Chapter 533: Chapter 533 Hard Clash_1

Mengda Ge’er was taken aback for a moment, as he hadn’t noticed until now that the reason he hadn’t been able to muster any strength was because of a fine Silver Needle?

What surprised Mengda Ge’er even more was that his opponent, Jiang Chen, actually helped him remove the Silver Needle and then turned his back to walk towards someone else. Does he really trust me that much?

Jiang Chen wasn’t trusting Mengda Ge’er, but rather carrying out a test.

He had arrived at the courtyard entrance long ago but hadn’t come out. He had watched the whole fight between Mengda Ge’er and Xuan Long and could discern someone’s character by their way of fighting. Jiang Chen was sure that Mengda Ge’er was an honorable and upright man. This turn around was his final test.

This test would decide if Mengda Ge’er lived or died!

If Mengda Ge’er launched a sneak attack, then he would die!

Mengda Ge’er was unaware of Jiang Chen’s inner thoughts, but he indeed did not attempt to sneak attack Jiang Chen. By doing nothing, he unknowingly saved his own life.

”What are you two doing?” Jiang Chen asked with a stern face.

Standing side by side in front of Jiang Chen, Xuan Long and the other felt ashamed and lowered their heads upon hearing him.

”Lift your heads!” Jiang Chen shouted.

Xuan Long and the other trembled, slowly raised their heads, and looked at Jiang Chen with embarrassment. Jiang Chen had never been this harsh with them before. In their eyes, Jiang Chen’s anger must be because they had disappointed him!

”Do you think that you came here to protect me, but feel ashamed because you couldn’t even handle an opponent? Do you think by fighting desperately and winning, you can prove yourselves?”

Jiang Chen’s voice grew increasingly severe, ”If you consider yourselves my subordinates and feel that failing to defeat my enemies is a disgrace to me, Jiang Chen, then you can roll back to the Jiang Family right now and never come back! What I, Jiang Chen, need are brothers with whom I can share life and death, brothers who cherish their own lives as they would cherish their brothers’ lives, not underlings with ridiculous pride!”

Xuan Long and the other’s hearts quivered, and their eyes turned towards Jiang Chen, filled with a willingness to die for their acknowledged leader. They opened their mouths as if to say something, but Jiang Chen did not pay them any further attention and turned to look at Mengda Ge’er.

Mengda Ge’er was taken aback by Jiang Chen’s words, and his gaze met Jiang Chen’s with a complex expression.

”You were sent by someone from the Four Great Aristocratic Families, weren’t you?” Jiang Chen asked indifferently.

Mengda Ge’er remained silent. Betraying an employer was a serious taboo in their training camp, and it was something he absolutely could not do. However, his silence was as good as confirming Jiang Chen’s words.

”Can you tell me who you are?” Jiang Chen asked again.

Mengda Ge’er lifted his head with pride and said, ”Spa Training Camp, Iron War God Mengda Ge’er!”

”Iron War God?” Jiang Chen looked at Mengda Ge’er with amusement, having never met someone so self-aggrandizing before.

Seeing Jiang Chen’s smile, Mengda Ge’er bristled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, and immediately sprang up, ”What are you laughing at? Do you look down on the Iron War God of the Spa Training Camp?”

”I...” Jiang Chen looked at Mengda Ge’er, taken aback and at a loss for words.

”Young Master, the Iron War God is not an individual’s title but a title of honor awarded only to the strongest among a batch of students in the Spa Training Camp. The training camp holds a session every three years, and this Mengda Ge’er must be the strongest student of the past three years,” Xuan Long stepped forward and explained quietly.

”Honor?!” Jiang Chen was slightly startled, then quickly understood. He looked at Mengda Ge’er apologetically and said softly, ”I apologize, I was not aware of the significance of this title to you. My apologies!”

Mengda Ge’er was taken aback once more. What’s going on? I’m here to kill you, and you’re really apologizing to me?

”Do you... do you realize I came here to kill you?” Mengda Ge’er asked, looking bewildered.

Jiang Chen smiled slightly, ”I know. I was already at the doorway when Xuan Long came out.”

”Then you...” Mengda Ge’er looked at Jiang Chen, puzzled.

Jiang Chen chuckled, ”No matter your purpose, you held back when you made your move against my two brothers just now, which is a fact, and you didn’t launch a surprise attack when my back was turned. This makes me feel that perhaps we don’t have to meet as life-and-death enemies!”

Mengda Ge’er blinked, his brows knitting slightly, ”This is my first mission since receiving the title of the Iron War God; I cannot give it up. Moreover, at the Spa Training Camp, once we accept a mission, there’s never talk of giving up, only success or death!”

”Is failure tantamount to death?” Jiang Chen frowned slightly; he genuinely admired Mengda Ge’er and had wanted to take him under his wing. Now, it seemed there was little chance of that.

”Well, you may make your move now!”

A glint of sharp light flashed through Jiang Chen’s eyes. Always facing opponents who varied greatly from him, he had never fully understood his true strength. Today, he could use Mengda Ge’er to gauge his capabilities.

”Alright, here I come!”

Jiang Chen’s earlier action had made Mengda Ge’er wary, and what Jiang Chen said to Xuan Long had made him feel a sense of kindred spirit with Jiang Chen, but a mission was a mission, and he could not disgrace the Spa Training Camp.

Jiang Chen nodded slightly, focusing intently on Mengda Ge’er.

Whoosh!

The sound of air being cleaved echoed as Mengda Ge’er lunged with a fierce punch that arrived before his fist, scraping painfully across Jiang Chen’s face.

”Well done!” Jiang Chen shouted, throwing a fierce punch directly at Mengda Ge’er’s incoming fist.

”Young Master!”

”Don’t go head-to-head!”

Xuan Long shouted out in alarm, one after another.

Boom!

A thunderous roar ensued in the space between Jiang Chen’s and Mengda Ge’er’s fists, with a resulting air explosion that covered up the sound of their fists colliding.

Xuan Long’s expressions changed, and they hurried toward Jiang Chen.

But just as they lifted their feet to rush over, they were stunned into immobility.

Thud, thud, thud!

Dull, rapid footsteps resounded as Mengda Ge’er looked at Jiang Chen with disbelief, his body retreating uncontrollably three steps back!

Mengda Ge’er knew from Jiang Chen’s initial move that he was likely no match for him, and had already given his all from the start.

But to his utter disbelief, his all-out punch had been forcibly blocked by Jiang Chen, who even pushed him back three steps.

When he tore apart an Arctic bear with his bare hands, a single punch was enough to break its bones and tendons.

Was this Jiang Chen even human?

”Fantastic!”

After his shock, Mengda Ge’er bellowed excitedly. He had never before met anyone who could match him in strength alone, and now that he had met Jiang Chen, he suddenly felt like he had found a soulmate.

”Come again!” Jiang Chen roared, launching another ferocious punch towards Mengda Ge’er.
