Chapter 665: Beat Them Until They Hand Them Over

“This Qinyang sect actually dares to hold people captive?” Chu Yunfan blurted out. However, he immediately realized that they really did dare.

These sects looked like they abided by the laws of the Federation. Once they broke the law, even their sect leader would be arrested and sent to prison. However, the prerequisite was that they had to be able to produce evidence.

“Have you called the police?”

“Yes, we have. However, Qingyang claims that no one has entered their place. Also, the police searched all of Qingyang but didn’t find anyone,” Chu Wenxuan frowned and said in a heavy voice.

Chu Yunfan frowned too. He was no longer the naive child he used to be that still believed that the government could control and solve everything.

Every year, countless people would disappear from the Federation. If Qingyang was really holding Chu Yunfei captive, there would be plenty of places to hide. It was too common for sects and families to privately set up torture chambers. As long as one was not caught red-handed, there was nothing to be afraid of.

Even the police had to consider the implications. It was impossible for them to search all of Qingyang for Chu Yunfei. This was a realistic matter. The common folk and upper-class society were of two different worlds.

“Because the police could not find anything, your uncle and I have no other choice but to ask for your help,” Liu Silin’s eyes were red and swollen. “You’ve been admitted to Federation University, so you’re the most outstanding one in our family. Do you have any friends who can help us? Yunfei is the only child we have. If something were to happen to him…”

As Liu Silin said this, her eyes turned red again. Chu Yunfei was her treasure, and she had pampered him for twenty years since he was young. At the thought of him getting into an accident, she could not help but shed tears.

Chu Yunfan’s mother, Yang Yayun, was a very emotional person. Her eyes turned red as well.

“Yunfan, if you have a way, help your third uncle. He’s also your cousin,” Chu Wencheng said.

“I beg you, Yunfan, please help him,” Chu Wenxuan said as he suddenly kneeled before Chu Yunfan.

Chu Yunfan did not dare to accept this grand gesture. He hurriedly helped Chu Wenxuan up and said, “Third Uncle, what are you doing? Are you trying to make me die of shame?”

Chu Yunfan felt sorry for Chu Yunfei’s parents. His father, Chu Wenxuan, had looked down on him and his sister before. But now, his third uncle was kneeling before his nephew for the sake of his son.

After soothing Chu Wenxuan and Liu Silin’s emotions, Chu Yunfan said, “I think I have a clearer picture of what’s going on now. Yunfei entered Qingyang, and now they’re holding him captive, correct?”

“Yes, that’s right. They’ve been denying it, but I know he’s there!” Liu Silin said and she hurriedly nodded.

“Reporting to the police would be useless unless they conduct a large-scale search. However, we don’t have enough evidence to prove that Yunfei went to Qingyang. Moreover, if Qingyang really has him, they might’ve already moved him to a different location. Even if the police conduct a large-scale search, I’m afraid they won’t be able to find him,” Chu Yunfan said as he shook his head.

There was no doubt about the power of the Federation’s laws. No one dared to belittle them. However, the prerequisite was that there was sufficient evidence. The law could not be used to convict people based on guesses, and this provided many with the opportunity to take advantage of the law.

Of course, if the person being detained was a big shot, there would naturally be a way for them to use their connections at the top to exert pressure from the bottom. However, Chu Yunfan lacked the ability to do such a thing.

“You’re right.” Chu Wencheng and Chu Wenxuan nodded. They too had come to the same conclusion, which was why they had come to Chu Yunfan and asked if he knew anyone who could solve this problem.

“Leave this to me. I’ll solve it,” Chu Yunfan said.

“Thank you! Thank you, Yunfan!” Liu Silin was overjoyed. She had never in her life thanked Chu Yunfan as much as she did today. For her son, she would do anything.

“Don’t worry, we’re family. And you’re welcome,” Chu Yunfan said.

“How do you plan to solve this?” Chu Wencheng said worriedly. No matter how big or small Qingyang was, it was not something ordinary people like them could deal with.

“Since they refuse to hand over the person, then we’ll beat them until they comply!” Chu Yunfan sneered.

Without the slightest hesitation, Chu Yunfan set off. This matter was of great importance, so there was no time to delay. Chu Yunfei’s situation would become direr with every passing minute.

Chu Yunfan knew how sinister the methods of these sects were. If he got there too late, Chu Yunfei might never come back.

After leaving the house, Chu Yunfan started looking into Qingyang’s background. He had never heard of this sect before. There were so many sects in the Federation, so he only knew of some of the more reputable ones.

Fortunately, through the Intelligence Division of Federation University, which was also the force behind the university’s encyclopedia, he quickly found some information about Qingyang.

The Qingyang sect had been first established just over a hundred years ago. It was considered relatively young among the many sects in the Federation and was relatively small in numbers. It could only be considered a small sect. According to the information, their sect leader was merely a peak Acquired expert.

Of course, to ordinary civilians, even a small sect was a huge figure. However, to the current Chu Yunfan, it was nothing.

Two hours later, the shuttle arrived at Xihua City where Qingyang was located. Most of these small sects were located inside the cities of the Federation and would not choose to build their base out in the wilderness. Although the wilderness would afford them more freedom, the danger level was also much higher. Even a sect that had been established for decades, or even centuries, could be destroyed in a minute in the face of a monster tide.

At the edge of Xihua City, at the foot of Mount Qingyang, a figure dressed in black robes arrived.

Looking up, Mount Qingyang was extremely tall—like a treasured sword piercing into the sky. Although it had undergone some modern modifications, its ancient appearance had been preserved

From time to time, one could see people walking on the mountain path. The steep terrain of the mountain did not have any effect on those who practiced martial arts.

Chu Yunfan took a deep breath and bellowed, “I, Chu Yunfan, from Federation University, am here to visit. Leader of Qingyang, I hope you’ll be willing to meet with me.” His voice was as loud as a bell as it raced up Mount Qingyang.
