Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 248: Chapter 224: A Surprise

Li Qian had left. Aside from forgetting to ask for directions at the last moment, he felt he had maintained a rather cool, composed, and even placid demeanor.

Of course, that was all just an act. In reality, the moment he left the Zhonghai City Transmission Center, he immediately pulled out his phone and started looking things up.

His mind was already in turmoil, unable to settle for a long time. The evolution he had expected to be smooth and uneventful had, in fact, brought him far too many surprises.

So much so that he needed some time to process all the unexpected turns. He looked on his phone and quickly found a few leads.

Online, there was almost no information about the prominent figure, Li Sukuai. What little there was seemed dubious and probably had no credibility.

However, he did find some fragmentary information about Li Sukuai’s Pet Beast. And ”fragmentary” was the right word, because there wasn’t much online about the butterfly either.

Based on those scraps of information, Li Qian was finally able to piece together a basic understanding.

The Phantom Deep Space Butterfly!

A Dual Attribute Spiritual and Space Element Pet Beast!

A Pet Beast with Saint Spirit Level Potential!

Moreover, according to the online descriptions, it wasn’t just any ordinary Pet Beast with Saint Spirit Level Potential. Even among its peers, it was considered a top-tier existence.

Its true Racial Potential was likely no less impressive than that of the Lie Kongzuo he had used for his bluff.

Having been in contact with Li Sukuai’s Phantom Deep Space Butterfly for some time, and based on the techniques it displayed, Li Qian guessed it was, in all likelihood, a Holy Spirit-level Pet Beast that had already fulfilled its potential. In other words, Li Sukuai was a Saint Spirit Level Beast Master.

While that level of power was formidable, it was also within Li Qian’s expectations. After all, Elder Li was the head of the Zhonghai City Transmission Center.

’Well, he never specified his exact position at the Zhonghai City Transmission Center,’ Li Qian thought. ’But judging from the fact that he detected Xiaohui’s evolution through spatial fluctuations, and how easily he offered a collaboration, he has to be either the top man or the second-in-command.’

Of course, this surprise-filled evolutionary journey had given Li Qian more to think about than just the shock of the Phantom Deep Space Butterfly’s power and Li Sukuai’s background. There were also the new ideas sparked by the Void Shuttling experience.

First was the newfound concept of a High-dimensional Space. This realization led him to a new theory about the Extreme Fierce Sky Escape Eagle’s evolution.

For an Extreme Fierce Storm Eagle to evolve into an Extreme Fierce Sky Escape Eagle, it needed a Teleportation Array to activate the Energy within a Void Stone, thereby triggering the evolution. But perhaps what was truly necessary wasn’t the Teleportation Array itself, but some kind of mysterious Energy from the High-dimensional Space.

If his theory was correct, it meant that even without a Teleportation Array, as long as a Pet Beast could use a space-traversing skill to enter the High-dimensional Space, it should also be able to trigger the evolution.

That was Li Qian’s theory, and he felt it was a pretty solid one. The only problem was that this improved evolution method was impossible to test, as the Mysterious Skill ”Spatial Shuttle” was far beyond what his Pet Beasts could master at their current stage.

As for asking Li Sukuai for a favor, he didn’t want to be in his debt. More importantly, a man that busy couldn’t possibly be available to help him on demand.

Beyond that, there was the matter of the Phantom Deep Space Butterfly’s intervention before their return to the physical world. Li Qian had clearly seen Li Sukuai’s expression darken when he detected the two Void Blood Bats hiding in the void.

Li Qian also tried searching online for information about the Void Blood Bats. But unlike the case with Li Sukuai where there was at least something, he found absolutely no relevant information at all.

That’s right—not a single piece of information to be found. It was as if the creatures didn’t exist at all. Back then, Li Sukuai had ordered the Phantom Deep Space Butterfly to strike so quickly that Li Qian hadn’t gotten a clear look at the two Void Blood Bats. Still, he was 100% certain that Elder Li wouldn’t have been deceiving him in that situation.

After a moment of thought, Li Qian found it understandable that there was no information online. Perhaps the creatures were simply too rare.

Of course, it was also possible the Federation Government had deliberately scrubbed any related information. What Li Qian really needed to consider now was whether the appearance of the Void Blood Bats in the High-dimensional Space was a normal phenomenon or a special occurrence.

After thinking for a while, Li Qian felt the answer was likely the latter. Otherwise, Li Sukuai wouldn’t have given him that parting word of warning.

Back at the Sky Realm Cultivation Base, Li Qian was still mulling over the problem. To be precise, he tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep a wink.

As a result, when he woke up the next morning, the dark circles under his eyes were very pronounced.

Seeing Li Qian’s exhausted state, Shi Gui Fang asked, ”Master Li, what happened to you? Why the huge dark circles under your eyes?”

Li Qian gave a wry smile. ”Ah, it can’t be helped. I got too absorbed in my research last night. By the time I snapped out of it, it was already very late, so I didn’t sleep well.”

As he spoke, he suddenly remembered the newly established ”Task One” and his collaboration with the Zhonghai City Transmission Center. He immediately got down to business. ”Oh, right. Little Boss, there’s something I need your help with.”

”What is it?” the little boss, Shi Gui Fang, asked. Her only worry right now was that Li Qian *wouldn’t* ask for anything. As long as he made requests, the Sky Realm had a chance of retaining him.

’Even if he just came to act as our resident expert for a while during the winter and summer breaks in the future, that would be a great outcome,’ she thought.

So right now, no matter what Li Qian asked for, she would do her utmost to fulfill his request.

Li Qian didn’t beat around the bush and told her directly what he needed. ”Through a fortunate turn of events, I’ve entered into a collaboration with the Zhonghai City Transmission Center. I need a batch of Gray Bean Doves with decent aptitude, as well as a batch of Xunfeng Bamboo.”

”How many do you need?” Shi Gui Fang asked readily, without a moment’s hesitation.

”Ten Gray Bean Doves, and ten stalks of Xunfeng Bamboo,” Li Qian answered. Then he added, ”And once this is all over, I have a surprise for you.”

’As for what the surprise would be, Li Qian had already decided: an Extreme Fierce Sky Escape Eagle!’

Since Li Qian hadn’t specified what the surprise was, Shi Gui Fang instinctively underestimated its significance. She immediately refused, ”No, no, there’s no need. We already benefited immensely from the evolution method for the Extreme Fierce Storm Eagle. We wouldn’t dare ask for more.”

Li Qian chuckled at her response. ”Why don’t you decide whether you want it or not after you see what the surprise actually is.”

Li Qian was confident that once she understood the true significance of the surprise, she might not be so quick to refuse.

’Even for the heir of a great family,’ he mused, ’an Emperor Level Pet Beast isn’t easy to come by. Not to mention, the Extreme Fierce Sky Escape Eagle also possesses the Spatial Attribute.’

”Hearing you put it like that, I’m actually quite excited now!” A look of clear interest appeared on Shi Gui Fang’s face as she listened to Li Qian.
