God-Level Special Forces Soldier

Facing Xiao Tian’s inquiry, Ji Dantong suddenly lifted her head, her face flushed red as she wanted to retort, but after her lips moved twice, she could only say, ”Say whatever you want!”

Xiao Tian angrily laughed: ”Haha, you sure sound like you’re in the right! Never mind you deciding on your own to follow me is right or wrong, but you could at least be of some help!”

”But what about you? Not only did you fail to help, you even twisted your ankle, and I have to take care of you instead!” Xiao Tian snorted coldly, ”Don’t you have anything to say?!”

Ji Dantong was tongue-tied, truly feeling at a loss for words. She could only bite her lower lip hard, clenching and unclenching her pink fists in a fit of anger.

”Did you come here just to scold me?” Ji Dantong asked furiously, panting heavily.

”Of course not!”

With his arms crossed, Xiao Tian turned his head to the side: ”I originally intended to help you detoxify the poison of the Soul-Seeking Bee, but seeing your attitude, forget it!”

Having said that, Xiao Tian turned and walked away. Hearing these words, Ji Dantong hurriedly chased after him, ”Hey! Ah…” In her urgency, she forgot about her injured left ankle, instantly crying out in pain.

Xiao Tian furrowed his brows as he saw Ji Dantong bend down, clutching her left ankle, her face twisted in pain.

Seeing this, Xiao Tian couldn’t bear to blame her any further. He could only sigh and walk over, supporting her by the elbow, helping her to sit down slowly.

”Does it hurt?” Xiao Tian looked at Ji Dantong’s still somewhat swollen ankle and asked.

The gentle voice in front of her made Ji Dantong momentarily lose her mind, until the pain in her foot brought her back to reality.

”Ah…”

The tug on her left leg by Xiao Tian made Ji Dantong involuntarily take a breath, then she retorted with annoyance, ”What do you think?!”

Xiao Tian carefully examined Ji Dantong’s injury, replying without lifting his head, ”Pain is good; it serves as a reminder!”

Ji Dantong was dumbstruck, bewildered by Xiao Tian’s swift change in behavior—how could he switch from gently inquiring about her injury to suddenly mocking her?!

When Ji Dantong snapped back to her senses, she saw that Xiao Tian had set her left foot down and was walking towards the gathered group of people nearby without saying a word.

This left her feeling somewhat uncomfortable. However, she soon saw Xiao Tian retrieve a few herbal medicines from a bag on the ground, and also take out a bandage and tools for grinding the herbs from another backpack.

Returning again, Xiao Tian didn’t rebuke Ji Dantong further, he simply focused on his task, combining the herbs and grinding them into a paste.

”Bear with it!”

Xiao Tian, holding a lump of herbal paste in one hand, placed Ji Dantong’s foot on his leg and said to her.

Ji Dantong nervously nodded, indicating her understanding.

Then she saw Xiao Tian suddenly grab her injured ankle with the herbal hand, bringing a sharp pain akin to thousands of needles stabbing simultaneously.

Overwhelmed by the intense pain, Ji Dantong instinctively grabbed Xiao Tian’s arm, her face contorted in a fierce expression, making her look very ferocious and struggling to endure it.

After a while, when Ji Dantong felt the pain subside somewhat, she saw Xiao Tian biting his teeth and asked, ”Is it better now?”

Ji Dantong nodded, exhaling deeply and strangely asking, ”Why are you gritting your teeth?”

”What do you think?!”

This rhetorical question instantly made Ji Dantong realize that she had been gripping Xiao Tian’s arm tightly all along. She quickly released it and said, flustered, ”I’m sorry! I didn’t do it on purpose.”

Xiao Tian rubbed his arm where he had been pinched, not paying attention to Ji Dantong’s apology, instead quickly collecting some firewood, lighting a campfire, and placing an herb pot on it—the next step was just to wait.

After Xiao Tian was done with everything, Ji Dantong, whose ankle was no longer unbearably painful, suddenly remembered the Proud Snow Evil Shadow Bamboo and the Jade Pendant she had obtained earlier were still with her.

After taking them out from one side, Ji Dantong handed the Jade Pendant back to Xiao Tian and also offered the Proud Snow Evil Shadow Bamboo: ”This time you put in the most effort; how it’s divided is up to you!”

”At least you have some conscience!” Xiao Tian chuckled, taking the Proud Snow Evil Shadow Bamboo without hesitation, he deftly took out a dagger from behind and divided the bamboo into an eight-two split.

Of course, Xiao Tian wasn’t one to waste resources, as he divided the Proud Snow Evil Shadow Bamboo, he laid a thick piece of paper underneath to catch all the fragments that fell from the breakage.

Watching Xiao Tian’s extremely unfair division, Ji Dantong couldn’t help but blink twice, but since she had said he could decide how to divide, there was no way to object.

However, what happened next left her with wide eyes and an incredulous expression!

Seeing the amount of Proud Snow Evil Shadow Bamboo in front of her, far more than what Xiao Tian held, Ji Dantong couldn’t help asking, ”Are you really taking just that little? How about we split it evenly?”

But Xiao Tian, after storing away his two-tenths, explained, ”I don’t need much. Proportionally, it’s enough for around five weapons, which is plenty for me!”

”Furthermore, since you found it first and got hurt as well, it’s only right you get more!”

Ji Dantong’s face, hands, and injured ankle were all in Xiao Tian’s sight, and he truly didn’t need much. He was always fair in such matters, often at a loss himself.

Xiao Tian’s conscience made Ji Dantong feel even more guilty about accepting, even though she had suffered many injuries, the key contributions were his, making it hard to accept so readily!

Added with the doubts during Xiao Tian’s division, she felt embarrassed to accept and declined, ”Even though I’m injured, you did put in a lot of effort, so…”

”You’re a disciple from some sect, aren’t you?” Xiao Tian didn’t dwell on the matter but changed the topic with a question.

At this point, Xiao Tian’s question didn’t seem like probing to the inherently cautious Ji Dantong, so she honestly replied, ”Yes, but it’s not a major sect.”

”And I… snuck out this time!” Ji Dantong admitted honestly.

”Isn’t that just fine!” Xiao Tian laughed, ”You didn’t get any treasure this time, so you can use this Proud Snow Evil Shadow Bamboo to offset things. I’m sure no one would blame you!”

”This…”

Ji Dantong gave a wry smile; offsetting merits with demerits might work in other sects, but not with her master.

Obtaining such a treasure as the Proud Snow Evil Shadow Bamboo might earn her a great merit, but the punishment would still be unavoidable.

But such matters weren’t glorious to speak of, so she chose to remain silent.
