First-Year Internship—And You Went to Site 749 to Contain Monsters?!

Inside the 749 Bureau’s High-Security Prison

The entire facility was constructed as a single solid structure, made with C1000 concrete reinforced with special alloy steel—designed not just for physical security but also to ward off evil and suppress supernatural forces.

How strong was C1000 concrete once it set?

Let’s put it this way—

Even C140 concrete could withstand a rocket launcher without leaving a dent.

C1000? A direct missile strike wouldn’t even tickle it.

So, you can imagine the hopelessness of those locked inside.

Once you’re in, there’s no getting out—unless you go through official procedures.

At the Prison Entrance

Lu Ding flashed his interrogation warrant. The legal system for Cultivators of Qi was different from that of ordinary people.

For suspects they personally captured, 749 investigators had the right to interrogate them—

But not to release them.

Only within the confines of the prison.

Once the procedures were verified, the three of them stepped inside.

Navigating through the twisting corridors, they approached their target’s cell.

Before they even got close, voices echoed through the prison’s built-in surveillance system.

The facility was designed to be too secure—so much so that normal sounds couldn’t escape the cells.

To prevent security from being compromised, the prison was equipped with specialized audio capture and monitoring systems, ensuring that no anomalies went undetected.

It was also linked to a semi-intelligent control system—capable of detecting and blocking any sound-based spells, toxins, or airborne drugs.

Trying to pull something?

Before you could even finish, the alarms would blare.

And then?

You’d be greeted by a team of kind, gentle prison enforcers—without law enforcement recorders.

This was the fusion of mysticism and technology at its finest.

Inside the Cell

A female voice rang out.

Shangguan Qing spoke first.

”For now, just focus on your cultivation. You were in the wrong first, so we don’t have the upper hand in this situation.”

Then—

Chen Xian’s voice, thick with resentment.

”Of course, I’ll stay put for now. But I just can’t swallow this!”

”He hit me, and I’m just supposed to let it go?!”

”Why the hell should I?!”

”Sure, he followed the law. Sure, he was stronger. But that doesn’t mean I have to accept it! He wants me to submit?! Let him dream!”

Hearing this, Shangguan Qing fell silent for a moment.

She was proud, temperamental, and strong-willed—but she also understood what it meant to wear this uniform.

She knew what she should and shouldn’t do.

Before Lu Ding’s group had arrived, she had already learned the real reason behind Chen Xian’s actions—

He had tried to snatch the Yimu Knot to suppress her corpse energy.

That fact alone made her feel that she needed to correct his mindset.

”Look, I don’t usually say things like this, but today, I want to tell you something.”

”We are 749 investigators. We enjoy the privileges of 749, so we must abide by its rules. We can’t just take the benefits and ignore the responsibilities.”

”I’m not lecturing you. I’m just saying this as a friend.”

She truly meant no offense—

But Chen Xian was still pissed off.

”We’re all 749, aren’t we? Why couldn’t they just be a little flexible? A little negotiation wouldn’t hurt!”

”Chen Xian, think about it—if everyone got ’flexibility,’ then what’s the point of the law?”

”Break a big rule, shrink it into a small one. Break a small rule, make it disappear. If we start bending the rules whenever it’s convenient, then why even have them?”

”But the law shouldn’t ignore human emotions!”

”But he has no emotional connection to you!”

Shangguan Qing’s voice remained calm.

”I care about you, so I tried to help you.”

”You care about me, so you tried to steal the Yimu Knot for me.”

”That was a choice driven by personal emotions. And this—being locked up—is the consequence.”

”Actions have consequences, cause and effect. The world doesn’t revolve around us.”

”You can accept the good consequences. Why can’t you accept the bad ones?”

Chen Xian was getting more and more frustrated.

It was already humiliating to be beaten in front of Shangguan Qing—

And now she was lecturing him?!

His irritation boiled over.

He sat up abruptly, his emotions exploding.

”I don’t give a f***! I refuse to accept this! He better wait—I’ll beat him down one day!!”

And at that exact moment—

His eyes met the three figures standing outside the cell.

They were staring directly at him.

Why hadn’t they said anything yet?

Because—

Why would they?

The law enforcement recorder was running.

Every word he just shouted?

All of it was evidence.

Lu Ding finally spoke.

”Feifan, you get that recorded?”

Yan Feifan grinned.

”Don’t worry, Brother Lu. Got it all. He personally admitted you were ’reasonable, legal, and justified.’ We didn’t coerce him, didn’t trick him—every word was recorded, with surveillance footage as backup.”

”And now? He’s openly declared intent to retaliate.”

”According to the Cultivator of Qi Management Regulations—”

”—Punishment by flogging is required.”

Flogging.

Even seasoned martial artists couldn’t endure more than three lashes.

The specially crafted vine whip struck like fire—

One lash, numb.

Two lashes, pain.

Three lashes, screaming.

Lu Ding smirked.

”Alright—open the door, drag him out, and begin interrogation!”

Sure, maybe it wasn’t perfectly ’by the book’—but it was completely legal.

Not convinced?

Planning revenge?

Perfect.

Let’s take a trip to the interrogation room.

Chen Xian’s face turned pale.

Their conversation had been crystal clear.

The moment flogging was mentioned, he knew—

Sh*t!

”Wait—what are you doing?! This isn’t following proper regulations!”

”749 investigators have law enforcement and sentencing authority—but only outside!”

”This is the 749 Bureau’s prison! You can’t do this here!!”

Lu Ding raised an eyebrow.

”Regulations? Oh, so suddenly you care about regulations?”

”So, the rules exist to protect you—but not the investigator you just threatened?”

”You knowingly broke the law—and now you want the law to protect you?”

He leaned in slightly, his tone chilling.

”Regulations protect those who follow them.”

”For those who break them?”

”You don’t get the privilege.”

”You broke the rules. Now you bear the consequences.”

The cell door creaked open—

And before Chen Xian could react—

Bai Hemen lunged in, slammed him down, and pinned him to the ground.

Shangguan Qing instinctively moved to stand up—

But Lu Ding’s gaze locked onto her.

”Sit down.”

At that moment, a memory flashed through Shangguan Qing’s mind—

The moment Lu Ding had effortlessly defeated her earlier that day.

And—

She couldn’t refute him.

He was right.

A rule-breaker had no right to demand the protections of the rules.

No loopholes.

No weaknesses.

No escape.

In morality, legality, and strength—

Lu Ding crushed him from every angle.

A sharp mind and a strong body—

Some people only learn when the lesson is beaten into them.
