Chapter 2565: Chapter 943: The Fall of the Demonheart Gu Emperor

”Gu insects are naturally like this, but the suppression by the Demonic Heart Gu is even more formidable!”

Master Ming Lei said, then changed the subject.

”Let’s not talk about rank suppression first, just focus on the magic power attributes! The magic power refined by using the Demonic Heart Gu, although it varies due to the cultivator’s Spirit Root and physique, people later discovered that there is a commonality within these differences!”

”Commonality?” Luo Chen seemed to have thought of something.

Master Ming Lei nodded, ”Yes, someone found that the magic power between two different cultivators who refined the Demonic Heart Gu can actually be absorbed and converted through each other’s Demonic Heart Gu. If their realms are about the same, they can even absorb almost without loss! The calamity started because of this!”

Luo Chen thought of himself.

Although he never refined a Demonic Heart Gu, he relied on his strong physical qi-blood to forcibly cultivate a low-level Spirit Beetle to the level of a Third-stage Demonic Heart Gu.

Later, during his physical nirvana, the Demonic Heart Gu died along with it.

Yet, half of the magic power was strangely transferred to Hui Niang, who was billions of miles away.

Luo Chen didn’t know the mystery behind the transfer, just thought it was the law of heaven and earth.

But the fact that Sima Huiniang could receive his magic power was a clue.

The only flaw probably was Hui Niang’s lack of physique, so she couldn’t cultivate the Spirit Beetle on her body to the level of a Third-stage Demonic Heart Gu, thus she couldn’t completely convert the domineering fire attribute magic power he transferred over.

It was during the subsequent slow evolution that the Spirit Beetle advanced to the third stage and became deeply bound to Hui Niang.

Beside him, Master Ming Lei’s voice continued to drift.

”Since someone discovered this, the Southern Border’s Immortal Cultivation World plunged into endless bloody storms.”

”To quickly improve their cultivation, many people chose to take a risky path even faster than shortcuts. They began hunting down those who also refined the Demonic Heart Gu, converting their magic power to their own. Eventually, they stopped distinguishing targets, opting to kill first and talk later.”

”At that time, I was still in the Qi Refinement Stage, living in constant fear, wishing I could engrave ’I have not refined a Demonic Heart Gu’ on my forehead, afraid that someone might attack me.”

Luo Chen couldn’t help but ask, ”In such chaos, did the Holy Land do nothing?”

Master Ming Lei nodded then quickly shook his head.

”They managed, but only nominally. After clearing their internal Demonic Heart cultivators, they merely issued an edict to the outer world, forbidding the spread of the Demonic Heart Gu in the Southern Border.”

”What really quelled this calamity was the emergence of a Nascent Soul Old Monster.”

”Wherever he went, any cultivator who had refined the Demonic Heart Gu, regardless of their realm, had no resistance and their magic power was entirely harvested by him.”

”Only then did people realize that Demonic Heart Gu not only allows the conversion of different attribute magic powers but also possesses a natural rank suppression. Before a Fourth-tier Demonic Heart Gu, no matter what realm you’ve cultivated to, even if you’re in the Nascent Soul Stage, you can only be like fish on a chopping block, awaiting slaughter.”

”And that old monster was also known as the Demon Heart Gu Emperor!”

Luo Chen’s expression changed slightly.

The name, Demon Heart Gu Emperor, had finally appeared!

But he wasn’t anxious because this very likely wasn’t the one he was looking for.

As expected.

As Master Ming Lei continued, Luo Chen finally touched upon the information he wanted.

”Such a terrifying presence naturally stirred the many Nascent Soul experts of the Southern Border. After all, anyone who could achieve the Nascent Soul Stage at the time wouldn’t be a lone wolf.”

”They had disciples and descendants. These juniors would opt to refine the Demonic Heart Gu to speed up their cultivation in pursuit of quick and convenient gains.”

”Mutual hunting was merely resource competition. But the emergence of the Demon Heart Gu Emperor was like a harvest; no one could watch their descendants become fodder on someone else’s path to advancement.”

”Thus began the war to encircle and slaughter the Demon Heart Gu Emperor!”

At this point, Master Ming Lei visibly breathed a sigh of relief.

He smiled, ”Under such a degree of pursuit, the Demon Heart Gu Emperor could no longer be arrogant and had to act covertly. One day, news came from nowhere that the Demon Heart Gu Emperor had died.”

”Dead?” Luo Chen raised an eyebrow.

Master Ming Lei nodded slightly, ”Yes, dead. And in the most unexpected circumstances, he was backfired. A lower-tier cultivator who also refined a Demonic Heart Gu had rear-classed and backfired him.”

”Who was that person, and where are they?”

Master Ming Lei spread his hands, ”I don’t know, no one knows. That person was very mysterious and behaved differently from the old Gu Emperor, never preying on others and quietly vanished in the Southern Border Cultivation World.”

Luo Chen opened his mouth, finally saying slowly, ”Cautious, aren’t they?”

Master Ming Lei laughed, ”Maybe not cautious, but scared. After all, the pursuit of the Demon Heart Gu Emperor back then was enormous, involving experts from dozens of top forces moving together; perhaps not even the Holy Land could bear such wrath.”

Luo Chen also laughed, finding Master Ming Lei too speculative, as the Holy Land’s foundation was strong enough to suppress an entire continent.

Without external interference, even if all the Southern Border experts united, it might not be enough for a single ancestor from the Holy Land Life and Death Gate to slay.

He was just curious about where this new Demon Heart Gu Emperor had gone.

”Later, as the Demon Heart Gu Emperor disappeared, the Southern Border’s many forces targeted the remaining Demon Heart cultivators. They either hunted, imprisoned, or used various secret techniques to remove and suppress them.”

”Under the calls and edicts of each family, the Demonic Heart Gu, this cultivation tool, gradually vanished from the history of the Southern Border.”

A calamity, a segment of history, told from the perspective of an observer.

For the first time, Luo Chen comprehensively understood this piece of history.

The information useful to him wasn’t much, but he managed to capture some.

Such as the Demonic Heart Gu’s habits, effects, and... the character of that new Gu Emperor!

”Where would he go into hiding?”

”He couldn’t have already died, could he?”

In such speculation, Luo Chen suddenly felt a surge within him.

”Brother Ming Lei, I must take my leave, I have some cultivation matters to attend to.”

”You may go!”

Master Ming Lei said, watching Luo Chen enter the cabin once more.
