discuss it?”

“You think 749’s laws are negotiable? Or perhaps Miss Yu doesn’t understand the Cultivator Management Ordinance and would like to join him in re-education?”

As he spoke, someone entered from outside.

Yu Chen stepped in, sweeping his gaze across the room before landing on Lu Ding.

“So this is Lu Ding—wait!!!”

That one look—

Yu Chen’s heart jumped.

Why did this guy have the aura of the Sin Dragon?!

Seeing the main subject appear, Lu Ding stood up.

Got straight to the point: “Yu Chen, come with me.”

“Where to?”

Unease was already bubbling in Yu Chen’s chest.

Under any other circumstance, at any other time, he wouldn’t have reacted this way.

But right now, he felt the Sin Dragon’s presence from Lu Ding.

And the Sin Dragon had everything to do with him.

He’d watched the Sin Dragon be slain with his own eyes. So many years had passed—it should’ve been completely gone.

And yet here it was again.

If Lu Ding weren’t with the 749 Bureau, Yu Chen wouldn’t be so anxious. He’d just assume the man got lucky and plan to take it for himself later.

But unfortunately, Lu Ding was 749.

And clearly, he was here for him.

This is what they call a guilty conscience.

In Lu Ding’s ear, Elder Deng’s voice came: “He’s panicking.”

“Sentenced to two months of re-education at 749. You sent someone from the Min Clan Funeral Home to secretly film classified 749 ops, then had Shui Shi come ask me for his release. Provoking 749, multiple offenses combined—a two-month sentence isn’t excessive.”

With that—

Yu Chen understood everything. No wonder Old Shui hadn’t replied.

His face turned grim, the look on his face naturally intense.

“Investigator Lu, what happened to Old Shui?”

“He threatened a 749 investigator and resisted arrest. I killed him on the spot.”

Lu Ding said it casually.

Yu Chen took it all in.

His emotions churned wildly, though he didn’t show it—still, deep inside, he was already filled with hatred.

In the years his cultivation had stagnated at the Yu family, Shui Shi was both a mentor and a protector to him.

And now Lu Ding had casually killed him off!

How could Yu Chen not hate him to the bone?

But he couldn’t show it.

Because he wasn’t strong enough yet.

He could only endure for now and wait for his cultivation to recover—when the time came, he would skin Lu Ding alive!!!

But first, he had to face the current problem.

749—should he go or not?

In the past, Yu Chen would’ve laughed it off and followed Lu Ding without a second thought.

But now?

He was sure Lu Ding was targeting him. The Sin Dragon aura, all the signs—

He couldn’t go to 749. Going meant certain death.

But if he didn’t go, he’d have to fight Lu Ding right here.....

Caught between choices, Yu Chen turned to his elder sisters, a pleading look in his eyes.

That move had always worked for him, and now was no different.

As soon as he looked their way, Yu Zhiyu and Yu Tao stood up together.

Lu Ding turned his head—if either of them dared block him, he’d strike immediately.

But before they could even straighten up, Yu Jun roared: “Sit down!!!”

The pressure of an Earth Observer burst out, pinning them both to their seats, unable to move or speak.

Yu Jun stood: “Investigator Lu, apologies. Please discipline my useless son as needed.”

That one line made the Yu family’s stance crystal clear.

Yu Chen looked utterly stunned.

He burst into bitter laughter: “Hahahahaha, the Yu family, what a fine Yu family. I guess there’s no need for me to stay here. If I die in 74—”

“You talk too much.”

Yu Chen still hoped to stir emotions with his words.

But Lu Ding just acted.

Snatched him up in one move.

Yu Chen saw his ploy fail and cursed inwardly.

He couldn’t just let Lu Ding take him. So he used strength beyond his current level and struck with his palm.

Bang!!!

Their palms collided. Yu Chen spat blood, using the recoil to shoot into the sky and flee.

“Lu Ding!!! I’ll remember this grudge, and repay it a hundredfold someday!!”

Seeing him open the battlefield himself,

Lu Ding sighed in relief—this saved him a lot of trouble.

He flew after him.

Watching this, Yu Huai turned to his father and said calmly, “As expected.”

Yu Jun’s teacup trembled in his hand.

“Sigh.......”

Scene shift.

In the skies—

Yu Chen kept speeding up, glancing back. No sign of Lu Ding.

A smile crept across his face.

“In terms of cultivation, I can’t match you for now. But when it comes to spell mastery, you should revere me like a god. Lu Ding, I’ll be back for you.”

He knew Lu Ding could fly—but so what?

Lu Ding’s cultivation had risen rapidly, meaning he’d spent most of his time on realm breakthroughs.

Flight techniques were notoriously hard to learn and master.

Even if Lu Ding had insane talent and got the basics down fast,

he’d spent most of his time on power, body, and combat strength.

Everyone knew this. So how good could he be at flight?

Time is limited—master one thing, you’ll lack in others.

That was Yu Chen’s belief—he’d never seen a true all-rounder!!

But never seen doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Under normal circumstances, maybe not—but if someone’s “cheating,” who knows.

Right as that thought came—

a shadow dropped from the sky, stomping straight down onto Yu Chen’s waist.

With crushing force, crack—

Yu Chen’s spine broke, his body folded backward, and he coughed up blood.

He turned his head, staring at his attacker with disbelief.

Lu Ding’s voice rang out, mocking: “A god? Such a weak one.”
